Fair enough. However, as I've posted upthread, I have had the opportunity (privilege, really) to read Casiello's work, and in my opinion, he has "the knack". Yes, I'm sure Higley, Latham or Sheffer imposed certain plot points upon his breakdown(s); however, it's how he finessed those into solid and entertaining outlines that made the difference. (After all, a good script is more than just good dialogue, right? The structure has to be tight as well.)

IA. That's why I try not to put him on any sort of pedestal. Yes, I believe him to be a good writer, but I'm not suggesting he's the "bestest (breakdown) writer who ever lived!". He's "good", and we certainly need more like him in soaps. That's all.

As Walt Whitman once said: Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself, I am large, I contain multitudes.

Not as mind-boggling, though, as some conversations I've had on Facebook. (Jeebus, what was I smoking that night w/ T.R.?!)

That's good. I'll have to use that sometime, casual-like, in conversation.

Quiet, you! Let the good doctor speak. ;-)

Hogan doesn't hire the writing staff though. Yeah, of course networking helps - that's how the business works.

I can only speak for myself.....I just think he's an awesome, friendly, genuine guy. Yes, I do like him as a breakdown writer (he wrote some of my favorite DAYS eps in 2007, ie. John's Funeral, the Thanksgiving ep), but knowing that he's those things I mentioned, makes me love the guy even more. LOL Alvin, remember that 3-4 hour discussion at ITZ chatroom with Tom where stopped by and we (along with Shawn, and I forget who else was there) went to like 2-3am and we discussed like every soap (even cancelled ones like PC, AW). I cannot say enough about how cool and down to earth he is. So yeah, that's where my Casiello lovefest comes from. :D

Sure it is.

What Khan said. It's not like we pronouncing him as the great breakdown writer ever. We're just saying, we like the guy, that's all. :)

What Alvin said. You think a breakdown writer, on a trial no less, is going to come in and change the direction and ruin of the show? Come on, man. LOL I expected more writer-knowledge from you, Ron!! I'm disappointed in you. :P;)

LOL this tiresome ish again. It's an OPINION and it's mine, please don't perceive you can speak for me or read my mind.

The man gets what makes soaps tick. Go back and read his blogs all the way through. The man GETS IT.

He'll be an asset to Y&R. I'm not surprised though, he's not the kind of guy Frons would want around, he doesn't seem like he would cowtow to Fronsie

Awww...I'm touched you think highly of me, Toups. :P:D

Yeah, I know a lot about writers. Tom was not very good the last time on Y&R. How do we know he gets it now?...LOL But I know he is on trial bases. ;)

Wow, that's...vivid.

Needless to say, I am in total agreement w/ you, DF. Maria's giving him a chance (...and so should we). Trust me, with economics as rotten as they are right now, if he isn't up to her standards, she'll let him go. As simple as that.

No, I won't, I hate this insinuation. I really have no time to go digging through your old posts pointing out to exactly that. :P It doesn't matter? Really? My, my. :D Of course it matters. Of course people are allowed to change their opinion. What I wanted to say is that I find strange, to use that adjective, that you first professed undying love and all of a sudden when Alvin, Sinclair and Co. started hating Tom, you jumped onto that bandwagon, too. :P That's all. But then again... You're a Libra. You're like a pendulum, oscillating between one point and the other.

No, I don't.

Like I said.

    • Nope, it was not just you, I had the same issues. Most either disagreed with me, or just ignored my comments. But, I most definitely would have liked for them to take another route, even to add sheer variety in the storytelling. It is what it is, the story is a hit with the fans...
    • You may be a casual watcher, but you got SO much right.
    • I've been eagerly awaiting Kate's first episode under the new writers, and I wasn't disappointed. I started reminiscing about all of Kate's misdeeds when she said how good of a liar she was and how she saw right through Roman's lying. I really buy this matured, but still wise Kate in 2025, and the fact that you know under the right circumstances, the more ruthless side is always there, under the surface. Hopefully, with Roman about to confess, we get the full truth about just what the hell happened with Johnny the night EJ was shot, then all the major suspects will be eliminated, just for the writers to throw in that wrench that's waiting for it's time to shine. Everytime Brady thaws even a little bit towards Kristen I immediately get concerned. I was entertained by their fight, and it was smart to mention Kirsten having no friends, let alone positive female relationships except for Lani in regards to why Rachel is such a loser. As a viewer, do you think Stacy Haiduk as Kristen was at all thinking about her former friendships with Jennifer and Billie in that moment? I wonder if she's even aware that they were, or who Billie even is. Anyway, I do wish Kristen could have also thrown in Brady's face that he's literally the biggest slut in Salem. Rachel seeing and possibly hearing about him going from woman to woman would also negatively affect Rachel's negative ideals about women, and possibly her own self-hatred. I thought Doug's favourite class being English lit was a good through line from how impressed he was with grandpa Doug's poetry book to Julie. Hearing he dropped out because no one at home cared just made me yearn for more information about Charles LeClair as a father and person. Maybe it was this time that Robert LeClair was dying so Charles was distracted and it all fell apart after that? Alex with Kristen today is the most interesting I've seen him written. He was smarmy and cold and for a quick second looked like he was enjoying playing with Kristen clearly throwing herself at him, but when she dropped her facade he became merciful, but still unwilling to budge. He would have fit in well in the more complex 70s era as a cad with a heart underneath his bravado. However, and I can't stress this enough, I absolutely despise whenever he calls Philip, 'Phil.' It just itches my brain in all the wrong ways.
    • Tamara Tunie said on her IG today that the current season of BTG ends at the end of August.  Then Season Two begins. https://www.instagram.com/p/DJkCcNQRxBR/ Edit:  I have more detail, but I'll move that over the the renewal thread

    • This is what happens when you write for character over actor.
    • I assume Holly is Nicole's kid, right?  If so, the casting on the actress was spot on since she totally had some of Nicole's mannerisms/aura. Kristen is being shown as human again.. which we haven't seen from the character since Eileen's 1 year return back in the early 2010s. Kate is now running the Brady Pub?
    • I think most people's knowledge of DNA tests comes from Maury. I dont think she nor most people would even think to consider genetic markers
    • Calendar year, at least going by when the Season Numbers have changed in the past several years on GH and on DAYS it's been calendar years. What their start dates are though haven't necessarily made inherent sense to me.  Hmm, interesting point. I'm used to being for underdogs, as well, but I am very invested in the Duprees.
