^ He's never claimed to be a socialist (democratic socialists are still capitalists) so I won't fault him there personally.  I'll just fault him for being a jackass.  Who claims  to be for the people and then tells the masses to go write a best seller? It was really a disgusting thing to say for so many reasons. I don't on any level begrudge him his millions, but to act like everyone has the platform and ability to get rich that way was so utterly republican.  I just can't.

I've seen a lot of praise in the media for how brave he was to go on Faux News and how great he was, so I guess with Biden falling, this is the start of their push to go ahead and give him the nomination.

I will vote for him over Trump, but I just wish the whole thing was over already. The man and his supporters repulse me and I don't want to have to see any more of his endless vanity project. That's all this is.

I'm embarrassed to think how blind I was at the beginning of last primary season.  I guess I was thinking that if people could get economic justice that other good things might follow, but now I just cringe at what an ass he turned out to be. My only consolation is that I never hesitated to support Hillary once it was obvious she would be the nominee.

And yes,  I will be grateful when it's all over too.  I wish Biden would announce already.  It seems to me he has a good chance as long as there aren't any more serious skeletons in his closet.  I want to see how much money he can raise. Either way I'm with Kamala Harris when it comes to her sentiments about beating Trump. We have to get rid of him. Anyone who puts their ambitions above that goal is persona non grata to me.

Agreed. Team Kamala. I don't think Biden's "scandal" will continue as the months progress, cuz all one has to do is compare it to the sexual assault claims against Trumpilstiltsken and the infamous Access Hollywood tape, and then ask, "which one is pervier?"

Re: Bernie.  Anything that chips away at his base is fine by me. There's quite a list growing of Democratic possibilities that I'd choose any day over him.

Yeah, I really despise these people who actively helped elected Trump by voting for JS or writing in Bernie's name.  Things have to get worse before they get better? Worse for who? Probably not for them.

These are almost certainly all people who can go about their daily lives and not worry that someone is going to assault them in the Target parking lot or start screaming at them about going back to where they came from (which is usually right here, but never mind that). They aren't having their kid's ripped away at the border and they are ok with that happening to others because that's how we bring on the revolution.

This thread doesn't change who I support, but I find it very disappointing.  If you click on it the numbers for most of the candidates are there, not just Beto. What a stingy group.  As for Beto, I give more and make less. That does not endear him to me.

Not going to defend the stingy because obviously there are no Jehovah's Witnesses in this group but I personally have never claimed charitable donations on tax forms and I know some people consider it somewhat distasteful to make every charitable donation a "write-off".

Are all these folks, keeping their wallets/purses tight or is there some other reason, like investing in organizations that do work that helps individuals?  I would genuinely like for someone to ask each candidate why their charitable donations look the way they do.

Of course, when the Obamas taxes showed how generous they had been in their charitable donations, they got criticized by some people who claimed it was for show and that charity's effects were limited compared to investing in entrepreneurial and training programs that benefit women, minorities and the poor, for example.  America, in general, was quite harsh on the Obamas in certain regards. Some still are.

There's an understatement.  You always seem to keep your cool DD, which I admire.  The Obama's were treated horribly.  The way people talked about Michelle was disgusting and shameful.

I sort of reminds me of how Megan Markel is treated. I have no love for the royal family in general, don't get me wrong, but it's obvious that she is getting a raw deal in the press because she is bi racial.  It took me awhile to realize that people were praising KM as graceful, ladylike and all this other BS as a way of contrasting her to MM. Same thing they do with Melania in regard to Michelle Obama.  It's so unfair and untrue.

It's probably because at this age, I realized that there were times when I was bullied, called indescribable names for no justifiable reason or harassed six ways to Sunday and discovered that not openly reacting was the best response (albeit the most difficult) especially when open displays of anger would be giving people what they want and expect, which is their stereotype of an angry black woman.  My guess is that both Megan Markel and Michelle Obama have come to realize this fact as well in their lifetimes.

People are all over Michelle Obama's areola for comparing Trump to a divorced dad (which is about the mildest thing one could ever call that troll) and the British press are deliberately trying to hurt Harry by going after Megan (this time for the couple having the gall not to submit to that ridiculous post delivery photo-op outside of the hospital

).  The British press seems even more incensed that the Megan and Harry won't respond to their tantrums.

There gets to be a certain point where you know that displaying outrage won't change anything, in fact, it gives detractors a smug sense of satisfaction, so better to channel the anger in other ways and so much the better if it comes off as insouciance.

I used to have a wicked temper when I was younger but over the years, I think meditation has also helped.  Thanks for the compliment though @Juliajms.

