Knots Landing
I thought Season 6 was the best season. Val's babies and Ava Gardner arc were the highlights for me. The last 10 episodes of season 6 were the peak of the series.

Do you mean in terms of the show run? Generations lasted 22 months.

Sheila has been played out since 1998. She's Bradley's "break glass in case of emergency" character.

Dallas Discussion Thread
I was floored when I saw that near the end Dallas lost the time slot twice to Family Matters. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall at CBS/Lorimar when that went down.

Dallas Discussion Thread
Dallas was effectively over Spring 1989 with Sue Ellen departure. The final two seasons were a waste of time and they only happened because CBS was in their third place prime time mess era. In the final two seasons Dallas was regularly losing the time slot to Perfect Strangers and with the brief move to Friday 10 pm Dallas was regularly losing the time slot to 20/20. Also lets not forget the two time slot losses to Family Matters. Clearly a sign it was time to go. Larry Hagman got less big and bad when Angela Lansbury savagely knocked him off the throne at CBS and he wasn't so big and bad anymore when he lost the time slot twice to Urkel.

Knots Landing
Season 5 Knots Landing got glamorous and it also got corporate with Lotus Point and ventured into James Bond/action thriller territory with Wolfbridge. Lotus Point and Wolfbridge worked because they encompassed the entire canvas and still gave us high emotional stakes character driven storytelling.

JFP run started good but couldn't maintain it's momentum and then just fell apart. Yes, JFP got the ratings up in her first year but that was helped by ABC big three tanking at various times during that year and Days being in their post-supercouple/pre-Reilly mess era. The big cast departures of Summer 1992 (Kimberley Simms in June, Sherry Stringfield in August, Beverlee McKinsey in August) derailed all the momentum that had been built during JFP first year. While September-December 1992 weren't bad, the departures left a void in the canvas. January 1993 Maureen Bauer killed off and that whole era from aftermath of Maureen's death until Nancy Curlee leaves the writing team in March 1994 was a chore to get through. That era was marked by way too much Buzz but a positive for me was Michael Zaslow finally getting his long-awaited for Lead Actor Daytime Emmy. June 1994 the start of OJ and GL was not in a good place creatively. Some might say GL limped along in its final 15 years. I would go as far to say GL was effectively over in the aftermath of OJ.

@Antoyne @Taoboi In terms of hotness where do Sean Dominic, Jermaine Rivers, Nathan Owens rank against the BtG trio Sean Freeman, Brandon Claybon, Jibre Hordges? The BtG males got the Y&R males all shook.

Re: Alan recasts. Two things I've pointed out before. Daniel Pilon seemed like a stop-gap in order to wrap up Alan storylines and write the character off the canvas. I am 99% sure that JFP had a friend in mind for Alan but said friend was either not available or not interested, thus Ron Raines was cast and he was a virtual unknown to daytime fans but not to musical theater fans.

Ratings from the 70's
September 11, 1972 CBS rearranged the soap schedule (all times ET) 11:30 am Love of Life Noon Where the Heart Is 12:30 pm Search for Tomorrow 1 pm Local programming 1:30 pm As the World Turns 2 pm Guiding Light (moved up from 2:30 pm) 2:30 pm The Edge of Night (moved up from 3:30 pm) 3 pm Love is a Many Splendored Thing (moved down from 2 pm) 3:30 pm The Secret Storm (moved down from 3 pm) We know the move for The Edge of Night was an epic failure. The moves of Love is a Many Splendored Thing and The Secret Storm look like tank jobs. March 26, 1973 the soap schedule changed again (all times ET) 11:30 am Love of Life Noon Y&R (series premiere, replaces Where the Heart Is) 12:30 pm Search for Tomorrow 1 pm Local programming 1:30 pm As the World Turns 2 pm Guiding Light 2:30 pm The Edge of Night 3 pm The Price is Right (moved down from 10:30 am, replaces Love is a Many Splendored Thing. 10:30 am had the series premiere of $10,000 Pyramid) 3:30 pm Hollywood's Talking (series premiere, replaces The Secret Storm) 4 pm The Secret Storm (replaces The Vin Scully Show) Isolating The Secret Storm from the rest of the soaps, that looks like sabotage.

The more I think about it, I'd guess the 1985 favorite was Deidre Hall as supercouple Days was going strong. Robin Strasser won three years earlier but the 1985 nomination was during One Life to Live tanking era (from the 1980s Ratings thread One Life to Live was tanking from when Y&R moved past them for #3 in 1984 until Andrea Evans return in 1985). I broke down Elizabeth Hubbard losses in the As the World Turns thread but I think she had the same issues as Susan Lucci, the submissions were not so great. As for Susan Lucci, the losing streak actually boosted her profile. Even those who never watched All My Children or daytime at all knew who she was. The losing streak also played a part in bringing an audience to the Daytime Emmy broadcasts. It's no wonder the Daytime Emmys stopped being relevant once the streak was over and it's also telling that Susan Lucci was the only Daytime Emmy winner who's win got a People cover story.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
We already know Marcus indulged. Maybe Jody likes Marcus for his access to the finer stuff. Larsa still trying to snag a baller, which is just ridiculous at her big age. She got half of Scottie Pippen retirement fund in their divorce plus she apparently has family money so I don't think she's hurting for cash.
