Khan has obviously intentionally misunderstood everything R Sinclair wrote. That was expected. Antagonistic &quot;stuff&quot; going on between us. I find it hilarious and am enjoying myself enormously. <img src="http://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

No, I have not. I understand every word R Sinclair has written, and I agree with him also. I complimented Toups for calling you on your obnoxiousness. You'd see that, too, if you weren't so busy intentionally misreading everything I wrote.

Wonderful. Now would you mind enjoying yourself someplace else? Some post-ers here actually want to engage in meaningful dialogue, not gratuitous s**t-stirring.

By the way, Sylph? Referring to me as "Can" in your post before editing it? Not very clever.

Och!

Some fans really like, say, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse and J.J. Abrams. This is not just because they collaborate on a fine, fine, fine, fine (did I mention fine?) show...but because of their accessibility. They make it clear that -- while their creative product is their own -- they listen to the fans. Also, they play the game of tease and hide...in other words, they do everything they can to maximize fan enjoyment.

There are plenty of other examples out there of similar kinds of folks. Tim Kring at Heroes. They guys behind One Tree Hill, Everwood. The EP/HW of all but the last season of Gilmore Girls. These are the people who give Michael Ausiello scoops every week.

Tom has positioned himself -- and one sense this was done out of passion, NOT strategically -- as a bridge between fandom and the creative world. So, we have a feeling that when he writes for Y&R, he does so with insight into what fans want...and he will at least have that in the back of his mind as tries to translate the HW vision for the script writer.

You know the old cliche, "food tastes better when it is cooked with love?". Tom has clearly shown his love of the genre. And to me, THAT MATTERS. Even if his blog stops and we never hear from him again, he has made it clear that he will write FOR us, with love.

There may be 50 other writers just like them...but they still maintain the (outdated?) distance from the fans. Because we do not know them, we cannot give them the same admiration.

All of which agrees with Brimike's point, but from a different vantage point. It's not that fans like Tom "just because he talked to them". It is that "because Tom talked to them, and shared his likeability and passion for the genre, he has acquired fans who wish him nothing but good will as he tries to be a good steward of one of their beloved shows".

I concur with Brimike. Play nice. Why would we do otherwise? Here -- really for the first time in my otherwise happy enjoyment of SON -- I find myself questioning the animus, and wonder if it is something like jealousy, or an inability to celebrate the small victory of someone who has only done good for fans.

Me? I hope Tom is a raving success. I hope Y&R is around 20 years from now and -- if he wants that -- Tom is still there with it.

Also, I can't WAIT to see what young Tom does with young Amber :)

No no no :) I know this is the wrong thread, but I am NOT giving up on the fact that Andrea Evans = Tawny Moore = Patty Williams. I am not giving up on the fact that Amber is, in fact, the offspring of Patty/Tawny and Jack Abbott, making her a scion of the Williams and Abbott clans. I am not giving up on this :). Thus, Andrea needs to go to Y&R.

Like DaytimeFan, I speculated in one of the Spoiler threads that I think this either means (a) Kay Alden is leaving, or (B) Brad has FINALLY agreed to become EP-only, and a new HW (someone the columnist likes) is taking his place as HW.

Well, I made my calls and if Kay Alden is gone from the writing team it's the best kept secret in the world. However, a change in the writing team, from what I hear, would not be a surprise...not necessarily an addition, but a reshuffling. One person, who shall remain nameless, thought everything was very up in the air...so basically, nobody really knows what the hell is going on.

I never come to this thread but I popped in to see what people were saying about the TCas news. This has been interesting to read.

Mark if you aren't careful, I may propose to you again.

I have absolutely no opinion on Casiello or Y&R but ITA with this statement. All the writers you mention above (Lindelof, Cuse, Kring) think of the audience as their customers but IMO they also remember when they were part of that audience. Most soap people (writers, management, even actors) hate the viewers. That's obvious.

