OLTL: Rumors about Higley

Featured Replies

I just wanted to dispel the rumor that Ginger Redmon is the new HW of One Life. Ginger happens to be a personal friend of mine. She wrote scripts for the show for three years and was fired August 1. If there were any plans to rehire her, I'm positive I'd be aware of them. So whatever you do or do not like about the show, please do not blame my friend.

Anything else you can share about the state of OLTL?

Ummm. Did you join to say that??

Yes, Ginger Redmon was fired after eight years with the show. She had worked her way up through the ranks after starting with the show as an unpaid intern in 1998.

Can you help me out with Ginger's Profile from 1998 to 2006? :) This is all I have.

Is she old?

Thanks for the link Eric. That was a great read. How I wish that the higher ups would heed his words and those of Douglas Marland as well. I especially loved this line:

MLH: Soap operas are driven by character. When you took over the writing on ANOTHER WORLD, the prevailing theory was that plot was more important, wasn't it?

LEMAY: That is still the problem. People are doing ridiculous things on soaps they don't have to do at all.

Its amazing how something written so long ago is still so true. No wonder daytime is dying. The powers that be never listen to good constructive criticism. Frons and his focus groups drive me nuts. I don't think that soaps should have to cater to fanbases but when the same problem keeps coming up, dumbed down poor writing, and keeps being ignored something has to happen and in the case of ABC daytime that is falling ratings. At one time I taped all three ABC shows, now I am only sporadically watching GH. I don't want my soaps to be cancelled but honestly I cannot watch them in the state they are in currently.

Toups, Ginger Redmon started with OLTL as an intern while getting her master's degree. She was quickly hired to be Jill Farren Phelps' assistant, and after one year was promoted to Continuity Supervisor with the show. She held that job for almost four years until being promoted to script writer under Michael Malone and Josh Griffith.

Awesome! Thank you so much, Kitty. :)

Does this look right?

Yes, Toups, that looks right to me. As I said, Ginger is a friend of mine, so I'm not positive about the specific dates of award nominations, but I do know that two of her scripts were nominated for Writers Guild awards and one was nominated for an Emmy.

why dont you ask her how Dena acts behind the scenes?

B&E were part of Dena's writing team from October 2004 through Aug of 2005. I don't want them near this show again. If anything the July 4 cheerleader BBQ should forever bar them from being with a mile of OLTL ever again.

I forgot they were mysteriously on the credits and then disappeared. But why was the BBQ their doing? (not that I honestly even remember it...)

I just wanted to add that Ginger is out of town right now, so I doubt she's aware of this rumor, but she is sure to get a kick out of it and will be thrilled by your interest in her.

Dena is based in LA and Ginger's in NY (I assume).

Since Ginger is a SW, she probably doesn't have much contact with Dena. Dena probably just has conference calls with her associate head writers and probably calls the script writers when she wants to talk about specific in the script. I assume this is how it works when a HW is not in the studio.
