Something I've noticed over the years is that there's just not enough nice, likeable characters to root for anymore, nor enough comedy or lighthearted moments. For someone like me, who grew up with Eastenders (I’m older than the show, but too young to fully recall the first couple of years) it was almost tone perfect, complete with an unannounced cameo that made it complete.
