ATWT: SOW Hit or Miss

ATWT's Gwen is making beautiful music this winter, but bringing in Adam to be the spoiler between her and Will so soon after Jade's Summer machinations makes for the same old song and dance. Will and Gwen were one of Oakdales most tortured couples even before they graduated High School. With a track listing that includes a dead baby, dead sister, dead father, alcoholic mother and a murder rap, they could easily win a Country Music Award__ so why add on manufactured, prefab conflict in the form of both Jade and Will's newly returned big bro?

Believing that a smug, swaggering record producer could charm Gwen is no easier than buying Will putting the "ho" in "homeless" with schemer Jade. After Gwen and Will faced the Slasher and emerged stronger than ever, slick NuAdam (Who changed faces faster than Will's other brother Paul changes hairstyles) doesn't even make the cut. For his part, Broadway actor Matt Cavenaugh certainly has the pipes, but like any new character, Adam needs to sing backup before he sings lead.

Worst of all, instead of getting the band back together, Adam's arrival seems to have separated Will and Gwen from pals Casey and Maddie-- and the new lineup of Jade, Adam, Gwen, and Will is anything but four-part harmony.

This is one discordant ditty that definitely needs a new arrangement.

Another one of Jean's contrived storylines!!

Damn...did they try to fit in as many cheesy references to music in there as possible?!

I'm surprised the article wasn't credited as "ATWT: Hit or Miss, by ______ feat. _______."

It doesn't help the story much that this NuNuAdam is a horrible actor. I really have no idea what they were thinking. Were they once again solely going on looks rarther than acting abilities? Seems like it's quite the norm for ATWT to skip over the importance of acting and focus solely on the "hunk" factor.

What a great way to ruin the character of Adam.

Ugh...Will and Gwen lost steam with their curtain lace, exempted by the dude judge wedding. They need to stop making every burp and fart for these two into a lead story.

I think he is totally miscasted as Adam. I liked previous Adam much better. His acting is not bad he is just not Adam.

So true. The casting on ATWT has been uneven for a long time, imo. For awhile it seemed like they would cast very beautiful untalented model types every summer in the teen set. Those kids would be on a couple of years and then fade away. But then once in awhile they cast some really good actors like Jen Landon (can't stand Gwen's story, but she can act) and the girl who plays Maddie.

NuAdam kind of falls into the untalented, cute side of things.

Cavenaugh is a great actor I think, he just plays Adam in a completely different way from Matthew Morrison and Craig Lawlor.

I've seen Matt Cavenaugh as a character on OL for a short stint and he was fantastic but I can't get into his Adam he's so stale. I too perfer the last Adam.

I'm really sick of all the recasting. Almost half the cast is filled w/ re-casts of popular characters. What bugs me the most, though, is that every time they recast, the character changes so much! It's just as if it's a new character altogether.

Will and Gwen are just really boring, and they always have been from the beginning. I liked them better when they were just friends. Once they got together, Gwen became so watered-down. Now, it's like the character can do no wrong in the writers' eyes. She kisses her husband's brother, and it's not even seen as wrong b/c they justify it w/ the fact that Will cheated on her.

Same here. And after 8 years, that's something I was beginning to think I would never say. Damn you, Passanante...

It's even worse for me since I know that the show isn't getting any better any time soon. Talk about being depressed. I get the previews now and just go, Same [!@#$%^&*], Different Week.

I would rather Will and Gwen go on the back burner than sit through this same repeated sh*t. I loved the whole Casey/Madde/Will/Gwen friendship. I really enjoyed Gwen's scenes with Maddie the other day. It was like the old Maddie was back and I liked that. Put Jade with Adam and let it be that! Stupid JP.
