I'm with you, Toups. People may say "well, look at Luke and Laura" and I scream "it's a different era!!" What EJ did was disgusting, pure and simple. But they're so damned determined to call this a seduction.

A couple weeks ago when Marlena urged Sami to forgive EJ, the first thing I thought was "FORGIVE YOUR RAPIST? Jesus!!"

I'm not stunned about this anymore as many fans on the net wanted them together without considering the fact that EJ raped Sami. Also, Ed Scott mentioned, I think, in an article a while back that he was surprised how "vocal" the EJami fans were.

Too bad they couldn't tackle the rape issue as it would have giving Alison and James good material to work with for possible Emmy wins.

What do y’all think? It look like people must of hated Hogan's work.

That's a damn shame......

And just one more huge reason why I won't turn this show back on until she is gone.

This is just...........damn.

And, Hogan and his team would have turned that rape into Emmy winning material with both actors. Even they say it' was rape........but I now guess that entire episode has been officially swept under the rug.

Yup. It's like, "Hey it never happened, let's not mention it again, let's move on. We're not going to redeem EJ or make him pay for his crimes. Instead Sami will SEDUCE her RAPIST and it will be the greatest love story of all! We're not even going to bother and tell a proper story. EJ's not going to repent, he's not going to work hard to gain the love and trust of the woman he raped. We don't have time to tell a long term story, so we're just going to skip all that. It's too hard for a lazy writer like me."

Ed Scott's reaction: "What the fuck did I get into? I have to produce this piece of crap??!!"

I have ALWAYS said the EJ/Sami love story can be successful, as long as EJ has a TOTAL meltdown over "what-he-thinks-was-just-a-'deal'" and has to EARN Sami's respect.

It can ABSOLUTELY be done (and you're right, Roman - Emmy-worthy if it's done right), but you need the right writers to write that scene. (SCENE?! Screw that - weeks of EPISODES!)

I want to have faith - I really do. But I don't right now...

Yeah, I know.

I want EJ to have a total meltdown and pour his heart out to - I don't know - someone it DOESN'T look manipulative to - like Billie. Or Marlena. Or Kate. (Imagine the Kate/Sami scenes, where Kate genuinely and begrudgingly has to admit that EJ actually LOVES her?!) Someone it comes out of the clear blue sky.

I want him to PUBLICLY renounce his heritage.

I want Austin to return for three episodes and remind Sami that SHE forced HIM to have sex. And maybe EJ found a rationale that night in December the same way Sami found a rationale that night so many years ago.

I want EJ to work for this.

And then I want to sit back and watch in AWE as this couple FINALLY finds love amidst the the war between their fathers.

Alas, this is never going to happen.

Ugh. I need to go back to fanfic. LOL!

Actually, in the SOD article, it says EJ and Sami have a long talk about that night. They address that night so it's not a re-write. The actors know what it was. Everyone does. Yes, they have tried to ignore but that goes back to Hogan's era. I applaud them for finally addressing it. Hopefully, they do it right like it says in the article. JS and AS hinted that things would be addressed to finally begin to address what happened and I'm glad. Not a EJ/Sami fan but I am happy it's being mentioned and addressed.

Let's also remember too Hogan wanted to go in this direction as well so blaming Higley exclusively for this is wrong. Corday probably did too but that is one thing they both could agree on. It was pretty obvious they wanted EJ/Sami.

The headline is also a little deceiving. She flirts with him more or less because of Nicole so it's not a seduction but that's SOW for ya .

    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
    • I think we all will, isn't that how soaps work? lol
    • ^^ I'll believe it when it actually happens.
