  1. I haven't taken anything Datalounge has said seriously in over a decade. (And I also can't be bothered to go there and try to navigate the site in recent years) Drew is still one of the only compelling story drivers on the show, so I am good with him continuing to wreak havoc.
  2. LMAOOOOOO. I can't even remember what the source of beef was. A lot of these veteran DAYS feuds (Kristian Alfonso, Chappell, etc.) make any drama at GH look like preschool shít.
  3. Props to the photograph above for reminding me that Missy Egan is somehow still on this show.
  4. Ah, the Rerun Week. Always good for catching up on a few days. I'll almost miss them when they're gone soon.
  5. I think Roger for the most part came to work in his time at GH. I think he has been truly committed and at peace onscreen and off ever since he came back to ABC in 2011, and his interviews since then about how he'd grown since the 90s/early aughts, his increased public profile and the comments from co-workers (Erika Slezak, Kassie DePaiva, etc.) have all reflected that. It's just that while he's talented he is also sometimes limited, and more importantly that his GH characters outside Todd were largely awful and the stories worse. This situation is not much better.
  6. I had no idea Kirkland ever did DAYS. Her situation is very sad.
  7. No comment.
  8. Ashley can be redone out of town. Let her go nuts and then write her out. Or just have her leave tomorrow. I'm not picky.
  9. Oh God, that's right. I forgot Eric was in it too.
  10. I knew Roy best from Dark Shadows '91 as a young child, and was stunned when I began watching OLTL and there he was as Sloan. It took me years more to realize it was him on '60s GH. But I'll always be fond of Roy's ridiculous TV movie/failed pilot that got roasted on MST3K, a Hawaiian spy caper with Ian McShane and Franc Nuyen - Code Name: Diamond Head.
  11. I actually think it is/was Sonny for some male viewers, and Jason at times. Anecdotally we have Smith himself being a big longtime Sonny fan, and Erika Slezak's own husband Brian Davies (she told that story in her interviews for her guest spot). I've heard other stories IRL myself. That fondness for Sonny across genders, while not nearly as big as the pop culture footprint for Victor Newman, does exist and is one of the key reasons they don't cut him. I'd still downgrade Sonny and Mo's role and change how he functions on canvas, but I wouldn't cut him for that reason.
  12. They trotted out a bunch of flashbacks during the memorial period, and the video circulated online and here as well - Monica was very warm and loving with Jason by the time he was a toddler or a small boy.
  13. There was a touch of something at Monica's service, I thought. But that's just how glacial the show is.
  14. I agree, which is why I put it in quotes lol. But I do think she's still FV's priority. Too much seems to come back to centering Setton, and I do think a big part of the reason Dante and Lulu are in the freezer is because a) FV doesn't care about Laura or her children and b) he is saving Dante for a thing with Brook Lynn when the Chase/Willow situation implodes. The problem is that this show regularly moves most storylines or couples at the speed of death unless it's high-end sci-fi shenanigans like the Britt mess and undead Nathan. So there can be 'story' but no actual story movement a lot of the time. Unless of course you're Eden McCoy. Then your romances play on increasing fast forward.
  15. Maxie was the only trace of a personality Nathan ever had! Which is why it's so nuts he's back. They slow-walk almost every romance on the show to death as @DRW50 and others have noted, unless of course it's Joss. Which I only realized just now, lol. They really speedrun hers and not too many other people's! But I do think you can tell when the show cares vs. when it doesn't give a shít or want to showcase someone else, and I think they are actively disinterested in highlighting Lulu and Dante as A-characters. I think BLQ/Setton will always be FV's priority in that sphere, until the day she quits or asks for a raise. And even her 'story' is molasses.
