Members zanereed
Roger, Is there any new GL DVD release coming soon? With the recent "James Stenbeck" release, I was hoping that would equate to a GL release - either a "Roger Thorpe" or "Roger and Holly" release. I would even be happy with an "Alan Spaulding" collection, but one that just highlighted the Chris Bernau years (since that would focus on just the 1980's, which might serve as a more cohesive collection?). Members Y&RWorldTurner
A Roger & Holly collection with episodes from the 70's to early 90's would be ideal. I think it would be more successful than the Stenbeck collection, as I believe Roger to be a much more well-known/revered character.
Members Soapsuds
I'd love an Alan Spaulding DVD myself with Chris Benearu.
Members RogerNewcomb
Stenbeck took off after a while, just a slow starter. I've suggested Roger & Holly and just Roger. Nothing in the works but I love those characters. Soapsuds, I suggested an early Alan DVD but that morphed into the Phillip collection.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Me too, Roger and Holly are part of what got me into GL in the first place. To this day, I've never felt the same way about any other soap pairing, they were the anti-soap supercouple, and I loved every minute of it. If there does happen to eventually be set with them, could they use this picture on the box?: instead of this picture:
Members RogerNewcomb
Ha. It's hard on their designers I think with the old stuff because there are no high-res digital pictures. I wish we had today's quality big versions of so many old classic photos. But that's why sometimes the photos used aren't what you might have picked. Members ~bl~
I agree Rolly = anti-supercouple. With the artwork, I thought some of the pictures were odd. Considering how small they are, I don't get why there would be that much of a problem. It isn't like they need 9 x 9 photos at 1200 DPI or something of that nature for a DVD. I just thought the art department was in a rush and it was more important to get the DVDs out than the outside packaging. I agree with Y&RWorldTurner that I'd rather not have a kidnapping or rape picture to represent Roger and Holly unless it matches with the episode included and with that set it does. Members DavidsMuse
I'll always love Roger/Holly, separately and especially together in all their heartbreaking dysfunctionalness, and I'll buy any DVD/streaming episode with them in it! Members zanereed
Roger, Were you able to view those two episodes you found in the archives from 1976? Was there any Roger/Holly content in either one? Just curious.
Members RogerNewcomb
Sadly, no. Hope to review all the pre-1979 footage at some point.
Members DRW50
I've finally been watching some of the 1984 episodes on the DVDs. It was so thoughtful of you to include the day after of the fountain Reva scene on the Reva DVD. I do have to wonder if the Reva and Lewis family backstory was a little too much for GL viewers. Complicated family dynamics are one thing, but Reva, Billy, and HB all loved Reva, Josh and Billy also hated her, were obsessed with her, and in this episode, she decided to go to bed with the man who was basically her father figure. While the HB/Reva scenes were incredibly written and acted and directed, everything, I wonder if it was all way too much too soon. Jim and Hillary seem like such a sweet couple, the perfect balance to each other. Claire/Fletcher don't work for me. They're both too manic. I didn't understand the Rick/Mindy scenes. That type of behavior (pushing her down into the fountain and wiping her makeup off and telling her he "found" her again before he leaves her for good) just seems nasty for someone like Rick who was supposed to be a sweet guy. I'm not sure what Mindy did to warrant that. It was like they were doing a generic Pam Long leading man scene and he got the script that day. I love Judi Evans and Beverlee McKinsey together. Who was playing Darcy's mother? She looked so familiar.

Members Chris B
It doesn't seem like they have much of anything planned anytime soon. I'm going to hope this is just a summer break and they'll be back with stuff by September.
Members soapfave06
I'm definitely hoping this is just a break too. I miss looking forward to which dvd was coming out next and digging into classic episodes.
