I hope not, but with the ongoing efforts to shut down early voting, the general malaise of the holiday season, the talking point that Democrats don't "need" this seat, etc. it's going to be very close. Hopefully his sheer, dangerous stupidity will be enough to motivate.

LOL! Right?? The promises this baffoon made to all of us. As early (or maybe earlier) as 2016, he said he'd have no issue turning over his taxes, etc. Yeah, he said it so easily and assuringly.

If you ain't got nothing to hide, why fight it?

That's right! Erections matter. It's important to me and it's important to the needs of the American people.

Exacly. And, as much as I despise reports that dark money groups have poured millions of dollars into assisting the orange orangutan in swinging the SCOTUS sharply to the right (by raising a record $48.1 million between July 2020 and June 2021), it's sorta pleasing, even if I'm beyond dissatisfied with this current SCOTUS.

Congressional races that had not yet been called --
UPDATE:

--------

California 3rd Congressional District
Democrat Jones vs. Republican Kiley.

Kiley won.

Jones has conceded.

California 22nd Congressional District
Democrat Salas vs. Republican Valadao
Valadao won. Salas has conceded.

Edit to add a note that Valadao (the Republican who won) was the incumbent and he voted to impeach Trump.

California 34th Congressional District
***Both candidates are Democrats***
Jimmy Gomez vs. David Kim
Gomez has been declared the winner. (Don't know if Kim has conceded yet).
https://www.mercedsunstar.com/news/nation-world/national/article268985927.html

Alaska "At-Large" Congressional District
D-Mary Peltola
R-Sarah Palin
R-Nick Begich
None of them got at least 50%, so it went to "ranked-choice".

Mary Peltola (D) has now officially won in the ranked-choice count.
https://www.adn.com/politics/2022/11/23/rep-mary-peltola-wins-alaskas-us-house-race/

Peltola was the first Alaska Native elected to Congress -- She was first elected several months ago to finished out the term of a Congressman who had died. And now she's been reelected for a full term.

Sarah Palin DEFEATED.

California 13th Congressional District
Democrat Gray vs. Republican Duarte
Duarte is ahead by only 593 votes, race not called yet.
https://www.mercedsunstar.com/news/politics-government/election/article269098742.html

** (I think this is the only race not yet called).

----------------------

UPDATE on Colorado 3rd Congressional District:
Although Frisch conceded to Boebert, the race isn't decided yet!
The margin is too close and there will probably be a recount beginning in early December!
(Decision to recount or not will be announced after Dec. 5th.)
https://www.cpr.org/2022/11/17/colorado-district-3-lauren-boebert-adam-frisch-recount/

--

So that means that Calif 13th and Colorado 3rd are the only two Congressional races that are not called yet, although both have Republicans leading.

Current count:
Democrats 213
Republicans 220
Not final:   2
__________
total 435

The significant news is the Alaska Senate race.
We knew a Republican would win, but it wasn't clear which Republican it would be.

The main candidates were:
Lisa Murkowski - Republican
Kelly Tshibaka - Republican
Patricia Chesbro - Democrat
None of the candidates got over 50% of the vote so it went to ranked-choice votes.

Today November 23,
the ranked choice vote count determined that Murkowski won.
This is a victory because Murkowski defeated the Trump-backed Tshibaka.

https://www.adn.com/politics/2022/11/23/alaska-us-sen-lisa-murkowski-wins-reelection/

This doesn't affect what we already knew to be the total balance/count of Democrat vs. Republican senators in the US Senate; because it was already known that one of the Republicans would win the Alaska senate seat.

But it matters *which* Republican won, because Murkowski is a Republican who voted to impeach Trump, and because of how she votes on some things.

The Senate elections are still at 49 Republicans, and 50 Democrats,
with Georgia to be decided in the Dec. 6  runoff.
We need Warnock to win the runoff, in order for the Senate to be effective.

Regarding whether to leave twitter or not - I don't tweet anyhow. I just know how to search and read public tweets.

For myself, I don't want to be subjected to reading whatever bigotry materializes due to Elon's insanity.   And all the privacy and impersonation issues.

I'm trying out "Post".
It's still in beta form but it feels like twitter, with a focus on reading and discussing interesting news and ideas.
That's my main interest anyhow.  I don't care that much about soap opera tweets anymore.
https://www.thewrap.com/what-is-post-twitter-alternative-news-social-media-mastodon/

There's a wait list of over one hundred thousand, but I was on that wait list for only a few days and I just got in.  If you want to try it out, the wait isn't as long as I would have expected, given the first emails they sent me saying how big was the waiting list.  Also you have to activate your validation email when you first apply to be on the waiting list.  They said that most people haven't done that - which makes the waiting list much smaller.

I didn't have to refer people like it mentions in the article in TheWrap.

There is a second validation email to activate later on ... after you get moved from wait list to regular member.

*** Note that they are still in beta so there will be glitches and bugs. And I have no idea how secure it is.
