Let's enter in a rich world of schemers! Dynasty!
The center character, Blake Carrington is the owner of a big Oil empire,
Denver Carrington. His worst enemy is his cruel ex-wife, Alexis Carrington,
who owns Colby Co Oil Empire. During their Union, they got 4 children, Adam
who has been kidnapped at birth, Fallon who had an amnesia and then saw UFO,
Steven, who had facial plastic surgery and then took it over,
and Amanda who has been forgotten when she left to Europe.
Later, Blake married Krystle Jennings twice.

YES!!! These are some of my favorite catfights! I like this one where Alexis calls Krystle a crazy cow! LMAO!

Dynasty : Alexis and Krystle ultimate catfight

Here's another one where they go at it at Alexis' studio because Krystle Carrington knows exactly what Alexis did to her when she lost her baby:

I just saw eppy 1 of Season 3 on DVD. The eppy was a bit slow and dealt with Jeff and Fallon's baby being kidnapped plue Adam appearing. Gordon Thomson sure looked hot back then. :)

I found Sable to be a more convincing character. Alexis was larger than life, over the top, a cartoon character. She claimed to love her children, yet she used them at every opportunity and could easily dismiss them -- which she did to all of them at one time or another. Sable, on the other hand, could be devious, but she had the same motivation as JR Ewing -- her children. JR was always interested in passing the Ewing family heritage to Jon Ross, and Sable was always protecting her children from outside forces. Even her battle with Alexis in the last season was fueled because Alexis exposed Miles and Monica as illegitimate. She was cool, smooth, and calculating. Stephanie Beacham beautiful, icy, and seductive. And she could act.

And Soapsuds, this is for you, my buddy:

Actually my fantasy involved Steven #1 and Adam #1,

Its a great show. I thought it started to lose a bit of its appeal I think around season 3 or 4, but I enjoyed 5 and I thought it was pretty good until season 8 which was a disaster. Luckily it did improve in season 9

Early Sammy Jo was the best!

I think it's the whole idea of the women fighting in the water which gets notice. The studio fight was very, very good. Made even better because of the horrible remark Alexis made to her right before the fight, the one about the "fallen madonna," I can't remember the rest. Joan Collins was so charismatic you almost forgot what a nasty person Alexis could be. It's too bad Krystal became so dull and narcotized. I did like that at the end of that, she punched Alexis. Even today there's often this idea that women only slap each other.

    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
    • I think we all will, isn't that how soaps work? lol
    • ^^ I'll believe it when it actually happens.
