August 13, 201411 yr Member Depression is REAL, SERIOUS and a DISEASE. It hurts me when ignoramuses say that people who either commit or attempt suicide are selfish, stupid, etc. I saw Marie Osmond interviewed on TV some years ago speaking out about her battle with post-partum depression in 1999. She said something along the lines of when someone is seriously depressed, "you don't control anything. It controls you."
August 13, 201411 yr Member This is obviously a horrible tragedy. I am sorry if I am condoning suicide (because I think we should do all we can to discourage our loved ones from doing so), but I can totally understand why someone would choose to commit suicide. As someone who sometimes suffers from depression, suicide seems very appealing when the future looks absolutely hopeless. And though this was definitely not the case for Robin Williams, the future can look absolutely hopeless if one has had a long list of failures in life. Edited August 13, 201411 yr by Max
August 13, 201411 yr Member Some people are juding him and calling him selfish. wtf? My aunt a long time ago tried to commit suicide because of depression. Depression is a disease and shouldn't be called "selfish." I mean....it is selfish if you have young children that depend on you but I won't derail this thread with semantics.
August 13, 201411 yr Author Member Two people on Twitter actually were harassing Zelda, sending her disturbing Photoshop pics of Robin, I've seen one of them, it was disgusting http://www.justjared.com/2014/08/13/zelda-williams-is-deleting-twitter-for-a-good-long-time/

August 14, 201411 yr Member That was a nice moment there in that clip. I have listened to that song a few times this week.
August 14, 201411 yr Member According to Williams' wife he was suffering from Parkinson's. http://www.salon.com/2014/08/14/robin_williamss_wife_reveals_beloved_actor_had_parkinsons/ Heartbreaking but I'm glad to know that his sobriety was still intact.
August 14, 201411 yr Member Wow. Just so, so sad - and shame on the people pouring salt on the wounds of the Williams family. What they did to Zelda's Twitter account...don't get me started.
August 15, 201411 yr Member Saw this article about the harrassing comments that Zelda Williams and her response and the troll phenomenon on the New York Times website: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/15/technology/web-trolls-winning-as-incivility-increases.html?_r=0 I think Troll is too nice of a term for someone who spews such vitriol as those who posted ugly pictures on Jezebel. I prefer the term I used in my earlier post... 'gutter snipes'.
August 16, 201411 yr Member I just read that a certain organization in Topeka, KS, is planning to protest Mr. Williams' funeral. Big shock there.
August 16, 201411 yr Member ^^^oh geeze...That ticks me off to no end. The tribute video is beautiful.
August 16, 201411 yr Member The good news is, that with Robin Williams having been Episcopalian, will be having a private funeral (I heard that on the news, and that Episcopalians tend to have private funerals). Hopefully the idiot organization that I refuse to name doesn't find out where it is.
August 18, 201411 yr Member This gutted me, he's an amazing person, we need more like him in the world Robin Williams sent caring video message to New Zealand woman with terminal cancer, fulfilling a wish on her bucket list
