Think about it. Dina walks away from her husband and children and lives a jet set life, then remarries a wealthy man, eventually becomes widowed, and inherits a corporation. I remember reading that Aaron Spelling was a huge fan of Bill Bell and his writing. That was one of the reasons he chose Y&R for his 1983 film Mr. Mom where Michael Keaton becomes addicted to watching it. In the 90's when Spelling came out with Sunset Beach he said he wanted it be like a Bell soap. There was at one point rumors of a feud between the two.

That didn't happen until March 1986. 1 hour ago, SoapDope said: In the 90's when Spelling came out with Sunset Beach he said he wanted it be like a Bell soap. That was either a really bold-faced lie (likely), or he failed miserably!

I would so love to see more of the Brent Davis and Ashley stuff if it exists, especially considering that it is still being used in today’s storylines!
February 1, 20188 yr Member I always viewed Jill as more the Alexis Carrington type moreso then Dina..imho. For long time viewers, was Deborah Adair's take on Jill more of a Krystle/Alexis hybrid? I know that in Brenda Dickson's first episode back in the role (i don't know if still on youtube, probably not).. she had a more regal/harsher tone then Deborah Adair could ever have had playing Jill...imho. Bill Bell was a master at keeping characters in their separate stories/lives.. and then intersecting them at surprising moments (i.e. Spring 1984.. Ashley is attending Victor/Ashley's wedding as a guest... by Spring 1985.. Victor/Ashley are starting the road toward an affair... years later... Ryan Mcneil/Victoria were a Romeo/Julie story in summer 1991 while Nina was dealing with the David Kimball mess.. by summer 1992.. Nina/Victoria/Ryan triangle was in full swing). Y and R was a show that wasn't about everyone knowing one another (especially in the early 80s).. so I don't know how a Marland/Nixon would have altered that if they had taken the helm..etc.
February 1, 20188 yr Member Deborah Adair was more a Sue Ellen type. She was softer but not a pushover.

I haven't seen the full episode, only a clip from a promo that was on YT. 7 hours ago, SoapDope said: I remember reading that Aaron Spelling was a huge fan of Bill Bell and his writing. I remember there were rumors about Bill Bell and Aaron Spelling having beef in the late 1990s, around the time of the Hunter Tylo lawsuit. There was also actor swapping between Y&R/B&B and Spelling's shows of the time. Edited February 1, 20188 yr by kalbir

You would never see Victor hanging out at Crimson Lights (albeit to visit his family). You would never see random people sitting in Victor's office chair etc. I miss that.

February 4, 20188 yr Author Member Thanks. I'd never seen that. It's a shame the show seemed to give up on them after that.
February 4, 20188 yr Member I had know idea they had a scene with a "message in the sky"....soaps probably don't have the budget for any of that stuff... sigh...I miss HT as Victoria :/
February 7, 20188 yr Member I have some great news that I will soon be buying 3 episodes of Y&R from 1980!!!! The dates are April 14th, April 16th, and June 16th, and they surround the storyline of Nikki being in the cult. Bond Gideon, who I never personally saw play Jill Foster, played her from February-July of 1980. So there may even be a chance we get to see her as Jill; we also might get to see Derek Thurston, who I also have never personally seen act as Derek, not one single scene. So stay tuned!

February 7, 20188 yr Member I'm just as excited as you all are!! I've never seen one episode from the years 1976-1981, my biggest hope is that one day we will have the full episodes from the fall of 1979 where the Kay/Derek/Suzanne/Jill saga heats up whenever Kay shows up and reveals herself to Derek and Jill by crashing through the terrace glass! I also hope to someday see episodes from 1978 with Erica Hope as Nikki, as well as episodes from 1981 concerning Edward kidnapping Nikki. A huge want of mine is also to see episodes that Lauren is featured in from her first year in 1983 (especially the episode where Tracy dumps her sundae on Lauren's head), as well as the Tracy/diet pills storyline where she has the convulsions after crashing her car. All great stuff that I've never seen!
