HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Members

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Worst case scenario is that Brian Frons is executive in charge of production, overseeing both shows. ohmy.png

Imagine if someone like Lena Dunham wrote for AMC or OLTL.

I would love to see a young writer with an appreciation for older people (we exist!) and their stories as well.

While the leaks seem legitimate, the company's ability to follow through seems highly suspect.

Don't put that out there!

My sentiments, exactly! I almost had Frons out of my mind :)

The 30 minute 4 days a week schedule is a good idea. The recap show could be a recap, interview type thing and maybe throw in bloopers, or even have a "The Soup" type segment where they gently mock things.

Of course I am still not getting any hopes up, but at least this time around, there is more concrete info leaked. I also am skeptical of PP following through. They did such a piss poor job last time.

As to casting, with so many AMC cast members in LA now, I wonder how many would go back east to film. If they handled the shooting schedule right, LA people interested in going back could go east for a few weeks, film, then head back. Considering the shorter show, they would also have to, I would think, give the actors more leeway in doing other projects. The pay here would still be lower than network.

I think it is doable, even more so than a year ago. Syfy just finished an online only series called Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome, and while you could see it did not have the production values of a TV show (a tiny cast, limited FX, one story and no sub plots) it still was very impressive and might be the most ambitious online undertaking to date. This episode from 2 months ago has gotten over 2 million hits. The most recent episode from a few weeks ago I think it was, has over a half a million. There is a market for online content and I believe Syfy deemed this series a success and will rebroadcast it on TV and sell it as a DVD as well.

I'm sure the production quality will be fine. I still feel like people expect the websoaps we've seen. I don't think that will be the case at all. In my mind, they're TV shows who just happen to air on the web.

I need to start seeing formal press releases and comments from reliable sources. Not information that has been passed through a hundred sets of ears.

Same.

Sara Bibel@deepsoap

Worst cases scenario: Dena Higley is a financial core writer who used to headwrite #OLTL

Now do you see why I don't want this to get off the damn ground?

I live for the day Agnes Eckhardt Nixon says something like, "It's true, bitch!". On tape. [/Willona Woods]

I'm just praying to God that IF these shows are revived that people who care for the genre, respect each show's history & character, and don't have a problem researching history before writing (the best part of writing IMO) are connected to these shows. Maybe they ought to look around here and hire some people on this boards, as they know the history of these shows like nothing. . .

Jennifer Pepperman is the new OLTL EP: http://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/prospect-park-finds-new-oltl-ep

Sources tell Digest that Jennifer Pepperman, who was a coordinating producer at OLTL, and directed at OLTL and ATWT, where she won an Emmy, has been tapped as the new Executive Producer of ONE LIFE TO LIVE for the Web reboot.

It's hard to know what to think since we really know nothing about Pepperman or Ginger Smith.

Pepperman was a good director on ATWT. Again those sources...I doubt this will take off but if does I see it as a total failure. Most of the fans and actors/tech people have moved on. So what happens to the actors who are at GH now?? Not that its a lot but still....there is just too much still left to do and by the time this takes off...well...
