The Dec. 3, 1981, upload, plus this clip, reveals a funny little quirk of the time. "Enid-vision," a.k.a. a sepia tint, for her flashbacks.

Later on, they went for a slightly more conventional approach, having a border around them.

@Franko Thanks for pointing that out. I wondered how long it lasted. I much prefer it to the squiggly corner lines - it adds more character. I appreciate the effort they made compared to most soaps, which often just threw them onscreen.

I was actually thinking about it in those terms, how it would have been interesting if characters had their own hues for their own flashbacks.

I love that. Silent films used to have different hues for scenes to show the emotional state of the moment.

Funny to hear Erica saying Kent is "a real Southern gentleman." She wouldn't be saying that much longer.

I can see why they recast as he does not read as a cosmetics king at all, although he's not awful. Considering Lee Godart was allegedly one of the few co-stars Lucci didn't get along with (IIRC) I wonder how she felt about the change. 

Poor Donna is such a puppy dog for Chuck.

Lee Godart always turned me off completely, on both AMC and TEON. I would have preferred Woods remain in the role, TBH. Did anybody discern actual chemistry between Godart and Lucci? I can't say that I ever did.

Saw these scenes tonight, and wow!

That Kent definitely has a different vibe from LG, but I like him, and in that short scene, I could sense some good chemistry between he and Susan. Just from looks and mannerisms, he reads to me as AMC's attempt at to jump on the Ewing/Buchanan bandwagon.

I love watching how different series incorporate flashbacks into their episodes.

On Peyton Place: The Next Generation, the director chose to use sepia tone (like in the opening and closing scenes of The Wizard of Oz) when showing flashbacks to the original 1964-69 primetime drama, and I found it both nostalgic and effective.

(BTW, I don't know why, but I was surprised to discover that Jean Bruce Scott played the comatose Allison MacKenzie in that 1985 film.)

I love when shows give us flashbacks from the distant past.

I've always liked Michael Woods' work, starting with GL, where he played Dr. Jim Reardon.  He isn't the greatest of actors, but he's handsome enough and carries enough of a presence to keep your attention.