  16. Finally getting back to November '91, it is funny seeing Dorian call on Andrew for counsel when she's framed by Alex, knowing what is to come between them. It was nice to see them on good terms again when he was last(?) seen in 2010 joined at the hip to Cassie once more. I got the impression by the end of the show that they were back together, as IIRC they would usually make appearances together and I think the show sometimes made mention of Cassie and Andrew both being in Savannah. (Though Andrew did have his last great scenes right back in Llanview with no indication he was visiting, meeting the amnesiac Marty all over again at St. James in 2008.) Andrew and Cassie reuniting was fine by me. Equally wild: Luna rolling her eyes at Lee Ann's renewed lust for Max, and then having her first scene with him (on November 14, I believe) and instantly getting a bolt from the blue and sensing her new BFF's older man is the man of her dreams. We've discussed this before, but I do wonder how soon they locked in on Max and Luna being for real and endgame. They knew by now John Loprieno was out re: Cord and Blair, as his exit is mere days away, but I don't think they even begin with Max and Blair til the very end of '91. I can't say enough about both Susan Batten and Mia Korf in this period. They were both such breaths of fresh air for the show. Yasmine Bleeth was also strong, though very soon these newcomers and Susan Haskell would eclipse her. Anyway, my spam will likely renew shortly.
  17. 0:35-0:39 is The King and I. After that could be Swing Time but I can't be sure. 0:53 might be From Here to Eternity. 0:54-55 is Mildred Pierce. 1:19 is The Quiet Man. Pretty sure 1:21 is Notorious. 1:41 is Heaven Can Wait. 2:07 is The Natural.
  18. I think they may play with them for a bit to kill time til/if Kirsten turns up, along with some sort of Dante/BLQ thing when something inevitably happens with Willow and Chase. Then they'll only grudgingly reunite Dante/Lulu just in time for FV to take one or both off-contract lol. It's an M.O. he's played out before with people or couples he doesn't care for. He clearly does not want the show to write for AH/Lulu or the couple together in A-story, which I still find deranged and criminal. It is equally crazy to me that they are now claiming Nathan was 'the love of Maxie's life'. In what universe? He was a disposable, genial piece of meat. I wasn't even some great Spixie fan BITD but they had/have a considerable fanbase, moreso than Paevey ever did.
  19. I think this whole Obrecht clan mess will drag on longer than that, unfortunately. Frank also rarely says die on something or someone he's invested in til he's got no other choice, and he clearly adores Paevey, Gati, etc. (I think they're all bigger priorities for him than KT herself tbh, I suspect her only value to him now is via Jason) FV and Korte also would clearly rather gargle glass than give Jason and Elizabeth more scenes or Liz more airtime, connections or story period. They worked overtime to try to peel Lucky off of her, and as soon as JJ was gone she's back to Nurse Jessie status. Point being, unless they land on a big name to bring on for Steve I think Kelly's got at least another year. Beyond that though I wouldn't bet on her chances. It's a matter of time. But it would not shock me either if they found someone earlier and let Britt be the first casualty, lol.
  20. Adriana was actually a popular rewrite. The fans and writers took to the bond with Melissa Fumero and Robin Strasser together as faux mother and daughter, and Malone quickly decided to make the 'hoax' (which Dorian had enacted to try to keep River and Adriana apart) true with the Santi saga.
  21. There are gamers (myself included) and other fans of various things that do watch soaps. Smith himself is proof that a male and sometimes str8 audience still watches, he's a longtime fan (and the Black male audience has also turned up for BTG, evidently - several male celebs have come out repping for it). But I really don't think ABC is pushing for Stephen Smith to have a regular recurring part or ongoing romantic subplots on GH. The initial cross-promotion may have happened once someone at the network or Disney discovered he was a GH fan, but Smith and Brick's ongoing presence and weird storylines are probably just because Frank enjoys having him back. Similar to Snoop's recurring role at OLTL, which was more organic and he was also a longtime fan.
  22. If JL's time here facilitates a Kevin and Laura breakup down the road I'm good with it. I want him back with Lucy. I enjoy him in the part for what it is - I thought Jon was creaky and cringeworthy early on, but he found his footing opposite Bugliogi and in some of the story turns. He's got some menace and gravitas to me, and the audience seems split on him outside of here so it works well enough for me. Provided we get Who Killed Joey by 2027. I just can't stand the Golden Corral set lol. I was its first hater!
