Going back in time here Brenda Epperson left Y&R on 12/21/95 and they gave the character Ashley a break until the infamous Shari Shattuck made her debut on 3/12/96. The opening was updated just for Shattuck!

Eileen first returned either Feb or March 99?

I figure wev'e seen this before, but have to post it again, getting a good glimpse of Leslie's mental institution storyline, there was certainly nothing as dark and terrifying at that time on daytime TV. I remember it all, and it was really scary for a 7 year old to watch.

LOL I guess there's a good reason most of the 1996-1998 material with Ashley is off youtube...... although I still have the clear image of her swing dancing with Cole from that one episode....

I previously noted somewhere, maybe about 100 pages ago lol  that Heather Tom had left Y&R in early '97 and her final airdate was 2/21/97 and eventually returned on 10/2/97. The recast, Sarah Aldrich made her debut on 4/2/97 and only lasted until 7/17/97. Her last scenes were of finding out with Nick that Victor and Diane had become coupled, she didn't even an exit before the show put Victoria in a holding pattern until Tom returned. It was only mentioned later on that Victoria had left town again to handle Newman's international business and take another break from Cole, enough for Cole and Ashley to start an affair when Cole approached Ashley to be the subject/model for a novel he was writing. 

 

Shattuck's final airdate was 2/22/99, the same day as Sandra Nelson's.

wow so Aldrich was really a "blink and you would miss her"....

maybe I should start collecting some April-July 1997 episodes that might have her on it...There's not much from that year anyway though from watching the credits from those years they had WAY too many characters....though I'm sure they were used more properly back then....

I guess we would really have to dig to find Eileen's first airdate in 82....I know it was June....and supposedly she last aired the first time 12/2/88 with Brenda starting the following monday 12/5/88, but that really can't be confirmed....

I didn't mean to post that twice lol. I'm still reformatting that 1997 archive file but I do have that both Ashley Jones and Sabryn Genet both made their debut on 2/18/97 and both Megan and Tricia took an instant disliking for Jill. 

It's interesting there was no break between the transition from Davidson to Epperson yet there were gaps between Epperson and Shattuck and Shattuck and Davidson. Davidson was even still in the opening credits for good month and a half while Epperson was already on. 

 

Shattuck's first story upon Ashley's return from Paris was because Dina had come back to Genoa City. Ashley was still harboring a lot of resentment and anger towards both Dina and Mari Jo and still trying to understand Blade/Rick.  She also didn't like Nikki and Brad being together. She started moving first seeing a fellow lab co-worker named Adam Hunter as played by Grant Cramer who previously played the infamous Shawn Garret before it went nowhere. She also had a date with a dayplayer character named  Steve that had no further continuance.

Paul Wants Chris Again

 

 

May just may be the month for reconciliations. By hook or by crook, Phyllis was intent on keeping her man. Now that Dr. Reid testified (falsely, we might add) that Phyllis and Danny owed it to their marriage to try and work it out, Danny finds himself legally obliged to give his marriage a chance.  Again! And Phyllis is determined to make sure that her man never leaves her. Again! Meanwhile, Christine works to find out why Dr. Reid ruled the way that he did. As she works to help her ex husband and becomes increasingly intrigued by her boss Victor Newman, Christine finds herself pining away for Paul less and less. So when he finally comes around, reconsidering his decision to call off their engagement, will Chris be amiable to wearing his ring once again? Or is he too late? Ashley has been causing a lot of problems and heartache lately! She doesn’t seem to be the same sweet chemist who left for Paris a few months ago. On the eve of Nikki and Brad’s wedding, Ashley makes one last ditch attempt to gauge Brad’s interest in a possible reconciliation. Or at least a one-night stand before he’s taken off the market. When the two share a kiss, is it a)meaningless, passionate, or c) merely congratulatory? Nikki doesn’t want to play multiple choice, and the near-newlyweds have a huge argument over his ex-love.

It must be almost summer: The smell of another custody battle for Little Billy is in the air! Last year, John took Jill to task for her sexual indiscretions and stepping out on their marriage. John then fell in love with housekeeper Mamie. The whole fiasco threatened to expose itself in court, but at the 11th hour, the couple decided to remain under the same roof to give Billy a proper home. My, how things change! Jill’s been aching to slip between the sheets with another man(we're looking at you Ryan!), but she’s shown some restraint, knowing that eventually the “old man”(her husband) would crack. Now he wants to rekindle with his first wife Dina. This puts Jill in a good position as she lays down her ultimatum: Unless she gets custody of her and John’s son, she’ll drag Madame Mergeron’s butt through the mud, splashing her face and John’s across the tabloids.

 

 

 

 

Keesha’s Last Days

 

 

As Malcolm sees that Keesha is on her last legs, he makes a surprisingly selfless gesture that has his family in an uproar. This romantic turn will change his outlook on the future forever.  That is, if he can get Olivia and Drucilla to stay out of the way and keep from interfering. Olivia has her own hands full when Nathan comes to see his son.
