November 9, 200916 yr Member I've been thinking alot lately about how it would be if Jill Farren Phelps came to Y&R, in light of MAB's reign of terror on the show.

November 9, 200916 yr Member ES seems to be very unhappy whenever Viki's on the back burner, which of course seems like an obvious statement, but a part of me is like, "You've been busting your ass on the front burner for damn near 40 years, enjoy your light days!" And naturally, she seems to love love love whoever's running the show when Viki is front and center, regardless of what craptasticness is going on with the other citizens of Llanview. All of those FOJ seem to have that in common, "Well she was always wonderful to ME", well you know, that's great, but when it's YOU getting the shaft as some of your castmates become the new EP's little darlings, I don't want to hear it.
November 9, 200916 yr Member This sounds like a JONNYSBRO's type question. Well I've been contemplating this idea since the production quality for Y&R has gone down in spades,(Have you seen GH lately, it looks better than Y&R right now.) which is a no brainer considering who is producing the show next to MAB. Like WorldTurner, I think JFP would excell if paired with a capable HW like she had on Guiding Light.

We've been wishing this FOREVER. Oh, and yet another thread that turns into a JFP bash. I thought we were talking about Claire Labine? Edited November 9, 200916 yr by Jonathan

November 9, 200916 yr Member I remember reading a quote from Peter Bergman, saying that he thought OLTL (during the JFP/No-HW era) was an adult, sexy soap opera. All I remember for Phelps' stint at OLTL is the horrific Rappaports. The actress who played Jenn Rappaport was abysmal and she was on almost everyday. She was Phelps' own Carly. I had to laugh when a serial killer took out Jenn. I didn't know if that was Phelps, but it was her modus operandi for committing violence against women. Wasn't the majority of the Jenn Rappaport Show during the Gary Tomlin and Broderick/Whitesell teamwork? JFP was gone by 2001 and infected GH by the height of the Jenn Rappaport Hour. So, Sinclair, any thoughts on the interview? Anything that got your attention? No, nothing really. Found Harding Lemay's interview much more interesting.
November 10, 200916 yr Member Yeah, Jenn debuted at the very end of JFP's run at OLTL, it was Tomlin/Whitesell that forced her down everyone's throats.
November 10, 200916 yr Member Part 6 is up. http://www.welovesoaps.net/2009/11/soaps-hope-claire-labine-interview-part_09.html#more Great read for any GL fan
November 10, 200916 yr Member Jordan walked in and Justin gave him a look and this little graph shot straight to the top! It was the highest recognition of interest we had all day. But that “didn’t count.” The tester knew what she was supposed to say. She was smart enough to read where the network’s interests were and she was reinforcing them. I wonder how much money is wasted running these focus groups.
November 10, 200916 yr Member Thanks. I'm glad she realizes that she helped the character of Olivia. I guess they didn't have plans for Holly/Olivia after all? That wasn't mentioned in the interview. She was much more fond of the Edmund/Beth story than I was. I liked them more when she was Lorelei. That's interesting about how hard she pushed Billy/Holly/Buzz. At the time I think a lot of fans dismissed it as trying to dump all the vets into one story to save time.
November 10, 200916 yr Member I loved DAM as Edmund. The Edmund/Beth romance and his close relationship with Susan and Lizzie were the best. So of course, GL gets rid of him in favor of the horrific actor who played Richard. This show made mistake after mistake over the years. This is why I didn't blink when it was cancelled.
November 10, 200916 yr Member This interview's kind of a snooze. She was much more candid when I heard her speak in NYC.
November 10, 200916 yr Member I think the interview is great. The only frustrating part for me is that Claire has forgotten the character names and actor names, it kind of reminds you that it's a job to her and doesn't mean as much to her as it does to the fans.
