Marlena loved Roman AND Don Craig too.

Period.

I hate Belle - selfish bitch. It was sooooo fitting that the other selfish bitch-Carrie was there with her. Hate both those heifers.

But Phillip rocked!!! I loved when he slammed his fists down on the table. I loved him telling off Kate. WHY does this actor have to leave?

Even though I'm one of the few EJ/Sammi fans on the board, I got a kick of the conspiracy between Maggie, Lucas and Will (CUT HIS HAIR!!)

After today's episode I really want Lucas & Sami back together. But I hope EJ & Sami remain good friends.

I loved, loved the Evans/Black family, with only the twinners missing. And Will/Claire of course. They're such a beautiful family, in every way.

I agree that Marlena loved Roman, truly. But she's not saying that she didn't really love Roman. And also, it was "truly, truly..." Not "really, truly..." It was different from how she loves John. That's why they had the affair. Marlena loved Roman deeply, and she was torn because they had a bond. But John was her other half. Her best friend AND lover. Their connection is so different and so intense from what she had with Roman. Roman left her when she became too human. His family wasen't perfect anymore, so he left them. John's seen her worst sides and her best sides, and he just loves her more because that's who he fell in love with. Not the doctor, he fell in love with the woman - flaws and all. They've been through more than Roman and Marlena went through (and I loved RoWayne and Marlena, belive me, I still tear up watching their divorce discussions). Marlena loved him. Deeply and with everything she had. She loved Don the same way. And he stomped on that marriage and broke her heart (which made her take a long, long time before committing to Roman). But no one can deny that John is the one. He's her soulmate.

It feels like they're trying to make clear what Reilly tried to keep on the down low. That John & Marlena are soulmates. And I'm happy. It's the first time that a writer has actually made a real effort for John & Marlena. Not screwing them over for another couple and making them doormats for them to yell at or use to their advantage when they can't solve their own issues. They're getting focus on them and their family.

ITA. It's obvious Marlena had a strong love for Roman in the past, but she didn't say she never loved him. It was all in the wording, like you say. I was so happy to see that!!

And I love this show more than I've loved it in years! I liked the kinda slow motion stuff they did when Kate and Victor began to turn around and see Shawn's car coming. I LOVED the scenes between Kate and Philip, they did amazing. I especially liked the music during their last scene at Chez Rouge, for dark and added alot to the scene. The music in general has been fantastic lately.

I don't think Belle is selfish as Mimi. Now, you wanna write a book on selfish, there's the gal to go to.

John IS Marlena's true love. He's been there for her when she was possessed and when everyone thought she was a psycho serial killer. Roman could have never done that...he's too proud and still puts Marlena on a pedestal. John doesn't, and that's why this relationship works. Not many men would deal with all that crap and drama.

Kyle and Brandon both did a great job. The two have really good chemistry. His scene with Claire was so adorable and heartbreaking at the same time. The baby is the cutest since Endora on Passions.

I can appreciate what ya'll have said about Roman and Marlena toward the last after the cliff death of Roman but before that there was such an intensity with Marlena's love. She gives her whole heart and holds nothing back when she is in love. As mentioned, it was the same with Don and even though we didn't see the romance that led to marriage, I'd be willing to bet, it was the same when she married Alex. Living through more years with John and sharing more of her life with him, means more because it is more. But I still believe that one can love with their whole heart and that is all there is. She loved them all equally, but has more life with John, so that is my issue with this. She loves him longer, closer, dearer but not the only man she truly ever loved in my opinion..

Marlena has loved more than one man. But what she said today was important. John has been insecure about Roman since 1997. Everyone's reminded him that Roman & Marlena were in love and happy, that they share children. And despite Marlena reminding him that she chose HIM and she is in love with HIM, it's always been on the back of his mind (thanks to Brady, Roman, etc). She made it clear to him that after everything they've been through, everything SHE's been through, that she searched everywhere to find where 'home' was, and she saw him and she found it right away ("Amazing how easy it was to find").

I love how everyone thinks Marlena is such a good god damn mother. She's the worst mother in Salem. She's *NEVER* there for her kids! For whatever reason, her mothering skills SUCK!

When everyone says that the Kiriakis Mansion is back... WHICH mansion are you referring to? The old one that burned down, or the piece of [!@#$%^&*] one that was only meant to be 'temporary?'

  • Member

Kenny, we're talking about the new mansion. While I did love the old mansion, I like the new one and have gotten used to it. A little history nod for DAYS fans: Did you know that the "new" Kiriakis mansion used to be Jan Spears' house back in the Salem High days? I didn't know that until I watched the scene where Shawn and Jan tell Mrs. Spears that Jan is pregnant.

And King, Marlena is a good mother. The times she wasn't there for her children were not her fault. She is the most tortured character in daytime history. You cannot hold that against her. But when she does get back to Salem and back to normal, she is always there for her children. I love watching Marlena in the mother role.

How many more accidents is that race car going to go through before it is retired.

First Phillip wrecks it, then it supposively blew up at the Grand Prix, now Shawn has driven it into the mansion. What a car, Victor shouldn't have pulled out of financing the turbo engine.

I totally disagree with you. She is probably the best mother in Salem right now. She knows how to help people. It's not her fault that she's been the worst treated character in daytime history. But the times she is her normal self, you can tell she is a terrific mother. I think after tomorrow's show, maybe you'll change your mind.

P.S. I've only been lurking the boards for about a month. I don't really have the time to post anymore, but when I do have the chance, it's always a delight. Missed you all. :)

I'll try to post more from now on.

AND Sheffer's first few episodes are/were totally AMAZING. No other word to describe it. This is the writer we've been looking for!

The ending today was so chilling. I loved it!

F.Y.I: One of Victor's henchman, Nico, returns to the show tomorrow. Can't wait.

A new era has begun!! :D

I think she sucks ass. If she was my mom, I'd kill myself.

OMG!!! NICO!

Oh, Marlena is a bad mother. A lot of it has had nothing to do with the bad happenings to her. This is particularly obvious with Sami. She's just not a mother to that poor girl. Only times I remember her ever being anything remotely like a mom to her have been '99 near-execution and the Austin/Sami non-wedding circa '06, and that was for five seconds.

Can't comment on the rest of the show--haven't seen it. :P
