The only downside to that election news in Turkey is that some are now suggesting that Erdogan will likely move to strip some powers from the new mayor.   As Erdogan was formerly the mayor of Istanbul, he likely knows the ins and outs of the position as well as the underbelly as to how to weaken the position.

This is just so sad. The people who are trying to help are being turned away because of course hurting these children is a feature not a bug.  Someone who matters needs to call a national day of protest ASAP, even if all people do is stay home that day.  We should be bringing the country to a stop until these kids are out of the camps.

There's a new poll out about younger people, especially women, being less supportive of the lgbt community, for the second year in a row.

It's by GLAAD, an organization I have little to no respect for and which has been tone deaf for a very long time, but I don't have a hard time believing the results. Beyond the increase in tension over transgender issues, we're also living in an era where bigotry and hatred are encouraged in all corners, and people are more and more happy to fall into line with extreme views.

This is also another example of why I think, as I've always thought, that the whole "when old geezers die off young people will make everything a paradise" concept is bullshit.

I'm with you, especially because people have been saying this for over 50 years now. Sadly, as I get older it seems clearer to me that while power is bound to shift, injustice is not going to be eradicated any time soon.

I'm surprised about the poll you mention though. I do always think of young people as more open and accepting on the LGBT front. It seems like there are more parents open to raising children with less rigid gender identities than when I was a kid.  But what do I know? I'm don't know many teenagers and I'm living in a strange little corner of the world.

He'd already been indicted (and re-elected despite it) on charges that he and his wife were misappropriating funds for school tuition and vacays but I guess once the 411 about the five 'side pieces'  came to light, his wife likely decided that she'd had enough.  The question is, have his constituents finally had enough?

Sadly I don't think you're alone. It feels like this is the situation all over the world. I hardly watch the news anymore because they're so depressing.

I'd rather live in a little bubble now and then just to keep my sanity and retain some hope for the future.....

Yes! This is a good start. If they get fired I hope every one who can will donate to help them. We need leaders now who will try to get people motivated to oppose what is happening to these children. I don't even have any good ideas on who could do it, but I'm hoping someone will rise to the occasion.

If he isn't forced out from a conviction he'd likely have to go from a primary. That's the second most Republican district in California and his father represented the district for decades. He also hates all the right people, to the point of bragging about taking photos with dead bodies while in the military.

I'm seeing a lot of anger from the left about Democrats in Congress not being upset enough about Carroll's sexual assault accusations. The sad truth is nothing changes with her accusations, and if anything it just makes Trump even more popular with certain members of the public. And many of those who are upset support a man who wrote about how women fantasize about being raped, so clearly they aren't that bothered. They just want to be pandered to so they can feel morally righteous. Well, tough [!@#$%^&*].

    • That's a name I haven't heard in a minute. Thanks!
    • Well, since I'm still up unexpected past my growing-into-it bedtime. lol.   I finally got to rewatch Monday's. I even rewatched Friday's to take it all in. Now that we got the reveal and hit the climax of the SilkPress Sheila storyline, now we get to watch the aftermath and/or turns that come with its climax. So far, so good. Friday left us with three cliffhangers. And what I found surprising was how I felt about them over a rewatch.    I know some of you all felt a way about the dialogue during Kat vs Eva. I remember liking it more the first time around and it was nice for them to have these scenes to establish more of a frenemy vibe for them going forward. That still held up. But I found myself agreeing with you all about that dialogue. lol. Still, it was nice to have both of their POVs.   Second up was Silk Press Sheila vs the Duprees. And I was happy to get a brief spat with Dani in there. But the rest standouts for me was Anita and Martin. Haters can hate and given the tail end of the episode, I will agree to a fault, but Brandon has impressed and he was on fire on Monday and had great subtle work on Friday. And that subtle work made it all the better. Like I believe I said when I was watching...BC has a much better grip on his character and seems to be realizing what his tics are so has started to be able to know when to turn it up and when to dial it down. And for the most part (emphasis on most), he got that. Meanwhile, TT was giving fierceness, and I was here for every minute of it. Her reading SilkPress. Her being quip about it. Her 'BE STILL.' Ooooo she had a chokehold on me as Anita gave what I was expecting her to SilkPress. WORTH THE WAIT. I also loved Vernon's CHOOSE SILENCE. I wonder though if SilkPress will figure out Martin's condition from her observing Anita and Vernon with him.   And speaking of worth it...Oooo YES Nicole vs Ted was worth totally worth it. Oooooo I knew DD would nail it, and it was all so well done. The fight between the part of Nicole who is a therapist vs Nicole as a woman who wants to express how she feels. And being so angry. And how there would be moments when it would shoot out of her. And how she would restrain herself. But how she felt she should not be restrain. Just the levels of processing and layers. And DD played it all so well. I do wish Maurice gave just a little bit more, but overall, I thought he did a good job even if it was just Ted coming across as a deadbeat and not at all redeemable. And Kat being there for her mother was so beautiful.   Minority, but I love the montage though yes, it did run a little long. Given how the Duprees like to bond (and also as I mentioned from my own very recent family experiences), it did not seem out of place to me.     That said...let's see how the aftermath worked in today's episode. Overall. Cuz RC can be hit or miss.
    • I wonder whose brilliant (

) idea it was to do an almost complete rip-off of the "who killed Tom King"-storyline. That's some quality style writing right there.....
    • The show is done. It got canceled at the end of January. https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2025/02/fox-first-run-cancels-dish-nation-person-place-or-thing-pictionary-759232
    • I believe it. ESPECIALLY that last one.
