Me too. I always liked Michael Weatherly, but he showed himself to be a jerk. I could almost forgive some of the rude remarks, but then getting her fired when she objected to his "humor" proves he is an egotistical jackass. This article has a few more details about the incidents. https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/behind-cbs’s-secret-dollar95-million-settlement-with-‘bull’-actress/ar-BBQVvrB?li=BBnb4R7

He's right about this. There was no reason to rip that child from her arms. They could have resolved this issue so many different ways before that power play happened.

And I'm furious for them and for all of us. As usually these rich powerful people are getting better deals than they deserve. I suppose it will be worth it, if they really bring down the people at the top, but I'll believe that when I see it.

^ I guess that poll is good news, but I can hardly make myself believe that 30% of our population strongly approve of that man.

It sounds like this guy meant business. Thank goodness he was stopped. Isn't that the truth. It stuns me how biased even ordinary people are in favor of those who have money.

Hopefully, the people who say that Democrats won't make the same mistakes as Republicans when it comes to picking leaders are correct.

I can't tell if you are a troll or simply lacking all self awareness. You are so awful and clueless you actually said Jessica was too smart to be raped. That only happens to stupid women right? 🙄 No one with any sense would care about your opinion of their posts or anything else. Again, you are no one to tell anyone else what to post and certainly not DD who is a more interesting and long term poster than you. You are not the arbiter of what is appropriate on this or any other thread.

I think Bill Clinton would have done it too but 45 didn't make eye contact. The Obamas were too close to avoid him without it being an undeniable snub and I think they are just too classy to do that. Luckily, I don't share that burden.

Avenatti essentially came for the King and missed, I doubt he can even be a high profile attorney after this. This was a really good article. I don't mind that most people have only good things to say about GHWB during the time of his funeral, but I think this writer has many good points. I have mixed feelings about the old Republican guard. They were really against most of the things I believe in, but I think many of them tried to do what they thought was best for the country. If I ever knew that George and Barbara had lost a small daughter I forgot. I was reading some of the letters he wrote about her today. 😢 While I don't think we should canonize GHWB, I can't help but contrast him to what we have now. I miss at least having a base line respect for the opposition. Bob Dole looks so frail.

Ugh! I see from the bottom of the thread that it was some DJ who said it. What an ass. I think our society can do better (although not when our leader is a misogynist), but it's hard for me to imagine a time when there isn't significant sexism. Obviously racism is holding us back as well. It makes me said when I think of how much further ahead we could be if the scientific fields really were a meritocracy.

And I don't think you are a smart person or an interesting writer. I find you and everything you write alienating because you think people on this board have to cater to what you think the topics should be. By the way, no one has to get over anything when it comes to past oppression and atrocity and you are no one to tell them they should. Check yourself if you are capable of doing so, which I doubt.

^ I'm with you. My original point is just that it's a lot easier for someone with low talent to rise in Hollywood than in the field of astrophysics. Science is probably one of the most sexist fields out there though, there is no denying that. Many men are really convinced that because there haven't been as many notable female mathematical geniuses in history it's because women are bad at math. Of course, many groups face similar bigotry, but it's disappointing when people who really are intelligent in other ways can't figure out that the difference is one of opportunity. On top of that most of us know women have to face sexual harassment by the gatekeepers of opportunity. That said, Ben Carson has forever disabused me of the notion that someone who is intelligent in one way is generally bright.

That's true in Hollywood for sure, but with someone like NDT he wouldn't be where he is without scientific talent. It does make me particularly sad when someone has a great mind and then ends up also being a misogynist. It's just so disappointing that people can be so smart in some ways and stupid in others. I suppose that's human nature though. Time and experience has certainly taught me not to put anyone on a pedestal. I'm not even saying NDT is necessarily guilty. Time will tell, but when I'm not sitting in a jury box, I tend to believe the victims when there is more than one, even if there isn't additional supporting evidence.

I can't argue with anything Khan said, but I do think this is really the crux of the issue. At the very least some would rather have less themselves than see anyone poor (and especially the non white poor) get something "for free".

🙄 I can't believe this is the quality of people we elect. Why is it the poorest states elect people who want them to starve to death?

Me too. I admit, it's all about the nostalgia of seeing these actors and characters again for me. I would no sooner be a fresh viewer to Roseanne than I would to Y&R, but I don't think that means these shows are bad. They have something to offer or they wouldn't be around. We all know these networks have no mercy if the ratings aren't there.

^ Every once in awhile this case rears it's head. I wonder if Epstein was bribing the prosecutors involved or had something on them. It seems to me that multiple prosecutors when out of their way to give this guy a break. I'm as astonished as that judge in NY.

The Politics Thread
It's been happening for weeks, which is why several people have been asking for the feature back. I don't have a problem with people are trying to have sincere discussions or people who "push back". I have a problem with people who have a proven record of trolling. It wasn't a coincidence that I made that comment this morning and it had nothing to do with anything posted to me today, but I'll leave it there.