IMO, its the fact that the audience for soaps is getting smaller. All that left are the hardcores. Hardcore fans and hardcore haters.

Well, your calls didn't do you much good, and I know who Nelson was hinting at.

Someone is in at B&B, but not someone you would expect. This person is well known to soap fans, and this person has CBS ties. IF SOAPSFOREVER, Sylph, or anyone else wants to tell you all who this person is before me, they're welcomed. Until then, you all must guess. :)

And oh, even though this person is well known, you will probably have a hard time guessing who it is. The only hint I'm giving is that this person is NOT from the Bell universe.

And, this really isn't really big news, I bet this person will only be writing scripts.

I will probably reveal who this person is on Monday...

Yay! I get to play the game. Let me do some research before taking some guesses. :) But man, there's sure been plenty of action going on these past couple of weeks.

Here's a teaser for February's teaser......I have 6 teasers for February. ;)

I was noticing all the hardcore action here from the General Discussion header and was wondering OH! WHATS UP!!

Despite my wanting to get all excited and up in arms- these are such blah developments.

Whoopie. Tom Casiello as a scriptwriter at Y&R. Would there even be 10% of this talk if he didn't have a blog and seem like a nice guy?

I would like to hear about any specific episodes he wrote at Y&R. That show is so brilliantly PLOTTED right now by Maria Bell, that I don't think that even a Days writer (yucky) can do much to ruin it. What characters did he write well? What damage did he do? Did he work with that pigslut Latham?

And I agree with Daytimefan and others- If any of you read Nelson Branco's interview with Maria Bell- This woman takes OWNERSHIP of the show. That was clear. You can tell that she does not F-ck around. You can see on the air everyday her complete confidence and intelligence. It is awesome. Y&R is the only soap on the air that doesn't have one iota of that pleading desperation. (V-8 nonwithstanding) but at least that helped people. Well, its ratings are still healthy so the pressure may not be as great- but still. The show is plotted TOTALLY Bill Bell style-its not hiring bands every week. Compare that with my favorite soap OLTL- That show is SCREAMING for people to love it. High comedy, high drama. BANDS! Quick Blackout w/ loud sound effects- BAM! cuts to commercial! The over the topness makes me sad for that poor show sometimes. Carlivati's blood pressure must be through the roof.)

And as far as that godawful B&B- Why don't I hear Patrick Mulcahey's once brilliant words on that piece of s-it show?

Whoever this scriptwriter is, god bless him/her. Its probably someone semi shocking like Carolyn Culliton or something.

That being said- I have kinda liked B&B- THIS WEEK. I will wait to see what happens. Awful acting generally, but I do like the dualing fashion houses plot. Very old school B&B, and I love Leslie Ann Down.

I want some BIG NEWS next time dammit. Like a a co head writer for Ron or hearing that Guza has been canned at GH.

That show has so much potential. I never thought I would start watching GH again- Its been 15 years. The storylines SUCK and it seems like all the old school people are gone and the show focuses on the same 12 characters. But it has something. I cant put my finger on it. But it needs a new vision storyline wise.

Maria Arena Bell will give this dude 3 months. If he doesn't cut it- he will be out. This news is not worrisome.

And again, this Casiello stuff. Don't we just like him because he seems cool and watches soaps? Christ even Michelle Poteet Lisanti has been writing an occasional good episode but I sure as hell wouldn't feel like talking about the chick. She has no blog!

Wow! I'm guessing Y&R doesn't make up the majority of the 6 this time. LOL!

During his first stint, he was only at Y&R for like 3 months and didn't write that many epsidoes for one to judge him adequately there. It was during the Latham era, when everything sucked no matter what. However, with better management at the show now, I know we will get a better chance to see how much he "gets" Y&R and what his quality of work is. All I know is this time he won't get a 24 hour deadline to turn an episode in. Yes, that's how badly Latham mismanaged the show. I have faith that he can deliver good work during his trial period.

Patience is a virtue... :P