    • It seems obvious based on the initial material that Korte was going to take another foolish run at Jason and Carly a la 2021 and hoped Mulcahey being back would make it work, as he wrote such famous material for Steve, Sarah, etc. I think a couple good dialogue scenes came out of them together very early on, but there was never any denying that Steve and Laura have never had and will never have any romantic chemistry, plus the audience doesn't want it. So they pivoted to her with that useless dayplayer (Brennan) and now here they all are, spinning their wheels doing nothing of value on the show. I do think PM had planned to do much more with Jason's sons and that rivalry/friction, but once he was gone so was Jake. I've rarely seen any of the core mob 3 feel so totally extraneous and directionless on the canvas. Not that I mind. Anything that makes Jason easier to get rid of works for me.
    • I just edited the 1998 SOD Awards & Laura Wright won Best New Character for Cassie on GL. Also Philip & Harley won something of some name for them as a couple & when they finished saying their effusive thanks at the mic, Grant picked Beth up & literally threw her over his shoulder & walked backstage that way. I mean, it's great that Beth Ehlers is a good sport, right?

    • nothing. The story was put on the backburner while they focused on other stuff. I think thats one of the issues i have with the show in that it sometimes struggles with balance as stories will disappear for weeks and then reappear (Chelsea's throuple for example)
    • I HATED Infinity (I could care less about Kyle Sampson and his hanger ons and the dumb Lujack video, and Mindy and Kurt were strong armed into being a fave couple and married off way too soon (Jeva didnt get that big of a wedding.) I did like the Fishing Mystery (despite the changing of history..it was murky enough that it could be fudged) and the Cabin mystery started out good ..I thought Tony was hot and I liked Annabelle, it had supernatural elements but they did not overtake the story (i.e. Reva traveling through time..) and I love a gothic mystery.. however, it was bizarre that nosy Nola wasnt in the mix...she barely seemed interested that her sister in law was psychic, there may be ghosts in her brothers house, etc.  I don't know if there was a behind the scenes issue with Brown and Kobe, or if Long just wanst interested or felt tied up writing for Quola.  I would have had Quint blow up in the cabin instead of Hillary but..The big problem that the end result was...boring. Okay so there are black Spauldings..and they disappeared...so what now? Not only was J gross...(I can't believe the actor IS actually just as obnoxious as J) they made Chelle into an airhead horn dog going after her cousin. Yes, by adoption but still her cousin. I wondered why she was not calling Nola "Aunt" when she first arrived, and they barely acknowledge each other ( I would think Nola would glomb on to mothering her sister's daughter, especially with Stacy not in town, much to Ed's chagrin) but it was in service to...this??? Wait until Chele gets all horny for an angel...oyyyy! No one else in town reacted to Nadine's death,, cause Deas had to have his big dumb over the top reaction scene to Deenie's death. I can't imaging watching that scnene and thinking he was a good actor!

I know, I'm getting the sense they expected Beaty to stay if they were going the rehabilitation route with Abby. A few weeks ago, when Michelle was dressing sexy for her date with J, she let Abby try on a dress and Rick then taught her what dating was like, and she went in and kissed him. They were clearly setting up the Abby/Rick story, but then suddenly it has pivoted to Rick falling back in love with Annie and trying to convince her not to go to Josh since he and Reva are secretly meeting at the cabin (Annie is getting unhinged here). But with Rick focused on Annie again, it would have left room for Abby to work with Brent, had Beaty stayed (at least this is what I'm assuming based on what I'm seeing). Rick is also now in Blake's orbit - they both just got in a bar fight post-Ross/Amanda kissing and Annie rejecting Rick's advances. They're together and Blake is now coming onto Rick while they drink... uh oh.
    • She is truly in such a delusional state that it's hard to know what's true but I'm sure there are some easter eggs in there. I am very curious to see how they utilize Leslie now that everybody knows who she is. If they do go with a connection to Anita in someway that would definitely be interesting. Anita was the first and only person so far that Leslie seemed intimidated by.
    • I do get your point about the Q's stuff with Lois back in the day.  I will say there were a lot more Quartermaines and a lot more stupid, corrupted plotting in the 90's.  I think the show went out of their way to make Lois seem almost naive, unprepared for such an insane family The whole idea that Lois had to move far away from Ned and PC to raise Brook Lynn was a bit flimsy for me as well.  I mean, no judgement, but BLQ still got knocked up as a teenager lol.  I appreciated Lois was also hard on Sonny back then.  Lois could clearly see his flaws even if she loved him. Yeah, Sonny, Carly and Jason don't really deserve human connections with anyone but themselves lol.  I always have wondered if the show did want to re-pair Jason/Sam and whatever happened with Kelly happened.
