I agree HoganStays.

I think Days writing is ok, but they are not focusing on the right characters. Everyday its the same characters. They are ok in moderation but not on every episode. I wish they would focus on John/Marlena/Hope/Bo/Kate instead of Willow/Jed/Philip/Belle/Shawn/Chelesa/Nick. Hopefully they will wakeup!

NBC is sure thinking they made the right decision to get out of the soap business by canceling Passions and probably canceling Days in 2009. I'm enjoying Days right now but if it goes in 2009, I won't care that much because I will just move on to watching something else whether it's a soap or something other than a soap.

No soap is ever going to touch YR which I do watch so I'm happy about them always being first.

i agree that 2.3 for days is quite alarmimg. Hogans stories are good but like everyone said its too many new faces. Philip always hollerin, Lucas/sami/ej going in circles. Nick and chelsea now abby and that boy jed. The show is featuring stars that have been on 2 years or less. even for me steve and kayla r new kuz ididnt know see them in the 80's

we got

shawn( kuz he a new face too)

ugly Williow

Jed

Abby

Max

Philip

Nick

Chelsea

ej

steve

kayla

its like a whole new show to me

the only real vets we see is sami ad lucas, and sometimes kate

I have to agree. LML is doing a great job and all the side stepping she was doing has really paid off in FEB and spoilers are looking good. Y&R is the only show to feature their vets and have a nive balance which one story never really leads. the writing is smooth and transcending

I will just agree with you Ponz. The show as far as quality is good but the pace is still slow. This week has been better but it won't do anything for ratings. The next few weeks might though. It's sad because Days had so much momentum and it hit a brick wall. There are issues facing the show that hold it back no question but alot of this falls on Corday and Hogan. There should never be this long of a period of hardly anything happening. Never. The balance could be tolerated if things were actually happening and if things were moving enough to hold interest. Just now we are seeing movement and it should not have taken this long. If Days is waiting for May and the summer to kick things up, that is stupid. They always do that too it seems. The show always tends to go into somewhat of a lull towards the end of January and doesn't really get to a high level until May/June. I know Days does well in summer because of school out and all but you have yu have to keep people hooked all year. I am enjoying the show but I can see why others aren't because in the past two weeks there have been two episodes (last Wednesday and yesterday0 where even I have been bored. That is saying something.

I like what is coming up and hopefully Days can at least get back to 2.5 by the end of this month and get those ugly demos up.

Now, the others shows didn't fare better. GH is slowly coming back to normal, Y&R and B&B are where they always are, and the other shows are middle of the pack and losing viewers yet again. Soaps are in trouble. GH breaks 3.0 and if even they can't sustain it it makes me doubt anyone but B&B and Y&R can ever stay above a 3.0. All this is sad and depressing but Days is the worst. They better work out what they have to and get things going fast because their future lies on the rest of this year IMO. They need to get in the high 2.0's and stay there by the end of the summer in my view. They need to build slowly number-wise, get the demos up, and maintain it all. I agree with Mitch and can see why he thinks it's outstanding because I do too to an extend but what is on right now is not going to grab fans and keep them. Action needs to be taken and I know it will be because stuff like this always gets Corday's attention.

I totally agree with this. Some people (Internet people) will automatically give someone leeway because of who's writing it. But to those who don't pay attention to who's writing and just know what's good and what's bad, they eventually tune out. And it looks like DAYS fans are doing just that. DAYS is just b-o-r-i-n-g and you're right that if someone like James Harmon Brown & Barbara Esensten of GL's Santos/San Cristobel era were currently writing DAYS, people would be pissed off at all the new characters taking front and center at the expense of the veterans.

Okay, GL, time to step it up a notch and overtake DAYS!

Days is imploding. There can be no excuses made for the terrible inconsistencies. Look. Bo and Hope's baby was born the last of December, but we have scarcely seen Hope, had only a couple of scenes with the baby and as far as we all know, she has never been properly named. Bo disowned his daughter and so we have Billie with him as though nothing happened, no mention or dealing with that at all. No explanation about Mrs. H or even mention of her. Bo behaving as though his fragile brain is purely dysfunctional when Hogan claimed to bring the men back to Salem, I'm aghast. We haven't seen Caroline and Shawn Sr. for weeks or the Pub. Familiarity is a thing of the past unless you count the rerun of the wtd story with Sami and her reverting to her delusions. Then there are Steve and Kayla, once a beloved couple who are struggling to gain the love of a new audience with a less than lovable story, dropping an interesting story with a total lack of acceptance like the solving of the skeleton mystery to salvage Bonnie at the expense of Mimi, I mean Judy played Bonnie for three years and Farah played Mimi for almost eight. I am livid over that. Trying to put a playboy with a young inexperience girl, and on and on. There is only one sweet story and that's about to get ugly. Oh, and not to forget the story about the couple on the run with a child who has a liver transplant, who do not have the integrity or courage to fight in the legal system of our country to keep their family together, but with the encouragement of their parents (John being in a coma doesn't count) buck the law, endanger the life of their child and weasel their way into the unknown. It's pathetic. I'm only watching anymore out of habit and due to the hour it's on. If it were any other time of day, no way would I waste my time.

No one would have been able to even had me believe that GL had a chance of beating Days 6 months ago. Now there have been several days since then they have beaten them or tied with them. And now are within .1 of thier rating.

GL has fought some big odds in the last 6 months. They have tied or beaten Days, OLTL, AMC & ATWT in the dailies - something it was not able to do in a long time. I hope CBS looks at this when they are deciding GL's fate. I hope they will see what Ellen Wheeler has been able to do, and I hope that more affiliates will pick the show back up or move it back to a normal schedule. I would love to see what it could do then - but I know that is dreaming and will never happen.

I am in love with GL right now. It and Y&R are the only 2 soaps that are must see every day for me now. I hope it does well and moves out of #8. At this point I don't care who it beats. A few months ago we thought it would be AMC or OLTL but right now Days or ATWT are the most likely as both are floundering right now. ATWT is getting better but until it does something again about the balance it's ratings are going to keep falling too. I thought ATWT had learned it's lesson but now they are just shifting from one set of characters on everyday to a new set of characters on everyday.

When will TPTB realize that NO ONE WANTS TO WATCH THE SAME CHARACTERS EVERY DAY.

BTW as Kwing asked - does anyone know why GL didn't get any Thursday numbers? It was on here.

While Nick and Chelsea are one of the good things about the show, you're right that the constant focus on them is not bringing in viewers. Sadly, the writers' insistence on extending the on-the-run fiasco, Sami keeping yet another secret from everyone before a wedding, Steve's mind problems with no end in sight, and giving more airtime to Willow, character who is loved by maybe ten people, is hurting DAYS.

We know the show can be great. It was on a roll from last summer until this January. Waiting until April and May to give us the good stuff isn't the answer.
