Regarding Bill having Hayley's name spelled wrong: My real name has an unusual spelling. I was with one of my exes for over a decade but he often misspelled AND mispronounced my name. I finally told him to call me by my initials, which worked out fine. I have close friends I've known for decades who also misspell my name. (That's not Bill's excuse. Just sayin' it happens) Regarding Chelsea and Madison as lesbians being exhausting to watch, and various posts expressing surprise they haven't ... moved in together quickly... into an RV, with cats, listening to Brandi Carlile: Although my sexuality is not the same as Chadison, I do fit into that relationship patttern: I moved in with my other ex after knowing him for a month, into an RV. Really! When we got an apartment, he brought home a cat. After many years, we split. I'm now happily alone, and just bought a ticket to a Brandi Carlile concert. Sorry to go off topic but all those posts made me laugh about my exes. back on topic to BTG.

This is stupid. Just close the "Department of Homeland Security" agency entirely. It was one of the worst results created from the aftermath of 9/11. Return the U.S. Coast Guard to the Dept. of Transportation where it was before 9/11. TSA (airport checks) was created after 9/11. Fold it into Dept. of Transportation. Restore FEMA to being a separate agency, and/or have it coordinate with National Weather Service for weather emergencies and Health&Human Services for pandemic and chemical attack issues. Coordiate with Housing & Urban Development for city emergencies and USDA for rural emergencies. Dismantle CBP (Customs and Border Control). Restore the "Customs" division to the Dept. of the Treasury. Abolish ICE. Re-establish the * original * Immigration and Naturalization Service with a sole purpose of welcoming and helping immigrants.

For that, I want to say thank you. Thank you to this incredible community for showing up again and again — organizing food and rides, making sure our kids get to school, checking in on neighbors, and standing together in the cold. I am so proud to call Minneapolis my home. Renee was not the first person killed, and she was not the last. You know my wife's name and you know Alex's name, but there are many others in this city being harmed that you don't know — their families are hurting just like mine, even if they don't look like mine. They are neighbors, friends, coworkers, classmates. And we must also know their names. Because this shouldn't happen to anyone. Renee always showed up — as a volunteer, a teacher, a mom, a friend — always helping out, making things a little better for others. Seeing the world now celebrate the parts of her that I've always known — the kindness, the humor, the warmth — reminds me of her spirit. Renee and I believed that if we lived every day in the world as we wanted it to be, we could build toward making that world a reality. So I am doing that every day — and every night, as I kiss my son at bedtime and tell him things are going to get better. Renee and I chose kindness. We believed that every life deserves the same care, treatment, and dignity, no matter who they are or what they look like. That shouldn't be radical. If it is, then I want Renee and our family to be known for how we practiced radical kindness every day.
