B) I have a question bout Y&R's ratings

Y&R

Monday: 3.4/4,612,000

Tuesday: 3.7/4,897,000

Wednesday: 3.7/4,981,000

Thursday: 3.4/4,759,000

Friday: 3.4/5,059,000

Y does Friday have a 3.4, but more total viewers than Tuesday which has a 3.7, but the 2nd highest in total viewers? Thanks in advance for the answer :)

Let me explain..or try to. There are just more viewers watching. On my Nielsen diary book it asks to put what shows you watch. Then next to it you have to fill out how many people were watching that show on that set(meaning TV). So say I watched Y&R in my living room on Tuesday...but on Friday my Mom, Dad, Uncle, neighbor join me...it adds up to more viewers...I would include them.

Thank you...I knew there was a reason Friday was at 1.4. I was about ready to canvas some message boards to find out what affiliates aired Days last Friday. Don't the networks make allowances for things like that? Well, the French Open just cost Days -.1. There were two 2.0's and two 1.9's the other days. They're sitting with a 1.8 now.

I swear to you, Ken Corday will continue to get covers on "The Plan to Save Days!" even after NBC finally gives him a cancellation notice. The man is unbelievable. Heart in the right place, perhaps, but so consistently knee-jerk impulsive and wrongheaded in his every approach to a problem.

As for OLTL, I am pleased by the ratings and have to again stick up for its dialogue. I think it's now some of the best on daytime, rivaling the dialogue people at GH, Y&R and others. For years, OLTL had very stilted dialogue under Higley, Tomlin/Whitesell/Broderick and yes, at times, Malone, but now it's getting a naturalism and realism back, as well as some poetry to it. I'm going to be the bitch and say that the scenes everyone unfairly compares BW's last week to - the Days scenes last winter with Marlena and Belle after John's death - were waaayyyy overrated due to the high emotions of fans at the time. When I finally saw them I was extremely underwhelmed, and I think part of it was DH's performance and the overall distracted nature of the show, being pulled in many directions by both the writers and Corday. Despite Sheffer's team's good intentions, I have found RC's OLTL and its daily dialogue much more natural and well-written than the Sheffer regime at DOOL. Sheffer's people were very capable of doing great dialogue, don't get me wrong. The problem is, they often had to shoehorn in new stories or crazy last-minute ideas or mid-stream plot changes constantly.

Also, I felt Bree was amazing last week. I've often found her to be a limited actress but she really surprised me and did amazing work.

Oh, and one more thing: I feel bad for Y&R. I think very highly of Josh Griffith despite his last stint at OLTL, but to me he never seemed to be a right fit for that show at all. His work is less formal and austere than Y&R tends to be, more visceral, more rock and roll, skewing younger. He's not the right man for that kind of show and I don't think Sheffer is either.

People tune out a show for a number of reasons. I, personally, can't say what happened, but it's kinda funny how after that story was settled.....the ratings started tanking.

I think it's a multitude of things why DOOL is once again falling in the ratings, but I can't say now nor in the future what makes a fan tune out. :)
