August 16, 201312 yr Member Jean Passanante? Get ready to see your favorite heroines shot in the back of the head execution style Im sure thats exactly what JFP wants line up all the vets and off them at once
August 16, 201312 yr Member This just shows JFP is in complete control. Oh god jean passastinko please no. She's a complete hack. I am sure Shelly Altman is a place holder until bob Guza is hired. Honestly I am really shocked how Sony wants nothing to do with the old bell staff members. Kay Alden and Ed Scott would be great they just don't want them, I honestly think Mab left a bad taste in their mouth.
August 16, 201312 yr Member Give Shelly a chance. No. I am done with this stupid merry go round. There is only one answer to this, and they're not going to go for it. So, I'm done. Jean fuckin' Passanante at The Young and the Restless. God, just cancel it now. It's truly astounding to me. While Y&R was never really my bag, it was always, plain and simple, a cut above the rest. It may have not been to my taste, but it was number one with a bullet and it existed on its own plane and did its own special thing. It never aspired to look, feel, sound or act like another soap opera on TV, let alone the ABC soaps that have been in various states of conditional success or creative disarray since Disney took over in the mid-'90s. Now it seems like all anyone BTS at this show cares about - and this has been going on since Latham and MAB, so it's bigger than any one creative team - is making Y&R into a "peppy and cheap" ABC soap as quickly as possible, to compete with failing shows that Y&R still has superior ratings to. And I am an ABC soap fan first and foremost, but all they've brought over from to Y&R are the unpopular aesthetic or core elements about the ABCD/Disney culture that ABC fans hate. It's like CBS and Sony are determined to devalue and strip mine the property of its brand identity for as long as possible to make sure no one ever touches it again (see also: ATWT and GL). It really is astounding the way they've rapidly, over the course of just a handful of years, transmogrified the flagship into an imported bad ABC soap. Can I just marry this post? Objectivity from a soap/TV viewer? OMG  Edited August 16, 201312 yr by YRBB
August 16, 201312 yr Member Ok Im gonna say this I love that PP is giving soap writers with history but not much HW tenure a chance at the helm. The network shows need to do this. We need a Harding Lemay, Claire Labine and a Michael Malone type Edited August 16, 201312 yr by John

We need a Harding Lemay, Claire Labine and a Michael Malone type No, the network shows, specifically Y&R, need to beg on their hands and knees to the few writers who knew how to write the show, were mentored by the creator and EP for the vast majority of the shows run and proved themselves with successful years of story.
August 16, 201312 yr Member This may sound brutal of me... I'm just glad Jeanne Cooper isn't alive to see this disastrous crap onscreen.
August 16, 201312 yr Member I think it's time that CBS/Sony stops screwing around playing musical hack soap writers from other shows and get veterans like Kay Alden back who was there nearly from the beginning or find fresh new talent that are also fans of the show (watched at least 15 years or longer), know the history, characters etc.....what they don't know, they need to make them read the Y&R books and show them some older archived footage.
August 16, 201312 yr Member Nancy Curlee and Stephen Demorest. JFP knows how talented they are; she needs to woo them. They would be perfect for Y&R and their not of advanced age and not young...Been away a while and could come in and infuse the show with emotion.
August 16, 201312 yr Member I still suspect Altman and co. (Passanante, whoever) are just placeholders for Bob Guza and possibly Meg Bennett. That's how this'll end. Because getting rid of JFP or depowering her these days is not as easy as it once was, not that it was ever that easy. I think Sony/CBS brought her in with a clear purpose, to "revolutionize" Y&R once and for all a la the "more modern" Frons-era ABC soaps and finish the transformation the last two regimes began, and I've yet to see any indication that they are less than committed to that track. She's like a wood tick now, she burrows in and never leaves unless the whole creative infrastructure is lanced and burnt out. And reuniting the Phelps/Guza "team" which enjoyed such unjust renown for almost a decade would seem ideal to Sony or CBS. I don't think Bob Guza has the first clue how to write any kind of soap anymore other than his Wal-Mart special version of a crime soap. There's a reason Bob never made it in primetime or cable dramas like some people still seem to think he should do - it's because he's not ready for that kind of primetime. He doesn't have it.
August 16, 201312 yr Member The thing is Jill's y and r last week in ratings was 500,000 more than Maria bell. I see Eric Braden is on twitter acting all pissed off. I suggest Eric keep his anger at bay or he will find himself unemployed lol. An enemy of Jill always finds themselves job less.
August 16, 201312 yr Member http://daytimeconfidential.zap2it.com/2013/08/15/eric-braeden-on-the-young-and-the-restless-head-writer-shake-up-im-very-pissed-off Looks like braden not happy! just wait and see what SONY does once the show falls out of its #1 spot!! I firmly believe that JFP's luck of bringing up the ratings using the "Car Wreck on the side of the Road" concept is begining to tarnish. If this show does end it may end JFP's career!
