  1. It seems that way, but it's not a done deal. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/trump-is-preparing-to-remove-kirstjen-nielsen-as-homeland-security-secretary-aides-say/2018/11/12/77111496-e6b0-11e8-bbdb-72fdbf9d4fed_story.html?utm_term=.9133853f21d9 Hopefully this will be an indictment Friday.
  2. So true. Then it looks like they are getting rid of the head of Homeland Security as well. It's not like I have any sympathy for people who choose to work for this administration. I sure don't, but the instability is alarming. I guess we just have to hope that there is someone still there who is in on the plan to tackle 45 before he tries to nuke anyone. 🙃
  3. This administration is so unstable. Well, in more ways than one, but they just cannot keep people. https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/13/politics/melania-trump-mira-ricardel/index.html He needs to do every minute of that sentence. One of the saddest parts to me is that the shooter is a retired firefighter.
  4. As much as people criticize Netanyahu, he never really goes for the jugular in Gaza the way he could. I'm glad for that, but as an American it's not a mindset I really understand. It's also impossible for me to imagine our military "warning" people before they hit a physical target so civilians can evacuate.
  5. R Kelly still harming young black girls and still working.
  6. Some good news.
  7. They do deserve to be punished in some way, but the adults in this country have seriously let them down. They live in a country where the actual leader has encouraged white nationalism and calls himself a nationalist. We have teachers wearing "wall" costumes. Then we punish young people for responding to this toxic environment. I see people saying this should follow them for the rest of their lives and they should never get into college. Ok, but this nation gave the most important job in the country to a white nationalist. I feel like I'm living in bizzaro world sometimes.
  8. At least they are trying to deal with the issue of voter supression.
  9. Another day, another assault on democracy.
  10. I think a lot of us agree with this guy, but it's easier to tell people what not to do, than what to do to change the outcome.
  11. ^ Right, we tried that and we know it doesn't work, but statistics do seem to indicate that making 21 the drinking age does help. In other news, no surprise, but it's always nice to have more evidence.
  12. It's so strange to think this happened only 80 years ago. Also strange to think that AM won't be leading Germany much longer. I would argue that 18 year olds are intellectually capable of understanding the issues involved in voting. That's so different from seeing the consequences of drinking. Even many older adults can't or won't do that. I've known more than one person far over the age of 18 who claim to be better drivers after they've had a few. So damn stupid. Also, voting is a constitutional right. Drinking is not. To me the closer one is driving itself. In some states a 15 year old can drive. When you think of all the judgments drivers make every day, I find it terrifying that people under the age of 18 (and over the age of 80) are out there doing it everyday. The self driving car revolution cannot come soon enough for me.
  13. @Khan I'm not seeing the connection between the drinking age and the voting age. Why would we change the voting age? I don't see the benefit to life or health that would come from that?
  14. Well, it certainly did reduce the amount of drunk driving going on. I'm not saying it's good to send 18 year olds off to war, but I'd rather have them trying to kill our enemies in a war, then kill me on the highway. https://drugfree.org/learn/drug-and-alcohol-news/drunk-driving-crashes-reduced-since-drinking-age-was-raised-to-21-study/
  15. As it almost has here, since Trump is arguably a right wing populist. I agree with some of the ideas behind leftist populism, but really, has it ever turned out well?
  16. That's good news. I wonder if we can hope for a run off in Stacey Abrams race? In both cases the presumed winners are racist, cheaters who are embarrassments to their states and our country.
  17. I'm sorry to hear that.
  18. My heart dropped when I saw her name on CNN.
  19. Good! Disturbing, but not surprising.
  20. I believe all of these guys are guilty, but it's going to take someone with the resources and legal expertise of Mueller to sort them out. The sooner the better.
  21. ^ 45 is working hard to keep himself out of jail. I'm starting to think he really will fire Mueller.
  22. Why did Trump turn on Sessions? They seem like birds of a feather to me.
  23. He wishes.
  24. They know it won't work even from a practical standpoint.
  25. I mostly agree with you and the tax revenue gained would be amazing. Of the three legalizing gambling would bring a new set of problems to be solved (crime, addiction), but that cat is partially out of the bag anyway.
