I really don't see how AMC and GH are impacting OLTL that much. OLTL is GH's lead-in in most markets, yet GH always has higher ratings than OLTL. Also, OLTL has traditionally been the lowest rated core ABC soap. Even when AMC and GH were top 3 during the early 90's, OLTL would sometimes rank as low as #6. The horrible state of ABC Daytime might have a bearing on OLTL's ratings, but I don't think its the sole factor. If anything, things should've balanced out by now.

IA!

Iger, needs to haul Ms. Sweeney into the office and ask her "what the [!@#$%^&*] she's doing?'

Could Sweeney, be the berry juice pusher?

It should be interesting this year with who's contracts are up. I wish the whole cast would just walk............

**Glad, to see the rest of the soaps up :D **

Y&R and B&B: quality, intelligence and full use of the cast works. The numbers are up, about damn time, the shows have been very good and consistently so. Thank you Bell family for showing the rest of daytime how it's done.

DAYS: This is tough, this show has juice in it, the numbers prove that it can improve, the problem how much the numbers can improve remains a mystery. I hope DAYS gets renewed, for better or for worse DAYS holds a special spot in my heart.

ATWT and GL: The budgets are down and the ratings are up. No surprise they were renewed. GL is above AMC and OLTL and nipping GH. Shocking is the word for it.

GH, AMC, OLTL: It's sad that these shows are such [!@#$%^&*]. That's what they are, make no mistake, creatively they are [!@#$%^&*]. Frons has failed, Anne Sweeney puzzles me and Bob Iger is a tremendous guy (although I don't know if he's as good for ABC Daytime as Eisner was, Eisner was ABC Daytime's biggest defender, most of those who 'matter' at ABC Daytime like Lucci and Slezak and Strasser LOVED him). It's not the writers or even the producers. It's that son of a bitch Brian Frons. His insulting attempt to 'train' the audience has failed, it does not work. If the axe isn't swung on Frons I'm afraid it will be on one of the soaps.

I hope that you are right. Something has to be done. AMC in the last place WTF? I am shocked. Sponsors are going to bounce left and right if AMC's ratings continues to decline.

I enjoyed Angie and Jesse storyline and they are the reason why I tuned back in. True their storyline isnt special but DM and DW's sparkling presence blows almost a cast away.

AMC is need of a major overhaul in their approach to storytelling. TPTB need to go onto youtube and view some of eppies currently on there from the late 70s thru the mid 80s. The writing was truly superlative, and was Agnes's formula perfected to a tee: multigenerational characters interacting in believable ways, unique and well-drawn characters with understandable motives, shmaltzy family scenes in the Martin kitchen, drawing room comedy/satire with the wonderful Langley and Phoebe, intelligently done social issue stories, stories originating organically from character's relationships, and tortured young love, all done against a wonderfully atmospheric small town vibe portrayed by quirky actors. It was just a great mix of diverse character and story types, and was a hell of an entertaining and intelligent show. And you know what...No crazy, bizarre plots done for plot's sake. No talentless underwear models learning to act on our time. No pole dancing. No back from the dead stories. No "let's throw whatever we have against the wall and see what sticks" approach to storytelling. Sure, there were some clunkers back then, but TPTB would quickly realize that, cut their losses and move on to something better. Contrast that with today...how long have coma-inducing Kendall/Ryan/Zach/Greenlee/Aidan been front burner in one boring, who-cares plot after another that have caused a significant ratings bleed. Anyway, I've found myself watching some of the eppies over and over, partly for nostalgic value and partly because the material was THAT GOOD! I know it's no longer 1983, and things have changed...but not so drastically, especially when it comes to Agnes's formula, WHICH IS TIMELESS. All Frons/Carruthers/Babs & Jim need to do is develop stories based on Agnes's storytelling and scene writing template. (And any budget cuts shouldn't impact that type of storytelling.) Is it really that hard? It seems like a no-brainer. My guess is that Kay Alden's bible hearkened back to the classic AMC formula, and for some twisted reason, Frons wanted no part of it. And they wonder why ratings and critical acclaim are at an all time low. AMC is my first love, and I know it's only a soap, but it truly saddens me to see what it's become.

From what I read Kay Alden wanted to get rid of alot of the characters that were hated on AMC, and my guess is those were Fronsie's "pets" aka Babe/Ryan/KWAK and probably a few others. She probably did want to go back to classic AMC

I know AMC made some serious coin from the Charm! book(which was a best seller), and I think that's what's paying for RPG & Cady's returns, but even that won't last long..

Yep I'm shocked sponers havent already pulled alot of their advertising dollars

Actually, AMC started the trend months ago. It was hitting 1.9 before 2008, IIRC, and it started taking OLTL down with it. Then OLTL hit 1.9, and now AMC is back to its old position. riding forward with the 1.9. So, I'm sorry if the braindead "Robert Gardner is Codename: Pimple (or whatever the hell that name is)" story hasn't made it happen, or if Greenlee's psychotic narcissism and Zach and Kendall's gigantic hair can't fill the void, but it's pretty apparent if you go back and look which show the onus first fell upon.

On OLTL I get a wide canvas of many people. On AMC I get six grown-ass people making fools of themselves day in, day out drinking and clubbing while their kids wait for someone, anyone to come home. Oh, and from time to time poor Angie and Jesse.
