  1. 40 years ago. Week of April 15-21, 1985. A pivotal week in CBS primetime history. Murder, She Wrote shocks the world by finishing ahead of Dallas for the first time. Angela Lansbury let us think for an entire season that she was sweet and unassuming but at the end of the season she let us all know that she could be savage when she took down big bad Larry Hagman. Here's what happened on the soaps and the two rookie hits that week. The Cosby Show was a repeat of Play it Again, Vanessa (episode 8 ), original broadcast November 8, 1984. Murder, She Wrote - Funeral at Fifty-Mile (season 1 finale): At a Wyoming rancher's grave, a man shocks mourners -- including the deceased's daughter -- by claiming to be the true heir. This episode was also the season high. Dallas - The Ewing Connection: J.R. presents Jack's deal to Bobby and Ray. Lucy and her ex-husband Mitch meet. John Ross is rushed to the hospital for appendicitis. Falcon Crest - The Decline...: Angela alienates the Giobertis by offering Maggie the post of acting publisher of The New Globe. Lorraine and Emma search for Lance. Dynasty was pre-empted for a repeat of Hotel. Knots Landing was pre-empted for Space (Part 5).
  2. Somehow I remember it being reported that James Reilly wanted Melissa Reeves for Sheridan.
  3. The Abbott house set is 43 years old. I think maintenance expenses are an issue.
  4. @DRW50 That promo looks to be from Summer 1987. I remember there were Summer 1987 promos that featured Addicted to Love.
  5. In the early years of B&B it was easy to ignore Ronn Moss acting due to Bill Bell writing and having scene partners Susan Flannery and Joanna Johnson to carry him through his scenes. Ronn Moss acting got progressively worse during the 1990s. Then again Bradley writing didn't help matters either.
  6. I think Kimberley Simms (born 1963) was a little too old for Jennifer (would have replaced Melissa Reeves (born 1967)) but the right age for Ashley (would have replaced Brenda Epperson (born 1965)). If Y&R casted her, the bigger question is if she would have passed the chemistry tests with Don Diamont and/or Eric Braeden.
  7. Susan Flannery took all the no talents back to acting school.
  8. Apparently contract negotiations fell through (contract length was the issue). I always thought it was finish initial contract, move on to other things while still relatively young. Kimberley Simms was mentioned in the soap press as a potential recast for some big roles in the 1990s (Another World Vicky in 1994 and/or 1997, Days Jennifer in 1995, Y&R Ashley in 1996) but as we know nothing came of it. She would return to GL in 1997 for HB funeral episodes and that was it.
  9. Beth Maitland is a treasure and Traci is the heart of the Abbott family.
  10. It boggles my mind that Daniel Goddard lasted 12 years on Y&R.
  11. In real life, Tamara Tunie and Trisha Mann-Grant are 10 years apart in age.
  12. I didn't think much of Mark Derwin acting when he was on Y&R so I was surprised he became so popular on GL, first winning Hottest Male Star at the 1993 SOD Awards then being nominated for Lead Actor at the Daytime Emmys that same year. We know Mark Derwin became a Friend of Jill as she brought him on One Life to Life.
  13. Kyle and Claire love scenes were not off the charts heat generating.
  14. I always point out that Days is such an interesting case in soap history. It started as a Bill Bell show, then it became the supercouple show, and then Reilly sci-fi show. Unfortunately I was not alive for the Bill Bell years of Days, so for my generation Days is best known for the supercouple years and Reilly years.
  15. Weak Oh well, at least the rest of the Bill Bell years are on YT.
  16. There was the pairing with Tangie in 1993 that tanked. Robert Newman had three runs: 1981-1984, 1986-1991, 1993-the end.
  17. Hayley all about the come up.
  18. Depending on how well the 1987 and 1988 episodes do, Shout!TV might upload the rest of the Bill Bell years.
  19. Ho in the street trying to be a lady in the street.
  20. MZ daughter on the Locher Room gave the impression that she wanted to call out Les Moonves, Mary Alice Dwyer-Dobbin, and Paul Rauch and put them on blast for what went down w/ MZ but she held herself back.
  21. I am intrigued by the thought of Roger and Annie in each other's orbits. I haven't deep dived into November 1994-April 1997 to see if Michael Zaslow and Cynthia Watros interacted with each other.
  22. They knew you were attempting a tank job 🤣
  23. Agree, Trisha Mann-Grant is the breakout star of BtG. She should move on to bigger and better things after her initial contract is up. Andre/Dani are everything. I love that he's being supportive of her.
  24. As of today B&B is the 8th longest-running daytime drama on US network television, after General Hospital, Guiding Light, Days, As the World Turns, Y&R, One Life to Live, All My Children. Two key dates: Tuesday March 23, 2027 will be B&B 40th anniversary. Monday December 11, 2028 if B&B is still on CBS, it will have had a longer run than All My Children on US network television.
  25. That's some Tyler Perry s--- right there. Hahaha, love this!
