ATWT: SOW Hit or Miss

I'm really sick of all the recasting. Almost half the cast is filled w/ re-casts of popular characters. What bugs me the most, though, is that every time they recast, the character changes so much! It's just as if it's a new character altogether.

ATWT has the most recasts I can think of on any of the soaps. It's very rare they ever bring back the former actor or actress. The only ones I can think of are Paul Leyden and Paolo, but even then, they were always supposed to be short-term roles. I guess the only "contract" returning actor is Trent Dawson.

Right now, we have Meg, Craig, Adam, Mike, Dusty and Paul just to name a few.

Gwen & Will so need to be backburned. Everytime, I tune in they're on. It's annoying as hell.

It would have been nice if they were given a storyline with something more creative than a 3rd party interloper. I mean, didn't they JUST have that one?

They are also !@#$%^&*] footing around Gwen's character lately. She used to be far more outspoken when she first started, especially with her mother. Now she easily lets her mother get to her. That's not the Gwen I remember.

ATWT's Gwen is making beautiful music this winter, but bringing in Adam to be the spoiler between her and Will so soon after Jade's Summer machinations makes for the same old song and dance. Will and Gwen were one of Oakdales most tortured couples even before they graduated High School. With a track listing that includes a dead baby, dead sister, dead father, alcoholic mother and a murder rap, they could easily win a Country Music Award__ so why add on manufactured, prefab conflict in the form of both Jade and Will's newly returned big bro?

Believing that a smug, swaggering record producer could charm Gwen is no easier than buying Will putting the "ho" in "homeless" with schemer Jade. After Gwen and Will faced the Slasher and emerged stronger than ever, slick NuAdam (Who changed faces faster than Will's other brother Paul changes hairstyles) doesn't even make the cut. For his part, Broadway actor Matt Cavenaugh certainly has the pipes, but like any new character, Adam needs to sing backup before he sings lead.

Worst of all, instead of getting the band back together, Adam's arrival seems to have separated Will and Gwen from pals Casey and Maddie-- and the new lineup of Jade, Adam, Gwen, and Will is anything but four-part harmony.

This is one discordant ditty that definitely needs a new arrangement.

Go, SOW! This Miss is spot-on. The storyline -- just one of many, unfortunately -- is much too contrived and repetitive, and as much as I like Will and Gwen, I think they need to be backburnered for a bit. I also agree that Casey and Maddie are getting splintered away from Gwen and Will, which makes no sense after all they went through together during the summer. Plus, Jade and Adam have NO chemistry, almost as little as Adam and Gwen have.

I don't like NuNuAdam at all; the actor may be good, but he's wrong for this part...assuming the writers even know who Adam is supposed to be, which I don't think they do. He's been written all over the map in the short time he's been here.

I am so tired of Jade, Gwen and Will I could scream. Adding this lame instant story does not endear them to me one bit. (Although watching Jade knock St. Gwen down a peg for her hypocrisy was kinda fun.)
