Nancy Curlee, Claire Labine, Kay Alden--writers who don't manipulate characters by superimposing hack plots on them, but tell emotionally wrenching stories born from the characters' histories. Jean and Shelley (and Jill): this is the best you can do??? How do the three of you keep jobs in the industry? Y&R has become such a laughable generic soap under these three. Neil going blind is such a clique soap staple. Yawn.

Don't see this recast (Gina T.) working either. Ditto: Cady and NuBilly (horrible recasting!!!!) This show lurches from one bad decision to another. It needs a strong EP who understands what a unique soap Y&R is (calling Ed Scott) and an equally strong head writer (calling Kay Alden, Nancy Curlee, or Claire Labine) who writes stories that touch the heart. Also, Michelle Stafford is so closely identified with Phyllis, the show should have waited years to recast with someone else (who knows, maybe by then JFP and her minions Jean and Shelley will be history, and Michelle would come back to the show if approached).

Curlee and Demorest would be brilliant head writers. Alden is retired. Broderick doesn't want to head write. I don't think Curlee would work with Jill although I received a Facebook letter from Curlee when GL went off the air and she said she had stayed in soaps a while after GL, and been about to join GH's writing team, but things fell through or she got pregnant again. She was well regarded in the industry but she chose to raise her daughters in NC. She sent me a wonderful letter.
