The Chad Dimera Award for Most Unlikely Leading Character
Marcie (Kathy Brier) on One Life to Live. Mimi (Farah Fath) on DAYS. I figured she'd just be another Jamie Caldwell, Sami Brady's sidekick.

Days: May 2023 Discussion Thread
DAYS sucks at business storylines. Keep it vague and keep it lowkey in the backburner. To try otherwise is an automatic fail. I'd jump ship if I worked for DiMera, since the head of the company is constantly changing and their business origins are murky at best.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
12 years later, and it's crazy how they gutted half the cast of RHONY for their "toxic" season 4 reunion. This is more ugly than anything Beverly Hills has done in the last few years (think: Rinna coming for Denise at the Zoom Reunion) There's rumors swirling that Bravo is putting New Jersey on pause so they can figure out where to go from here. On one hand, we hear Teresa asking Andy to take a couple years off; next she proclaims she started the show and isn't going anywhere. If it becomes an ultimatum, I could see them begrudgingly letting go of Melissa & Joe. Teresa will declare herself the "winner," but with hotheaded Louie as a husband, is she really a winner?

Looks like a total mess... I'll be watching! LOL

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I agree about the continued 4th wall breakdown and acknowledging Bravocon, The Reunion, etc. especially since it factors into new feuds in the current season. LOL at Drew still being production's punching bag. All that hoopla for a 43 second appearance on Candiace's lil tour. Yeah, I think RHOA is starting to find their groove again this year and I'm digging Monyetta's presence. But that other girl Courtney -- good grief Charlie Brown! She is doing too much and that voice is like nails on a chalkboard. So grating! I can't take that clown seriously.

My initial thoughts, too. He's teetering on that fine line...

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
100% agreement on everything. Yeah, that comment Gia made really threw me. We all know both parties are not innocent. But last night's episode shows Teresa is the same old person who stirs stuff up by letting her minions do the dirty work, and then runs away and says lame lines like "look at you / you're disgusting" when backed into a corner. And Louis is just creepy in a bad-tempered, ticking time bomb kinda way... I wouldn't feel safe around him. Danielle going after Margaret so hard was stupid. "Don't shoot the messenger" but you got your info from Jennifer, who along with Teresa got it from the infamous Laura. And Danielle thinking the infamous Laura would have no reason to lie... first of all, you don't even know the woman or her motives (and it sounds like she was thirsty as hell to get on the show, so there's that). Danielle looked like a melting muppet last night. [Side note: Danielle is someone you see Bravo pushing hard to make happen. She has gotten a lot of Greek chorus/her viewpoint talking head footage this season. By comparison, if this kind of push was happening over on OC with Gina, who is strongly disliked for some reason, then I could see why the audience would groan at Gina so hard.] My goodness, Jennifer's reaction at Margaret's comment about Bill sleeping with a subordinate. Ooh, that came from the gut. But like you said, DaytimeFan, that is still misplaced anger that should go towards Bill. Despite dragging out the "rat" etc. comment issue, I do like Rachel overall. She's smart, level-headed, and has common sense and doesn't blow up so easily. I hope she gets another year. Jennifer Fessler is a fun side character "Friend of." Perhaps an upgrade next year, or perhaps another year as a friend, much like a Tanya on Atlanta before she got scared off. Jackie's presence fizzled out. No reason to return next year. I think the Househusbands will miss Evan though.

Days: May 2023 Discussion Thread
Meanwhile, I'm amused at how many background extras seem to be sporting witness protection wigs and thick-rimmed glasses. Male and female. Are they pulling double-duty that day and appearing without the wig & spectacles in other scenes?

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Agreed; that's what the long-running Housewives shows were built upon for the most part: real friendships taken to the small screen. NYC, New Jersey, Atlanta, Beverly Hills all started out that way and that's what made them a success in the first place, which enabled them to continue on and evolve. On the flip side, a new Housewives show nowadays is instantly manufactured drama that implodes all too quickly. See: Salt Lake City.

I'm still confused how Vivian Alamain has twins from Stefano (or, "Rudolpho Meradi" as she knew him in 1996). And where the hell did her other son, Quinn, the guy who pimped out Chloe, go? Chloe and Xander need to CLEAN that filthy window. I can't believe it was sold to them looking like that.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
It doesn't matters where any of them live currently. It's basically another ex-wives club UGT, since none of them are on an ongoing Housewives show. They could be in Montana or Australia (Hi Alex!). That said, it is kind of random since she was a 2-season wonder and didn't make a huge impact.

From what I understand, Luann and Kelly have remained friends over the years, not just for TV appearances.

Missed that part.

YAAASSS!!! This makes my RHONY-loving heart so happy! I'll take it! Even that crazy Kelly and non-factor Kristen, to help round it out. @Faulkner I agree it would've been awesome to get Alex included.

I wonder how Carter fits into this unless he's just a wedding officiant again?

“Presumed Dead” Characters Actually Alive But Audience Knows the Whole Time
When Deborah Adair (Kate #1) left DAYS in 1995, viewers saw she survived the plane crash and was stuck on a boat. They left us hanging for nearly a year but Salem thought she died and mourned her.

"The Conners" Discussion Thread
Suggestion that'll never happen: Do one more season. On the series finale of The Conners, after a round-the-table shot of everyone having a big family dinner, we fade back to Roseanne Conner in the basement, once again doing her writing. It turns out Dan is still dead and everything we saw on The Conners was just Roseanne's writing for a novel that'll never be published. The end.

Days: May 2023 Discussion Thread
I look forward to watching it, but like others have said, they really should've done a tribute for the whole episode. Why the heck not? DAYS used to do nostalgic schmaltz like no other show. The Pit - interesting. It always seems like anything 1991-1992 is overlooked on this show unless they throw out a Jack/Jennifer Wedding 1.0 flashback.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
@Cheap21 Thanks for posting - lots of tea indeed! I tell ya, Teresa is over Housewives. At the very least, she wants a "pause" a la Rinna and Dorinda. Sad to hear about Nene too. With that, I've noticed whenever they do old-school trivia games on WWHL regarding RHOA, Nene is always left out like she never existed (kind of like Matt Lauer never existing on The Today Show). And speaking on RHONY: Legacy: I just saw on social media that Luann and Sonja's The Simple Life-like reality show is coming to Bravo in July. Luann, Ramona, and Dorinda are currently doing some sort of shows together in a couple cities in Texas, and they're all bosom buddies BFF's on their Insta's. And Ramona being Ramona apparently leaked that an announcement regarding Legacy is going to be revealed this Monday....!

Lee Harvey Oswald. John Wilkes Booth. I keep secretly hoping another triple moniker will take care of 45 since the cheeseburgers don't seem to be doing the trick.

Nips! lol And I agree with what he said. Take the time to enjoy what you look like now because in 20 years you'll be looking back and remembering how good you looked, how healthy you were with no medical ailments, etc.

Agreed. I don't comment much in this thread but I'm always keeping up with it. I appreciate everyone who posts updates.

2023 Writers + Actors Strike Thread
In this day and age of streaming TV and less and less eyeballs watching network television live, isn't the 55+ demographic finally being sought after more so than ever since statistically they are the demo most likely to watch network television live as it airs? All the more reason why the remaining soaps have a chance to make it through this.
