Agree with the show not feeling like #YR. It just doesn't. And hasn't since about 2008. While the stories 3/4 years prior may not have been typical #YR fair, I still felt like I was watching that soap. Not now

I've used that Toggle button to skip over large swaths of scenes so many times, like you wouldn't believe! And I've been known to skip weeks, here and there.

Sometimes I do find myself trying to highlight the positive, in light of a few remarks made that all we do is criticize the show in posts but honestly, a lot of Y&R's content is so glaring in what needs improvement that it's unavoidable that we're going to critique it.

But I agree that Y&R has been and definitely could be much better than what it currently is.

Is it bad that I've given up on the idea of what the show could be and look at it for what it is? Like the Michael/Lauren ED storyline. Why did they not do this a year ago? It would've provided a perfect entry into the Lauren/Carmine affair. Then maybe there wouldn't have been such backlash and more freedom for Y&R to 'go there' with the story instead of that ridic stalker storyline.

And even though it was nice to see original Malcolm again, it ran through my mind how several people were missing from this storyline but it is what it is, I guess. The Neil pairing with Hillary and subsequent blindness story is still pretty bad, though. It was still nice to see KSJ and SM interact.

I won't even mention most of those other stories, though. Most are even worse.

I feel the same way. Y&R will never again be what it was under Bill Bell and Kay Alden's leadership. Not even if SONY were to hire an Academy Award-winning screenwriter who loves the show and has watched it from day one. But I think it could be a much better show than it is right now under different terms.

So Hilary and Devon had sex. And then Neil tells Hilary he wants a divorce (even though he doesn't know she has had sex with Devon). Way to keep the drama going, Y&R.

Hi everyone - this is my first post here and It's really a test to see if my account's working but I will say that I'm in agreement with most of y'all about the quality of the storylines on the show right now. Lacking to say the least, with a few bright spots. I've decided to continue viewing until the new Adam debuts because he's hot and may bring some life although I think the fault lies in the writing and until that improves not even recasting George Clooney and Sandra Bullock as Victor and Nikki is going to make any difference.

    • I would love for Rick and Amber to come back and Amber to be involved with Deke somehow

The show does look great though!
    • Well, she just said "ladies" on the show but she didn't specify they were fellow actresses. It could have been some of the women behind the scenes of the show. There was a lot in the interview that wasn't clear to me.
    • Now would’ve been a great time to get the next A plot going, versus Bill and Katie and Steffy and Liam rehashing the same BS about Luna we have been hearing for weeks.
    • I feel it could benefit from a focus on one of their three A stories or a solid B plot. But right before the turnover from Guza to Thomson, outside of all things Dani...there's nothing too A story-ish going on. Still entertaining for me, but it's noticeable that there is not a main story with other B/C stories going on. It's just...a bunch of stories going on.    I do hope the build to Winterfest and us actually seeing it THIS month will get things moving again.    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
    • GET THAT HEFFA, NOSY NURSE!!!   I'm sorry to see Smitty and June coming to a middle ground. It seem like that tension would be between them for at least one more story arc. A writing change?   I'm sorry but I love the teen unit of Ty, Samantha, and Jessica (and Rocco, Danny, Charlotte over on GH which is what today is reminding me of). I'm a sucker for soap teens. lol.
    • I really hope Laura doesn’t get reelected. She doesn’t deserve it. Imagine her campaign staff, freaking out at the Metro Court as election results come in while she’s hanging out with Sonny.
    • Thanks for that. It was great to see her in an interview. She's very likable. Although it was somewhat confusing. What new soap is she talking about going on audition for in 1973. Was it The Young and the Restless? Is it just me or did they never even say the name of this soap opera? Days wasn't new in 1973 and there was no "Jack" with three daughters on The Young and the Restless. What soap are they talking about? The editing around that part was weird and choppy. I felt like there was a chunk missing or something. And I'm not sure why she was saying she got colorectal cancer from HPV and said it's because she never got the HPV vaccine but then said she's never had anal sex. I'm not a doctor but that didn't seem to make any medical sense. I don't know. Maybe I'm tired. It just seemed like some of this interview didn't make sense.
    • If it helps any, the last script cover from the Elman papers that I have is from episode #3,736 airdate November 15, 1977. Writers are the Hollands with Frank Salisbury.
    • B&B really does look incredible. The lighting and the polished sets have made a significant difference how visually appealing the show is now.
    • I found the problem with the Labine era was that the show lost some humour when the Labines came on and it could be dull. They also didn't seem to understand some of the characters. As others have said, it looks fantastic in comparison to the next regime but I just remember boredom being the primary response.
