  1. Someone may have already posted this clip in another thread.
  2. This tweeted comment just encapsulates what many of us are feeling.
  3. Salman Rushdie stabbed in an attack onstage. As someone who has attended an event like this, I am more than unnerved right now.
  4. Despite the smiles and occasional giggling, Eileen looks slightly uncomfortable. She covers it well though. The interviewer is presenting “leading” questions, making slightly judgmental comments on soap opera actors, which Davidson sidestepped as well as could be expected. Not the most insightful line of questioning from the interviewer, and he’s getting the responses his questions deserved.
  5. Admittedly, even when I worked with video archives, I hadn’t heard of any major institutions destroying their video archives at the end of the 20th or beginning of the 21st centuries, which, in the era of broadcast affiliates and VCRs seems quite preposterous that there would be no remnants left, but if folks want to take the words of folks who pop up on the boards, out of the blue, every now and then to function as crazymakers then bounce…go awf.🤷🏾‍♀️
  6. If Peacock can offer what Disney+ can offer (which frankly, no one else can), then it will continue to be a challenge as it currently is for Netflix, HBO Max and Discovery+, etc. In other words, every streaming service needs to find their own version of the MCU and they’ll be sitting pretty. 😂
  7. This is very sad. Whether she refused help or didn’t get adequate intervention, she didn’t receive/take the help she obviously needed. May there be a way for her son and the rest of her family to be comforted during what must be such a painful period of loss. There were reports that there were narcotics in her system. You just hate to see the loss of a life come down to this. Hopefully, at the very least, the woman who was injured in the house wreck will survive and be made whole somehow, so there won’t be another tragedy on top of tragedy.
  8. AG to Trump fanatics:
  9. Having worked with video archives I can say that it is not as simple or as easy to dispose of archives as some may think. And there is a cost to that as well and it doesn’t come cheap. That’s all I’m going to say on the matter.
  10. Serena’s statement spurred a rush on tickets for the U.S. Open that exceeded the last 16 days of ticket sales combined.
  11. Not speaking about TPIR but Jeopardy and Wheel Of Fortune always seemed odd to me, as I was more familiar with them being early evening programs. I realize they air late afternoon in some television markets but their place within the Daytime Emmys telecast always seemed incongruous. I am not sure that I ever saw them on the Primetime Emmys either though. Makes me wonder, with the popularity of game shows like Jeopardy and the cultural capital is has amassed in the last decade, if maybe there was a move in the works to extricate the Jeopardy brand, in particular, away from a fading brand.
  12. Considering the well of criticisms I heard from members of the Filipino community online, I didn’t expect the movie to do well. There was a particular abundance of ire towards Jo Koy, in particular.
  13. Even though I can’t really express much familiarity with his work, that clip of interviews with the exes of Armie Hammer is chilling. Also, it seems as if that Surviving R. Kelly docuseries has really opened up a whole sub genre of television.
  14. It was bound to happen when the monthly subscription rates rose so sharply over the last two decades.
  15. With how things look on the East coast in terms of scheduling, Y&R looks to be the immediate beneficiary of Days’ removal from network television, at least in the short term. Beyond that, I don’t watch daytime soaps anymore so I couldn’t say what will happen to the three remaining daytime soaps. Hopefully Peacock doesn’t follow the Netflix model of hastily dumping shows.
  16. They should have posted a longer clip but this performance and the atmosphere were pretty special.
  17. The day comes for every athlete, but the good news is that she won’t be disappearing out of sight because Serena has got many other irons in the fire.
  18. This is awful.
  19. There’s a lot of confusion among media outlets, it seems. Hopefully Heche will regain consciousness and recover. Is the investigation still ongoing? Until Heche regains consciousness, the investigation will likely be limited. There were reports that the woman whose house caught on fire after Heche crashed into it was hospitalized. Is this still the case? Was she badly injured?
  20. As a longtime tennis fan, I will always remember when Olivia Newton John sang “Magic” before the start of the Men’s final at the Australian Open. A special moment.
  21. ^^Oh man, even though her diagnosis was no secret, this is such sad news.
  22. Now that her recovery seems assured , she needs to focus on healing and making restitution to that woman whose house and belongings she destroyed.
  23. And from what I just saw, the person who wrote the original tweet is Canadian and will be unaffected (at least directly) by the decision to move to Peacock. The daytime soaps industry needs to admit that a large section of their daily viewers are likely retirees on fixed incomes. The reality is that the US doesn’t have as generous a social safety net as Canada and many people have had to keep a tighter rein on their pocketbooks and wallets. If this person is so fixed on everybody chipping in to subscribe to Peacock’s paid tier, why doesn’t she start a Go Fund Me account to raise money and gift some subscriptions? Otherwise, she needs to mind her own business (which is free, by the way) and see to her own plans. Soap fans can really be unproductive. Musing on soap specific message boards is one thing but sending trash takes onto internationally known microblogging social media sites is another thing altogether.
