  1. Which Loving characters (or actors) do you consider the show's missed opportunities? Darnell and Debbi. They were the show' big chance to turn things around. Janie was such a vibrant character, there was no reason to kill her off. Most of Clay's stories (minus the Alex Masters nonsense) could have been given to Roger Forbes. Bryan Cranston's Doug was a really nice guy, played by a very good actor. Chris Marcantel's and Linden Ashby were both great as Curtis. The Lotty Bates story made Curtis a good guy and he left after his happy ending. He later returned as a young boy. Both actors could have played parts of the Rick Alden stories. Jackie Courtney! She was wasted on Diane Winston. (She would make a great Ann) Shannon Eubanks left way too soon.
  2. Has Audra done anything since she arrived? I only saw one or two scenes with Noah and Allie.
  3. I always enjoy reading your thoughts on Loving. It looks as though Stan Albers would fit better as a new Alden son, while Ron Nummi's Rick and his entire story with Stacey screamed Curtis. I don't remember anything about Lorna and a black boy. Angie is a fascinating character, but perhaps she was wasted on a show obsessed with the endless Alden drama (that wasn't even working, ratings wise).
  4. Taylor Ashford became Taylor Hamiton on B&B.
  5. Jill planning to marry a businessman and having to deal with two sets of young daughters who didn't think that much of her. Kurt Costner was basically Brad Elliot 2.0 Lori Brooks and Ashley Abbott dealing with the fact that another man had fathered them.
  6. Angie is such a great character, Loving was so lucky to have Debbi Morgan. Perhaps if they brought back Jesse instead of Jacob, if they built a strong African American unit around them, if they had brought some City elements to Loving earlier... Who was the writer who got the show better than the others?
  7. Caroline was Rita Stapleton 2.0. I loved the actress, she was gorgeous... and that voice! Lenore Karsdorf was fine with Coster and the Lockridge household dynamic was ok as well. On another soap they would have lasted years, but Santa Barbara was all about the Capwells, Cruz and Eden, rape, death and hiring popular soap actors for 6 month characters.
  8. Thank you so much! I tried looking for episodes involving this story with no luck.
  9. I would have forgotten all about "Carolyn" whom we have never seen, and had gone with Susan Pratt as Dr Ann Logan (Webber).
  10. The idea of a fun, glamorous telenovelish soap that would appeal to international audiences sounds great (Hello B&B). Too many recasts and dark storylines (who wasn't raped on SB?) drove people away. The show didn't know how to enter the 90s. The Paul Rauch / Pam K. Long season reminds me of Dynasty and Falcon Crest's last season, we well as Gloria Monty's return on GH. They all tried to revamp their shows for the 90s, only Dynasty kind of did it. But it was too late.
  11. Why was the cult story so bad? No episodes of that era are available online, I have only watched episodes with Elliot running a club and getting involved with Nola and April's mother.
  12. This Justin Deas thing has been posted in multiple threads today. Thank God he didn't work on more soaps Tonka.
  13. Alexis was Madeline Carrington on Dynasty. Myles was Maxwell Colby on the Colbys. Brooke Logan was Jessica Chandler on B&B. Bonnie was Maureen Lockhart on DAYS. Julia was Dorcas on Falcon Crest.
  14. Ashley was Tiffany Abbott on Y&R. Reva was Joanna Lewis on GL. Maggie was Hannah Forrester on B&B. Pam was Lorraine Davis on B&B. Any others?
  15. Billy's ex-wife was originally named Joanna.
  16. The CC / Santana / Mason triangle could have lasted years and years with Brandon, Gina and Sophia being part of the mix. I liked Charles Bateman as CC, he had a Blake Carrington quality. I loved the show from 1984 to 1987. All these rapes started ruining it for me, along with Caroline's death for some reason and the endless Cruz & Eden drama.
  17. I also believe that Pam Long wanted Carla Borelli to play Joanna (who later became Reva).
  18. People have said that baby Dominic Abbott Chancellor Mergeron Winters needs to die because everything about his story is a mistake. Using a suicide attempt in order to force viewers to feel sorry for a lousy character is much worse than people saying that she should jump.
  19. What about Y&R's creativity suicide though? What is Josh Griffith's problem? Doesn't he understand that nobody cares for her? She really needs to jump.
  20. Thank you for your answers. Boring and dull... wow. EON was a very unique show and I guess the circumstances weren't the same on the other soaps he worked. Late 70s OLTL -prior to the Buchanan invasion- (or even GH after Marland?) might have been more his style and worked out better.
  21. Can you name some similarities between Slesar's work on EON and other soaps like OLTL and Capitol?
  22. They were crazy to get rid of Ava Lazar. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I prefer Linda Gibboney's Gina to Robin's. Back in those days I didn't care for Carrington Garland's Kelly, but now I realize that she is what the role needed to survive. The 80s were coming to an end and the princess in danger type could not stay any longer. Carrington and Kimberly Simms *Mindy 2 GL* were what their characters needed in order to keep up with the times. They were more like Nicolette Sheridan's Paige on KL.
  23. What was so shocking about a Jewish character?
  24. Santa Barbara suffered from 80s soap syndrome. Once the Dynasty-supercouple madness was gone, they had no idea what to do with a Capwell show without Cruz and Eden or their other big stars. This episode is so awkward. The Capwell kids and Rosa-Santana scenes reminded me of a telenovela.
