  1. He's just like Sasse, nothing but talk. Here's some good news. Let's hope other state policy makers follow this model.
  2. This was such a sad article. Just the idea the people can't even be stitched up after surgery is awful, never mind that these super bugs could spread. It doesn't help that our own government doesn't care at all and won't be bothered to try to persuade BN's government to let in more meds. At the same time, what is stopping Egypt from letting in more medical aid?
  3. To secure donors and gain name recognition I suppose. I do wish we had a system more like Canada's, but politics were bound to dominate the next two years in any case. It's like the Kardashians or the Royals. If you don't want to hear about it 24/7, you have to make a conscious decision to block it out. Even then you'll hear about it more than you want to.
  4. What is wrong with our culture that so many people seem to rush in and attack the victims of these mass shootings? It's so sick. I only saw a few mins of a Louis CK stand up once. He made a joke about how when you bring your kids home a puppy, you are basically bring home pain and death. I can't argue his point, but I turned it off. He just wasn't for me. I did like the show Better Things that he's unfortunately involved with.
  5. The problem is it is who about 25% of us want to be. You don't have to be in the majority to cause incredible damage.
  6. ^The hypocrisy and lies are off the charts with that man and everyone surrounding him. This is just sad.
  7. If I could loath this man more I don't know how. The complete lack of empathy and sensitivity is disgusting. As if the father chose not give the girl water.
  8. This is horrific. What a nightmare. Interesting profile.
  9. Me too. #NotOnePenny damn it.
  10. 🤣 I can't. I know it's not funny, but Dear God in Heaven. Sometimes you have to laugh at the absurdity of our government.
  11. Pelosi enjoys pushing Trumps buttons I think.
  12. Things are out of control and it is disconcerting. I also understand your feelings of helplessness on the day to day front. I agree with Vee that there is hope longer term, but there isn't much we can do about the insanity confronting us every single news cycle.
  13. The second tweet. 🤣
  14. I won't watch it either, but I know enough to say Holy $hit. It's like our country is having some kind of collective mental breakdown or something. Nothing makes sense.
  15. ^ Sounds like Rand Paul's been dipping into the eggnog.
  16. 😲 This doesn't inspire my confidence.
  17. I'd like to believe that's all it is, but I don't. The far right and far left are more open about it, but it seems to me antisemitism is infecting our society on the whole. Maybe it can be stopped when Trump is gone, we'll see. But anyway, yeah, I wrote off the women's march for this reason a long time ago. Social media is leading more and more people to fall for this kind of thing. : She said she went home that night and searched Google to read about the Jewish role in the slave trade. Up popped a review of “The Secret Relationship between Blacks and the Jews,” a 1991 book by Mr. Farrakhan, which asserts that Jews were especially culpable. Henry Louis Gates Jr., a Harvard professor, has called the book the “bible of the new anti-Semitism.” Twitter is just full of Holocaust denial and re-framing, it's disturbing. Our society is severely lacking when it comes to critical thinking. One day on Facebook is all it takes to see that. When I see the cracks forming in the Women's March coalition, it does worry me that we won't be able to hold it together for 2020. I know there isn't much point fretting over it though. What will happen will happen and we just have to hope for the best.
  18. You just know some of these people are salivating at the possibility she won't make it another two years. I would have thought things would calm down as we approach Christmas and the new year, but nope. Still chaos.
  19. I'm not sure I'll ever have confidence in our government again. The fact that this insanity is allowed to continue is just unbelievable.
  20. h ttps://twitter.com/MotherJones/status/1076179160823939074 Some good news.
  21. Yes, I think it's real too. I wish I could be that type of person, but I'm with you. Off with their heads (figuratively). Dear God save us all.
  22. I will be very interested to see how people respond. I will obviously get onboard if he's the nominee, but I'm not feeling this peace and love stuff myself.
