I’m like, ‘This is the first time you’re hearing him say something. You want me to stop him from saying something?’ I want to hear him say something. But he didn't say anything, fool! That's the problem! You didn't ask anything important, and he didn't say anything important! My Lord. At least Ellen Degeneres would've had him get up and play some dumb-ass game with the audience. 7 minutes ago, Juliajms said: What happened with Van Jones? I've always liked him, tbh. Basically, he had an opportunity to ask that traitorous s.o.b. Jared Kushner some hard questions about the Trump administration, but instead, he made it the most toothless convo this side of "Iyanla Fix My Life." No, I take that back, because even Iyanla would've been like, "Real talk, boo, fish stinks from the head down!" All VJ did, IMO, was help normalize another of these nasty mutherfuckers who are hurting this country. Edited October 23, 20187 yr by Khan

I'm sad to hear that VJ screwed up his chance to hold JK's feet to the fire.

In other happy, happy, happy news: And it looks like Republicans have the edge so far in early voting, which sadly doesn't surprise me. You can feel the glee in this NBC writeup. "Purple wave" indeed. Andy Lack must be grinning ear-to-ear and extending Megyn Kelly's contract right now. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/republicans-outpacing-democrats-early-voting-key-states-nbc-news-finds-n922881 Seeing that Trump's approval ratings have climbed even as he is trying his hardest to get us into nuclear war and even as he and the GOP openly say they are coming after Medicare and Social Security and even as tariffs make the economy falter more and more just makes me feel like if there was a tipping point we've already passed it. The bar is SO low for this man because the hate he spreads is so alluring to so many. I guess all we can do is vote and hope for the best.
October 23, 20187 yr Member All he needs to do is put the "white" before it and he'd be 100% accurate (for once). JUST IN: Trump declares himself a nationalist: "We’re not supposed to use that word" https://t.co/cf0QX2zI4s pic.twitter.com/N4FktN87X9 — The Hill (@thehill) October 23, 2018 5 hours ago, Khan said: He (and Kanye) make me feel ashamed to be an African-American male. Also, why, in God's name, is SON futzing around with the board's formats AGAIN?? The only feature(s) I really want are a proper quote feature (where I can insert a quote from a previous thread/section) and something where I can make the messageboard dark (like they do in Gmail).
October 23, 20187 yr Member We created a real hotline for a real problem: 1-844-WYT-FEAR (1-844-998-3327). In this satirical infomercial, @NiecyNash plays the inventor of a service for white people to call instead of 911. https://t.co/ViZQOHcLSV pic.twitter.com/mVmLnGTlVl — NYT Opinion (@nytopinion) October 22, 2018
October 23, 20187 yr Member Also, any discussion of 'voter enthusiasm' in early voting that does not include the effect of gerrymandering or voter suppression cannot truly be taken seriously. JMO.
October 23, 20187 yr Member The medias doing the jobs of the GOP time and time again. Ignore the reports and vote. And interested they have these stats yet 3 of those states have no party affiliation designation Oh well just vote vote vote.

October 23, 20187 yr Member My understanding of the 'purple wave' reports (especially the NBC one) is that they are skewed to traditionally Republican-leaning areas and/or older voters - not an accurate reflection of the full picture, which still leans heavily blue. It's just another way for media to pump up the beloved 'horse race' narrative while eliding the facts. But we shouldn't get complacent. Edited October 23, 20187 yr by Vee
October 23, 20187 yr Member The company that provided the data to NBC is pretty much calling shenanigans on that bogus report. Edited October 23, 20187 yr by marceline

He also became infamous for tearing up and crying on-air after Trump's first State of the Union(?) last year and saying "this is the moment Trump became president!" That's what lost me completely. It's sad because he used to do good work.

October 23, 20187 yr Member A thread to add to marceline's stuff: I am late to this today (I do have a day job). This is the sort of crummy analysis I warn about. There is an ebb and flow to #earlyvote. As such, it is best to compare voting *at the same point in time* to a prior election, not do a simple correlation https://t.co/sojuRHgF23 — Michael McDonald (@ElectProject) October 22, 2018
October 23, 20187 yr Member Also, from the man who put Maggie Haberman once again on the prickly defensive this morning: This @mattyglesias piece is spot on, particularly as it relates to the way Republicans get away with lying about their policy positions https://t.co/qgMcaxelJD— Spooky Zack Boo-champ (@zackbeauchamp) October 23, 2018 And now, you guessed it - Megyn Kelly: Dear @megynkelly — you and I are approximately the same age. Blackface was NOT okay when we were kids. Take it from a big-hearted boy who just wanted to show his love for Nipsey Russell on the worst Halloween of my life. https://t.co/pnsk0WmuTw— Patton Oswalt (@pattonoswalt) October 23, 2018
October 23, 20187 yr Member There is something extremely distasteful in watching Haberman hang on Trump's words as if his raw abuse of power is a sign of his political skill and acumen. It's a mindless respect for power, prestige, and place that is divorced from its circumstances. https://t.co/f2DdWUzdEm— Susan of Hell (@SusanofTexas) October 21, 2018
