I actually would probably put Michael with a totally new character, namely a driven surgeon in the Patrick mold. But Serena as a slighty daffy heiress/businesswoman a la Lucy would also be an option to play with. I think it's too pat and cliche to just put core children together right off. Plus Michael has been with a princess type before (Starr). But Christina I would definitely bring on (probably using a new name given the obvious issue) as a troublemaking novelist/activist or eccentric therapist, someone vaguely Bridget Dobson or Lena Dunham (minus the actual Lena Dunham). Trading on her parents' scandals. She would be a spiky character, the contrast to Serena, and would probably end up with the arrogant Dr. Thomas Hardy (Tommy).

Every soap EP says they have big plans for the show every year. Not really the same thing as Corday's grand pronouncements.

The budget issues at all soaps are real and I respect them. But for all his faults, if Frank Valentini was running this show (which I do not advocate!) you would not see almost the entire undercover story being done at the Sesame Street-looking D'Angelo Barksdale Memorial Corner. And there would be a courtroom set for Naomi, Bill, etc. That as well as the lack of the clinic (a key new environment) are major gaps that need to be filled.

The fact is Y&R's stayed on top due to viewer loyalty and inertia. I don't think current Y&R is any good but a crossover with BTG helps BTG due to that audience (and is hopefully a good sign for renewal, as it should be happening well after when a decision will be made by the network).

They were scorching hot in their day. Unfortunately RKK was a notorious sex pest who Rinna, Kristian Alfonso and several other key women at Days all complained about and had to push to get fired from the show.

I absolutely want Kevin and Lucy back together, but not until JL's time frees up. Which may be quite some time. Were Jon more available I'd play a quad with them and a dashing new WSB man for Laura, but at this point under the circumstances I might find a way to do a relatively swift and understated ending for Kevin/Laura, after Laura grapples with some Luke stuff following an adventure with Lulu and Rocco. This will free her up for new romance.

I didn't see these in here (apologies if they are) but both David Fumero (OLTL) and Jeff Kober (GH) are in recent eps of The Pitt. David is looking so daddy I almost didn't recognize him.

I can potentially buy a story like that about Kirsten. But we'll have to see. I am sure we'll see Maxie again. Sidenote: I haven't been back there in forever (the post-aughts interface and authentication system is impossible for me to navigate, nor would I pay to post in that hole lol) but from what I've heard from a couple friends the Datalounge of today is mostly just an clickbait aggregate of random online bullshít and nonsense regurgitated knowingly by randos who have no idea what they're talking about. Frank has gone out of his way not to cut Kirsten loose many times he could've, including when he first arrived and she had been gone for over a year(?). It would surprise me if he dumped her now unless he's just fed up. Or if he let the contract wrap fearing a lawsuit if he released her early. For now I'll assume she'll be back, but this whole situation is just ridiculous.

They have typically overcorrected on Nicole being seen as a too chaste, saintly character last year by letting her take her hair down and have sexy fun. There's nothing wrong with that, except it is now April and Nicole is still bouncing between these guys from week to week, openly setting them against each other and then acting shocked when they decide to compete for her attention. That and the constant mentions of "Nikki" like it's a real thing when it's clearly become an annoying BTS meme are dumb. Nicole needs to have some more reflection on her own behavior.

William Lipton's Amazon show has also (unsurprisingly) been cancelled. I doubt they'll bother bringing back Cam rn but it's worth noting. I wouldn't pass it up if he became available.
