  1. Vail Bloom was best in the role. Yes, she made some poor choices in her life offset but if Robert Downey Jr. can not only have a career rebound after he had a much worse trajectory due to drug abuse, surely someone can give Bloom another chance. Speaking as someone who used to be a loyal viewer ages ago, but tbh, no longer watches, I probably shouldn’t be offering an opinion (but of course, I will, lol), the writers shouldn’t just automatically shove Lily and Daniel together, what would the dramatic interest in this? You need some dramatic tension and some twists and turns. Bringing in Bloom and test the situation, so how the characters interact, what their chemistry is. I hate needless triangles that spring from nowhere but it seems like there is a built in one here. Even without Paul on the canvas, Heather knows enough people already on the canvas (Adam, Lauren, Michael, in addition to Daniel and Phyllis)that the character would be viable.
  2. An audio drama series called Case 63 starring Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac is currently on Spotify.
  3. So Elon is already stiffing creditors? Sounds like another magat guy. Also, if this keeps up, it may signal that bankruptcy is really in the offing for Twitter.
  4. I was never holding my breath for that one. I knew he’d have to be forced in a court. His entire professional life is riddled with lawsuits and court cases. Why would that change? Just because he greased his way into the White House? Nah.
  5. Personally, I don’t eff with Facebook or TikTok, but this will probably help those who do.
  6. Good idea @janea4old. Twitter is fast becoming too distasteful for me (even though YouTube has issues, it is more useful to me at this point), with even the trending topics are a cluster-
  7. Though I am no longer tweeting, or retweeting and I deactivated my account, this is succinctly put and is worth disseminating.
  8. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/supreme-court-oks-handover-of-trump-tax-returns-to-congress/ar-AA14qr4y Better late than never, I guess.
  9. McLaughlin seemed utterly chauvinistic and was like a ringleader of misogynistic, arrogant and paternalistic tirades disguised as banter. He was often disparaging of the one woman on the panel and would lead a chorus of mockery of her. After a few episodes I picked up the pattern (in my defense, I was a kid) and stopped watching.
  10. And the episode was literally set during an anniversary for Nancy and Chris Hughes two core cast members who had been on the very first episode of ATWT. In fact, Nancy Hughes had the very first line of dialogue to open the series. Also, if you watch the actual episode from April 1986, there are a few clips included in the actual episode, at the end of the episode.
  11. Just so you know, this is a promo for As The World Turns’ 30th anniversary episode in 1986. I also remember a special announcement during the closing credits, which had been modified to show clips from the show’s previous years.
  12. Despite pressure from friends, I have always stayed far away from Facebook, which did an even bigger disservice to people during the 2016 election, particularly with how amenable the site was to Cambridge Analytica and its data mining efforts. One of the reasons why I was insistent on not tweeting any original thoughts ever since I had heard about the likelihood of Musk buying Twitter until the day I finally deactivated my account, was because I didn’t want a megalomaniac like Musk to profit in any way from my creativity or IP. I know I am just one person and a non-celebrity yet I did have a few notable people who followed me and my most pithy and insightful tweets would somehow get retweeted a lot, which shocked me most of all. Not only was I adamant that Musk not profit off my ideas or creativity or IP, I also did not want someone like that using those things to sell the site, which is what will happen to all those people in groups like Black Twitter who have helped to keep the site interesting. Some think their tweets will stand and fight the good fight, but it’s all going to promote the site, one way or another. More money for Musk and his ilk.
  13. Terrestrial broadcast television has obvious limitations, even when considering how digital substations have made broadcasting a bit more accessible cost wise. Streaming really offers a less expensive option, provided that you are NOT talking about producing original content. I am only talking streaming classic episodes, the way B&B is doing their From The Beginning episodes on their YouTube channel. The cost is likely negligible. They also run ads. It’s a no brainer.
  14. Fortunately, I have found other ways to connect and follow the key people that I had previously followed on Twitter —the other accounts were just background noise. I can check on what happens on Twitter (which is becoming a disheveled mess by the looks of their trending topics) by simply going to the Explore section, which you don’t need to login in order to access. Twitter is like a bad soap opera, one only need break the habit to see that it’s really not a necessity, it’s not food or water or shelter. It hasn’t even been a safe space for dissidents in years as autocratic governments like KSA and CR have found a way in to track their citizens. I also imagine that eventually security may break down, leading to vulnerabilities in the system.
  15. Over the past week, I have seen at least one Op-Ed piece suggesting that it’s hasty and perhaps not a good idea to deactivate one’s account. Well, after seeing this, I definitely don’t regret deactivating my account last month. My tweets had already been downloaded and archived elsewhere at least six months ago and I hadn’t tweeted since then anyway. I saw that too. Any value Twitter had as a news source is ebbing day by day, hour by hour, even minute by minute. Folks can try to stay and weather the onslaught of foolishness but I choose my sanity.
  16. P&G, more than any other company that has ever produced U.S. daytime soaps would benefit greatly, as they have a lot of consumer goods that they like to advertise and market to potential customers. They literally could run their own ads, much the same way Amazon runs ads for Echo on Freevee and IMDBTV before it. And the production costs would be relatively low since these are not new episodes— perhaps the cost of digitization for the remaining episodes not already digitized before 2000, SoapClassics already did a number of episodes, there may have been a number that were digitized but not released for sale because P&G yanked their license before they had the chance to release more collections. But yeah, in the case of P&G soaps, it wouldn’t even be like Days or Neighbors, more like The Doctors or B&B From the Beginning, streaming classic episodes.
  17. @janea4oldPersonally, I think that is a good idea. I have thought about starting one but I often hesitate when making new threads and since that was on the older board design/setup, I wasn’t sure about how much space there was vs. other threads or how active it would be. Like I said before though. I personally believe this to be a welcome addition.
  18. Just came across this gift link, which seems fairly notable.
  19. Am I the only one who feels like laughing hysterically at the evangelicals who are now complaining about feeling used by Trump? Nice try, they’re just trying to extricate themselves from the stench of a losing aura that has become associated with Trump, especially now that they’ve found their shiny new prospect in DeSantis. As much as I have doled out criticism to the BBC (justified, I think), they have done a much more insightful analysis of the COP27 conference as compared to most U.S. media (perhaps I should be tuning in to PBS, which usually commits to more in-depth coverage). Unless there is a natural disaster, most major U.S. media gives scattershot attention to climate change and most definitely do not put things in the perspective of the aspect of all nations, rich and poor being interdependent in the consequences of climate change to our certain peril.
  20. Wow, wrong thread. I don’t usually do this. Sorry. EDT. Here’s something relevant to the topic- If/when Twitter goes down in flames, tbh, I will miss things like this.
  21. Please try Graz with Camryn this time. They had such good chemistry in the brief scenes they shared during one of his brief stints back in the past.
  22. I meant specifically ATWT fans. Yeah, I have popped into the Neighbors thread since the news was announced. If AOL, which was a portal for ATWT streaming about a dozen years ago, hadn’t become such a fustercluck, I can only imagine where ATWT would have landed post-cancellation. Talk about being ahead of your time. The SoapsClassics people were streaming classic episodes of ATWT and GL, without ads though. Geez, P&G truly could’ve benefited from ad-supported streaming of their soaps with the myriad of products they sell on the consumer market, but they have yet to show any sense of innovative intelligence!
