The main struggle with Pat is she would have been a complex female figure to write for, and this era of Knots didn't really do that, aside from Paige (and I think some of Paige's complexity is down to Nicolette Sheridan being such a unique presence). Frank was a warm, sympathetic support figure on an increasingly cold show with increasingly played out leads, so I can see his purpose.

In another era of the show, or a world where a black woman was ever going to get much of a shot in TV at this point, Pat could have been a strong replacement for Laura, I agree.

Latham was not known for writing actual characters... only character achetypes.

And Pat was complex like Laura was..and played by a likable actress so Latham and Co were lost how to write for her.

And yes... Ms. Sheridan had such a unique presence that she made 1 D characters like Paige and Edie (from DH) so rich and likable/

One bright spot to the whole Lynne Moody departure debacle is that after being killed off she ended up winning the Soap Opera Digest Award for Supporting Actress in a Prime Time Soap and I remember her acceptance speech, she was very happy to win because she said she didn't think she would.  I was really happy that she did too.

I hope I can find this one day on YouTube.

I'm sure Douglas told them no on a return. Wasn't he unhappy about his character's storyline?

I don't understand why Diana was let go. She was great on the show!

The writers had no clue how or what to write for Michael and Eric.

Thank you!!!! She's one of my favorite . I have always loved her. So real, so relatable.

I noticed Lynne thanked the writers, but did not mention the cast in her speech. I wonder how she got along with them, especially Larry Riley ?

What was everyone's favorite houses/sets on the show ? I liked Gary & Val's home, but as I have said before the stairs needed to be pushed back about several feet and the step down to the living room and kitchen should have been eliminated like they did in the reunion. The early seasons it looked better with Miss Ellie's antique furniture since the house had a colonial architectural style to it with the columned porch and the arched windows in the double entry doors. Their house looked its best during the 1997 reunion movie.

I also liked the Avery/Williams house and Gary's ranch.

I mean, they obviously used the same sets for Karen and Abby's house and the Ewing and Avery house in the first seasons at least.

I loved the layout of Karen’s house but I think the Avery’s had a pool so I’d probably take that. The worst hoise was easily Kenny and Ginger’s.

Overall though, I’d love to live at Sumner Ranch.
