MEK is on recurring, he should not have 'an annual vacation.' He is not on a contract with the show, they only use him at their convenience.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Never in my life thought I'd hear of Matthew Twining again. The article is wrong though, he was only on for about a year.

I do, I thought it was a lovely romance for Viki with Charlie, a solid intro for Gigi and Shane as well as dovetailing beautifully with the Marcie on the run story, ending very well with the hostage crisis with Marcie at the diner with Viki. One of the best (and last) wholly cohesive stories Ron ever did, because he was not yet high on his own supply at that time. That changed quickly. I haven't watched the episode yet. Not sure when I will. I'm not surprised Ron brought up his feuds. He can't let anything go and was still negging people at GH re: the 60th anniversary a couple years ago. I don't think it can be debated that Ron gave OLTL its last renaissance, and I was very pleased with it initially. But there were as many low lows as great highs over the next few years, often in the same moment in time. I loved and hated a lot of things, and some of it has aged even worse since. I also don't think it can be debated that he and Frank saved GH, both with fun stories or good stories alongside some purely rubbernecking ridiculous or offensive ones. Very few HWs in daytime are just one thing, just binary 'good' or bad'. RC is no different. I think he's well past his prime and previous perspective these days, but he could always surprise me again. I know I'd rather watch his work than a number of others still working, for the good, bad or ugly. But I also don't think it's terrible that he's not currently HWing a soap. I think his extended glory run at ABC was bad for his talent and at times both good and bad for daytime. I'm sure he'll turn up somewhere again, but while I miss some things about his better work fondly I don't miss the feuds, the petty jabs and the tone-deaf approach to so many important issues or character beats.

ALL: Ryan Gosling talks "Days of Our Lives" "Deidre Hall" and the soap genre
I think so, with his performance art pals who then got featured on the show as part of a bizarre remote with Franco fighting Jason. Except I believe it was LACMA.

I think Franco was paid scale or even less. I doubt Gosling is interested, but if he was I assume it would be a similar situation.

That has been my constant wheeze for a while. Do Dillon and Georgie over again with Danny and wallflower Georgie where he's the daredevil who doesn't know she's alive at first, and meek Rocco with a wild girl (likely Asian or Black, be it the Asian Quarter, a Ward, etc.) where you think she's for Danny and then it goes left. It writes itself! Always has.

They've been wise to lean into using Finn Carr, who is very talented. The issue now is failing to give Rocco or Danny adequate stories of their own (and I don't count Danny being sprung for Valentin's test tube hellspawn). They need to recast Georgie and add another female, and play these kids for real in the summer.

GH: Classic Thread
I watched a bit of '04 after the hotel fire; I came back for Heather's return, but the story quickly got bad. I came back again in spring '05 before Tamara left to see A.J. and then to rubberneck at how very, very bad the show got. That year was a pure nadir where they were in clear crisis with so many stories, from Nikolas/Courtney to Reese to Michael's imaginary friend, even before Sonny/Emily began being built up which I saw coming from miles away. People didn't believe me until it was too late! It was bringing back Robin that saved the show, and I was locked in for a good while after that through the monkey virus, and off and on for the next several years. I never lost a whole year of GH but some of the later Guza II years definitely run together for me. Even when there were still often good scenes, characters, etc.

As long as Michael is well, I really don't care where Martin goes. Hell would be fine.

Jason should've easily been able to take Droopy Dog. This whole episode was wild. If Jason does get carted off to Steinmauer that is a hell of a break.

B&B: Launches BBTV app with entire library
A wonderful gift for fans and for history., admittedly a bit somber for me as we know DAYS and Y&R remain under lock and key and I highly doubt ABC/Disney will ever commit to doing the same for what they have of their soaps, let along P&G/CBS. But who knows, this could be a key first step for future preservation.

GH: March 2026 Discussion Thread
As others have said elsewhere I seriously fear this damn baby will have some pointless connection to Sidwell or the larger umbrella and I just do not care. The absolute last thing this show needs is more babies. The only one that would interest me is if Willow somehow got knocked up by Chase, and even that doesn't need to be carried to term. Hopefully the baby is just a temp device to wreck the marriage, but it's still tedious to watch.

Willow, Michael and the Drew mess should be running full tilt. Hopefully with Steve out they'll get more time. Not with Michael's dayplayer. Agreed on Tracy.

I actually like Olivia a lot still, mostly my lasting fondness for Lisa Lo Cicero and some of Olivia's older stories, but most of what she does these days is annoying filler. I certainly don't need her of all people whining about Michael's sex life. I don't think the Qs overall are filler atm, but I do think a lot of the story surrounding them is stuck in stasis. First there is wtfever is going on with BLQ and this damn baby and them taking forever with Chase and Willow, then there's Michael stuck with this dayplayer hooker and now there's Steve Burton taking off for however long. So I think you have stuff that is just filling guarantees for awhile. Hopefully that will change. (I would also bring back Keesha along with a couple kids - for Jason lol. I might bring back Dillon down the road.)

GH: March 2026 Discussion Thread
I think they often would rake each other over the coals about the latest family sex (or murder) scandals, so that part is on brand tbf. But the whole idea of Olivia being the one to get it going, and these younger generations being involved doesn't really ring as true for me.

Clint Ritchie from OLTL did not stop groaning about Barbara Luna til the day he died, lol. (He could certainly be no picnic himself)

I mean I can see old Edward haranguing Michael a bit for getting openly involved with not one but two sex workers, lol. But this whole family intervention with Olivia of all people (who was sprung for Johnny Zacchara and Sonny before making Leo with Julian) is silly.

Again: I have no need to be passive on this board when I want to be aggressive lol. When have you or anyone here known me to be? You read this wrong and took a simple statement as a personal jab at you because my experience contradicted your opinion. I'm sorry you took it that way, but I'm not taking responsibility for how you're behaving to a simple comment about jeans of all things. I'm done with this in this thread, if you want me I'm not hiding. You know where to find me.

That's not really the issue, at least not IMO. Spencer's return would dominate a lot of story and character focus, both Trina and Emma would be inevitably impacted. And I just don't see a need to upset the current youth canvas in that way with the exception of removing Kai and adding some other characters, including a new Black male for Trina who could actually lead and be a viable rival for Spencer in future. They have to think in terms of how they thought of Jax vs. Sonny BITD if they want to move forward there. Of course that's if Frank's GH prioritized Black leads at all, which they do not. I would absolutely bring Spencer back someday, but I would wait. He's just too big a character and I would prefer to keep the focus on Gio/Emma and Trina and a new man for awhile as well as some other potential new people, returnees or recasts, possibly Cameron. Jake would be around but that'd be a different sphere as he's a bit younger. And then you have the actual teens (Danny, Rocco, Georgie, and another girl or boy).
