There will not be a second season of Prime Video’s YA series “The Runarounds,” which starred former “General Hospital” actor William Lipton (ex-Cameron Webber).
The series, which premiered last September on the streaming service, features real-life members of The Runarounds band, which includes Lipton, as part of a group of recent high school graduates from Wilmington, North Carolina, who come together the summer after graduation to form a rock band, united by their shared love of music and near-impossible dream of stardom. Over the course of one unforgettable summer, they throw themselves into the pursuit of their big break—falling in love, getting into trouble, and building the kind of bonds that feel like family along the way.
Real-life band members Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock and Jesse Golliher joined Lipton in the series, which also starred Lilah Pate, Maximo Salas, Kelley Pereira, Marley Aliah, Mark Wystrach, Brooklyn Decker, Hayes MacArthur and Shea Pritchard.
In addition to sharing a photo collage on Instagram highlighting his experience working with the cast and crew, Lipton said in the post caption, “No season 2 it’s a bummer but just wanted to express my deepest love and gratitude for everything and everyone involved with this project.”
“It’s been an insane almost 6 years and my life has been forever changed for the better,” continued Lipton. “Big thank you to everyone who watched and supported. We’ll catch you futhermuckers on the road got plenty more shows and more coming if yall want keep dreaming no small dream and write love songs that change the world.”
Responding to Lipton’s post, Robert Adamson (ex-Michael Corinthos, “General Hospital”; ex-Noah Newman, ” The Young and the Restless”) said, “I’m sorry man! Was an absolute pleasure taking my daughter to your Show in SD! We were really rooting for you! You are all super stars!” Robert Palmer Watkins, who also previously starred on “General Hospital” as Dillon Quartermaine, and musically goes by the name Palmer, responded to Adamson’s post, commenting, “Kind words, brother. He’s right. Only the beginning @williamlipton keep shining.”
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Skydance Television, executive producers include Jonas Pate, Joon Yun, David Wilcox, Josh Pate, Shannon Burke, Scott Lambert, and Lisa Mae Fincannon, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television.
Music from the official soundtrack, including “Funny How The Universe Works” and “Senior Year,” was released through Arista Records at series launch. “Senior Year” was the first song written and recorded by the real-life band.
On Tuesday, April 7, The Runarounds band kicks off their 19-city tour, titled “The Minivan Tour,” with a sold out crowd in Toronto, ON. Other stops include Buffalo, NY; Cleveland, OH; Atlanta, GA; Richmond, VA; New Orleans, LA; Orlando, FL; and Jacksonville, FL. For more information about the tour, including how to purchase tickets, visit the band’s official website.
