Since it sounds like Brooke will be "lording" this secret over Stephanie, I doubt it is a Jill/Katherine scenario. High odds it involves paternity, since everything on the show revolves around family. We've already been down the road with ownership of the company, so that's not it. Illness, thought I doubt it -- could be compelling if it's a situation where Brooke helps Stephanie through it and they finally come to an understanding. If it's the "definite" storyline, this would make sense. After 23+ years of battling over Widge, even Stephanie knows that after the Oliver thing, Brooke and Ridge are together for good. The Bridget thing could work because we know what Mike did to Shield in the lab (I don't know if that was ever resolved conclusively), but then you have the icky Nick thing. (Re: theory of Brooke being Massimo's child -- Brooke has a child with Nick, too, so no paternity switch for her/Ridge/Nick. They might get away with incest with adults, but not if they've resulted in children -- that's a taboo and a curse that I don't think any audience would accept.) Right now, B&B's best s/l involves Bill/Katie/Liam/Hope (three outstanding actors, who are raising the bar for Hope). It was a good move to put her in a positive story right away as opposed to weeping over Brooke/Oliver, etc.

I like the idea of revisiting Bridget's paternity. That original story left open a huge mystery which was never resolved -- namely, who wrote and left that letter to Ridge telling him Bridget was not his daughter? And who killed the doctor who supposedly wrote the letter and di the paternity test. When Sheila and Mike were messing around with the test results when Bridget was a baby, they ended up not knowing WTF they were doing. I love that it is one of those secrets which has been in the ether for years and years - since the very early 90s, I believe. Bill Bell did love this kind of thing. Of course, Bradley is not WJB and it remains to be seen how this story will play out, IF it is even played out, or whether Brad will go a more sensationalist route.

Plus it focuses on Bridget, and I really REALLY like Ashley Jones' portrayal of the character.

^^ B&B brings out the wild optimist in me, Sylph. No other show can do that but this ball of 18 minute trash.

It's as you said in one of the threads on DTS this weekend -- there is something about B&B which makes it easier to envisage being able to "salvage" the show and make it better, tighter, a richer viewing experience. It has the history, the mix of characters of all ages in search of a story, the loyal vets. Now it needs to overhaul its production and wardrobe departments (do it, Ed Scott!)and, most importantly, start writing emotionally resonent stories that actually stick. Why not, Bradley? Why not give it a try? For the hell of it. You really have nothing left to lose.

I'm sure it will cross the point of no return very soon as other shows have (if it hasn't already), though. But for now I can enjoy speculating about future SLs from the comfort of SON.

After thinking about there are two reasons why I don't think it's about Bridget: 1) the character is involved in a show-eating storyline right now with Owen/Jackie and 2) so Brooke finds a letter that shows Stephanie knew or arranged a switch -- that's hardly a relationship defining S/L. I also would find it hard to believe that Stephanie would have stood back while Bridget got involved with Nick.

I'm gonna be optimistic and hope that Brad really has something up his sleave which is NOT connected to a WTD-story.

Maybe we're gonna see someone from the past as part of this twist. Maybe Stephanie has been writing love letters to James Warwick, just as Brooke is ready to discover her lust for him. Everything is possible.

If Brad actually WERE smart, Brooke's discovery would lead to a reveal that Bill Spencer Sr. is actually alive and kicking... Two Evil-Bills would be delicious!

    • Ann Williams was the first Maggie Powers on The Doctors but left to have a baby. Maggie was successfully recast so Ann picked up the role of Eunice (Jo's sister on Search for Tomorrow) and played that role for 10 years before being killed of in 1976. That led to her role of Margo on EON.
    • Looking at those totals it seems most contract actors are on a 1 or 2 week average guarantee. I assume contracts are still operating on 13 week cycles so you would have to know the particular actors contract starting date to work out their guarantee. The question remains as to what actors listed as contract are actually recurring? Bryton ?
    • Yep, that scene was at the conclusion of the Derek Thurston vs George Packard storyline, when Kay decided neither of them should run Chancellor.  By the time she put Victor in charge, Victor had been on the show for months & months with his Rolls Royce, his ranch, and Newman Enterprises.  SONY released some Y&R "trivia cards" in the late 1980s, and one of the questions was "who brought Victor Newman to Genoa City?" The answer on the back of the card is "Kay Thurston, to run Chancellor Industries", and it's a wrong answer lol.
    • I think someone said it did exist, but I can't remember.
    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.
