  1. I think Earl Hamner producing/writing was reduced somewhat in season 5. I also think Earl Hamner was not producing/writing at all in the final four seasons. Earl Hamner involvement being reduced/eliminated probably is why the changes in direction in the final five seasons (season 5 Dallas with grapes/Miami Vice hybrid, seasons 6 and 7 high-octane action-packed thrill ride, seasons 8 and 9 off the rails plus budget mode). Falcon Crest had all the ingredients for a great show but the execution squandered the potential and I think network interference and backstage drama played a big part in that.
  2. It just occured to me that Michael Zaslow and Kim Zimmer were both on One Life to Live in 1983. I was never a ABC soap viewer so I wouldn't know if their characters interacted.
  3. @GL Oldtimer 29:25 start of segment talking about MZ being written off GL.
  4. I remember all the thirst for Tyler on this board. I don't know what Redaric Williams is up to now, but I could picture him on Beyond the Gates.
  5. Practically every episode this month I've been like "what is this mess?"
  6. 1998 Daytime Emmys GL got five acting nominations: Cynthia Watros (Lead Actress), Kim Zimmer (Lead Actress), Grant Aleksander (Supporting Actor), Amy Ecklund (Supporting Actress), Kevin Mambo (Younger Actor). As we all know, Cynthia Watros ended up pulling off the biggest upset ever.
  7. Hahaha, yes it does I don't think that would've fit on CBS in the CSI/NCIS/Criminal Minds/Hawaii Five-0/Blue Bloods era though.

  9. Falcon Crest first season felt more like a family drama. I thought of it as wealthy Waltons in modern day California wine country. I don't think Earl Hamner wanted a Dallas with grapes/James Bond hybrid but that's what seasons 2-4 were. I wonder how much of the shift in direction was CBS mandated. CBS should have realized that Earl Hamner was not David Jacobs or Aaron Spelling or Bill Bell. Family drama was more Earl Hamner style, not soap opera.
  10. Dallas at its heart and roots was a western, but it got corporate and glamorous in response to Dynasty blowing up.
  11. @DeeVee You're welcome. Yes, no mention of CBS and P&G either. 1999 Daytime Emmys didn't have an In Memoriam segment but when they did that segment honoring all previous Lead Actor/Actress winners, MZ clips got a lot of cheers.
  12. @alwaysAMC You're welcome. I can't remember if this was posted here before.
  13. Remember too that Knots Landing was a community-based show so it didn't have the same limitations in storytelling and expanding the canvas as the family/business conflict-based shows did.
  14. It's quite telling that there wasn't much mention of GL in this segment.
  15. Hold up, what happened with Chris Bernau in 1988? I always thought he left by his own choice due to his health. I think his last episode was May 1988 and we know he passed away June 1989. I'll name names: Les Moonves, Mary Alice Dwyer-Dobbin, Paul Rauch.
  16. B&B was tanking second half of 1995 (that overlapped w/ Y&R being off-track mainly because Nick/Sharon were eating the show and Reilly Days blowing up) thus Sheila return and Lauren moving over from Y&R. By 1996 Sheila and Lauren were hardly in each other's orbits. Sheila second run (1995-1998) there were signs she was getting played out. After that, Sheila became Bradley's break glass in case of emergency character.
  17. I see the Tattletales episode guide @Franko and raise you this The New $25,000/$100,000 Pyramid/Episode Guide | Bob Stewart Wiki | Fandom
  18. Abby was introduced as a divorced mother from a working class background and we saw her working as a bookkeeper at the car dealership. She was all about the come up but she had both street smarts and book smarts to get that come up. Once Knots Landing becomes full-on soap, then Abby role as the villainess is set.
  19. Yeah, oil companies were so 1980s. Perhaps in the 1990s it could have diversified into Lewis Energy.
  20. Knots Landing becomes full-on primetime soap in season 4, although soap elements are showing during seasons 2 and 3.
  21. Nicole and Carlton perhaps? I got the impression he was checking for her.
  22. @Contessa Donatella Thank you for the link.
  23. I am intrigued at the thought of Hayley teaming up with Silk Press Sheila. Let's see where this leads. You love hair tosses Derek is no prize. Shanice is quite the thirsty thot. First Andre, now Derek. What? Today's love scene, the passion and heat was still there, and of course set to an R&B slow jam 🥰 Finally, Kat got called out and put on blast for being a spoiled brat princess.
  24. I've pointed this out before, but I think Pamela Long diminished Vanessa in favor of her creations Reva and Alexandra.
  25. Ewww. Vanessa is a nasty ho and Joey is just nasty period. I don't know how old Lauren Buglioli is, but I'm guessing that she's somewhere between 35-40. We know Jon Lindstrom is 67 going on 68. The age difference is apparent.
