Knots Landing
Greg Sumner intro in season 5 as the new villain was the finishing touch on Knots Landing going full-on 1980s primetime soap. William Devane had a commanding presence from his first episode, but I don't think he took over the show.

Murder, She Wrote
DEATH BY DEMOGRAPHICS IS `MURDER' MOST CRUEL That episode totally shaded CBS. Considering how CBS treated Angela Lansbury after all she did for CBS primetime, I don't blame her for reacting the way she did.

Many have said that GL hit its nadir in 1996. From what I've seen of 1996 ratings, they bottom out during the summer and early fall, and Another World even finished ahead of GL some weeks. GL was in cancel territory and it looked like B&B was preparing to expand to 1 hour to line up with the 10th anniversary in March 1997 but as we all know that didn't happen.

Knots Landing
Jill's descent into madness is one of the storylines that made Knots Landing go off the rails in the aftermath of Laura departure. The other two were Charles Scott and Johnny Rourke.

Search For Tomorrow Discussion Thread
You're welcome @Paul Raven. There was also the CBS schedule change of February 4, 1980, when an expanded Y&R moved from noon ET to 1 pm ET, and the local programming half hour moved from 1 pm ET to noon ET.

Even though I wasn't watching GL in real time by then, I was happy that MZ got his long-awaited for Lead Actor Emmy. MZ deserved more wins than the one he got. He wasn't nominated in 1991 but should have been and I think he could have won that year, and I also think he should have won in 1992.

That's right, Kim Zimmer was pregnant with Jake Weary when Reva was pregnant with Shayne. I don't think I've seen a photo of Mr. Weary, but from what I can tell Jake looks so much like his mother.

Search For Tomorrow Discussion Thread
I feel CBS/P&G got really shaken by 1978-1982 ABC huge rise and domination, thus the changes to the shows. Considering Capitol showed no growth, I wonder if CBS ever regretting cancelling Search for Tomorrow. From the 1980s Ratings thread, Capitol pretty much inherited Search for Tomorrow audience but Capitol ratings were impacted when One Life to Live rebounded in 1985 with Andrea Evans return. Remember Capitol was head-to-head with the second half of One Life to Live. Even if CBS kept Search for Tomorrow, I think it would've ended as soon as Bill Bell had a second show ready. Funny thing is Search for Tomorrow NBC run was only three months shorter that Capitol run.

BTG: May 2025 Discussion Thread
I wonder who Andre was thinking about when he was lying in his bed. Kat gives me feels of Y&R early Christel Khalil Lily, and her being a virgin is a throwback to the 1980s prized virgin heroine ie. Y&R Cricket, B&B Caroline, As the World Turns Lily.

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
IIRC Storm was a nickname given to Stephen Logan Jr. as he had a stormy temper. Much like William Foster Jr. was given the nickname Snapper for snapping at everyone. I remember an interview with either Bill Bell or Bradley where it was mentioned Bill Bell got the name Ridge from a college classmate of Bradley's. Bradley even said that his classmate tells everyone "I'm the real Ridge". I don't where Bill Bell got Thorne from.
