I personally don't think Joss and Gio was seriously played with in the past. There were a couple scenes you could potentially read into when Gio moved in with the girls but it wasn't hinting at the two of them at all. I'll reserve judgment til I see today's episode, but if they go there now it's because FV know everything else they've done with her has flopped and she's out of chances. I also wouldn't be surprised if Eden is quitting at this point tbqh. GH also knows Emma and Gio are popular, so I can't see them totally derailing that couple. So I am not going to freak out yet. They certainly don't have the built-in racist excuse they did re: Sprina where they were clearly infatuated with Avery Pohl and hoping to re-cement her as a 'reformed' Esme.

ALL: The First Year of a Soap - Growing Pains, Teething Issues, etc...
I'm so glad that didn't go ahead. Some of Rachel Ames' last big scenes were telling Elizabeth in '98 about Tom Baldwin raping her, and she was just incredible in that material. I'm perturbed she didn't get a more full sendoff - I assume she's not able now as she's nearly 100. I think Audrey's last (largely voice) appearance was writing Liz a letter about marrying Franco, IIRC of all things. But still, they did a lovely tribute to her in 2013 for the 50th, when Audrey visited the GH hub and blessed the new memorial or something. The entire cast and extras broke into applause mid-scene after she said her lines, and judging by the look on Ames' face I am fairly convinced she didn't know it was coming. I do appreciate Frank Valentini for that, and for what he did for John Ingle's last request among others.

I don't have any issue with Anastasia being OTT. I just don't think the actress is very good lol. Nor do I have an issue with Mona's faith. I think it makes sense to have a character represent the people with more overt ties to the church. I don't think she's a fanatic. They'd have to do a lot to clean up Randy if they intend to make him continue with her, though.

Vaguely related, I'll just seeing Michael Nouri's elderly ass on The Pitt this season was not on my 2026 bingo card. Props to him for no vanity.

GH: Actor Taking Leave Of Absence
Yep. A lot of these feel vaguely at gunpoint to me lol. And yeah, I often feel Mo is barely aware of what anyone else is saying on this show and just waiting to talk again. But for the most part I think he is old and harmless these days. And some guests clearly do value the uh, experience.

I remember Dana and Sherilyn being vocally baffled by the Bobby/Audrey thing in many interviews in later years. I personally thought they had chemistry, but what do I know. I do think Bobby and Shelly being put back together in the end was likely a Lynch/Frost choice. For a time I wondered if the whole Little Nicky tortured origin thing could lead to a more serious parallel towards Laura's abusive home and childhood abuse. That might've been nice, to see a comic plotline take a turn. But it got so stupid. The kid wasn't bad, and I always loved Ian Buchanan no matter how dumb the story. I wish he'd appeared in Season 3. I will have to get the book - some of the lore (like the Albert spinoff, and the Peyton concept for an episode set in just one Double R booth) is new to me.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Vivica A. Fox (Generations, soon-to-return-to Y&R) is like you've never seen her before in the upcoming Amazon film Is God Is, with Erika Alexander, Sterling K. Brown and many more. Glad to see Vivica getting better work lately, and Erika's career resurgence continues. (I'll tag @DRW50 and @Khan since I think they always like to see Erika Alexander.)

I'll say it. I have thought Anastasia was bad from Day 1. I am glad they are making use of these characters for conflict re: the cotillion which works, but I would not hate a recast of that role or Chessy. This is not the first time mid or bad minor players hired locally outside the soap world has bit this show. I'm not saying they should stop hiring local, but a few soap vets really could help. That goes for Sharon too BTW, who I go back and forth on.

GH: Actor Taking Leave Of Absence
Yeah, KT has been immature since her Bryan Craig years. She's always been like this. I have no patience for her offscreen and barely much more on, since she's always been a mediocre dramatic actress. Britt has no prospects long-term on this show without Jason (not that I thought much of them together to begin with) so I think she's dunzo in the next year. Two on the outside if FV keeps trying.

I have a lot more fondness for the late Season 2 stories than a lot of the cast and crew do lol. Including some of Civil War Ben, Mike and Nadine and Bobby and Audrey. I think it was Peyton who once told me flat out years on Reddit that the Evelyn story was a direct lift from Otto Preminger's classic noir Angel Face with Robert Mitchum and Jean Simmons when I clocked it. Pretty much the exact same plot. Good movie. I think some of that stuff worked on paper but it was poorly done and miscast, and I don't think James Marshall could handle it. His best work was the more elemental stuff Lynch did with him. I knew most of this stuff but I may check out the new book. I remember some other insane ideas Peyton and Engels (who were very talented and wrote a lot of the original series, they just weren't Lynch and Frost) knocked around for the original Season 3, like keeping Windom Earle and Ted Raimi's character as like, a revenant and his undead henchman somehow. No. This AMA is interesting with the author. I definitely didn't know this.

@DRW50 This Vulture excerpt from a new book has a lot of gossip I already knew re: Season 2, but there's a couple new tidbits worth reading (or for others who didn't know). IIRC the scene Lynch wanted dropped in last minute overnight and chewed Harley Peyton out over involved a long, technical opening sequence he thought up involving Catherine Martell. It obviously didn't get filmed but there's never been more detail and I've always wondered about that.

I forget Bailey exists every time they don't mention her, which is often. Last week is the first time she appeared in ages for me to recall her existence. I have never been able to accept that Maxie has one kid, let alone three. But here we are. I do think Spixie deserve the kind of proper blowout happy wedding BLQ and Chase got two years ago - unlike the mediocre Chases, a lot of the longtime audience actually likes Spixie and that is the kind of shared event to help do a soft reset of the canvas and set up new stories. (Nor would they need to be together forever) But they haven't prioritized them in years. They should've struck when the iron was hot again with Kirsten in 2024, because the improved scripts made both her and Bradford shine.
