  1. When watching the earliewt episodes..i always forget brooke/ridge didnt officially meet till 50+ episodes into the show. When watching these early episodes, do you think there are any clues to indicate brooke/ridge were gonna be major? I recall as a small child, my mom watching the 1st episode when it debuted..and when she laid eyes on Brooke in those first few seconds she said 'I don't trust her...she looks like trouble'.
  2. I kind of liked the quirky energy of early 80s atwt...but I guess it wasn't as popular hence the hiring of Marland in the mid 80s...talented but bland. I'm kind of glad he didnt get his hands on fun female characters like Diana, Karen or Ariel...he would have snapped them of their spirit and made them as morose as Shannon ended up becoming by the late 80s.
  3. I never understood why the show put Gina with Lauren's father..when the character of Leslie would have made more sense...and made Leslie sympathetic..and have Lauren really develop as a daddy's girl...and Leslie would have been on to her and been an ally to Traci, etc. Oh well
  4. Yeah, there was a.scene in the mid 80s where Traci and Cricket were having lunch... it was before 1986 and after 1983..because the scene that followed was a Nikki and Victor one where they were talking about Ashley...and Ashley wasnt in their orbit in 1983.
  5. Wasn't Nikki briefly a model/spokesmodel for Jabot after she/Victor married? The one thing I never thought the show did enough of was utilize the Jill/Nikki dynamic... yes, they fought over a man.. and were warring mother in laws... but if you think about it.. both Jill/Nikki came from working class/humble beginnings.. and both strived for more than they were raised in. While both ended up marrying a man of money.. Jill seemed to take her experience working in nail salons and used it to move up at Jabot.. and proved herself adept.. and amassed her own fortune/success.. while Nikki was a lady of leisure.
  6. I always will think of Loring as Wednesday Addams from the 1960s The Addams Family... She was on for 3 to 4 years on ATWT.. and I always thought it weird that Cricket never came back even for visits. You'd think Marland would have had the character come back for visits when her mom got married, her step dad passed away, etc.
  7. Kay was almost like an enabler for Nikki's dysfunction and her toxic relationship with Victor. Casey did come back in the mid to late 80s gor awhile..and was Nikki's conscience. So without Casey in the picture, Nikki ended up on the hamster wheel of Victor. Didnt Victor show interest in Casey long before he crossed paths with Nikki as well?
  8. I do find it a shame that Karen left the next year.. because I do think she could have fit into Oakdale mid/late 80s period... same as with Diana.
  9. In housewife land, I understand doritos logic since the format is now about drama and fighting...but there has to be some common sense and logic. It took Kyle and LVP 2 seasons before they got back on track. But neither changed hence why they aren't speaking again. Erika has the best talking heads..she said LVP doesnt care about them so why care about her. Erika is a colder less humorous version of LVP...so it makes sense she can read LVP better than most.
  10. When eden was presumed dead..didn't CC want to groom Kelly to work at Capwell? Didnt she mention something about art..or design? And oddly, EileenDavidson's take on Kelly reminded me more of Eden. I would have just had her be an Eden recast... couldn't have been worse..imho
  11. Karen....I don't get ttlhe love for. Great outfits..but grande dame? Cocky much? I will admit it still seems fresh and not contrived unlike some of the other shows. Rhony...thank gosh for Barbara adding a new element..or I wouldn't even bother watching. I like shows that change cast mates...and I wish the shows would do it more often.
  12. People dressed better in the late 80s than they do now. It was back when everyone had money, or could afford to appear as though they did.
  13. Madonna came up with ray of light and music after major changes in her life (motherhood, moving to the UK)....so when she moved to Lisbon..I had a feeling she would be inspired. It sounds modern, yet also unique and a classit's own its own. And she actually did a music video with a story!
  14. Brain fart...my bad! You are absolutely correct
  15. Dorinda needs rehab...she's mean, bitter and uglier on the inside than Bethenny...and that's saying something.
  16. If they truly wanted to freeze her out...stop talking about her and create some drama...thank gosh for Camille.
  17. I was always hoping that dru be brought back when he was with Karen (Nia long)...it would have had 3 gifted actors playing a triangle where no one was the bad guy...plus Victoria rowell expressed thinking Nia Long was a talented actor..so it could have been a good story.
  18. I think Mary dying when the C from the sign fell on her was the best twist..and oddly made sense. I'll even say I liked that a middle class family The Walkers were introduced...and even liked all of them...but fo agree BJ and Warren were a bad fit...Warren/Angela were a good couple.
  19. So that's who Gretchen was... that was Katherine Kelly Lang first soap role I believe. She was a friend of Patty at the start of the whole Patty/Danny/Jack story...hmmm. I guess Nikki/Victor didn't end up meeting till October 1981 I assume?
  20. Andy Cohen needs to be removed..he no longer knows what works and doesnt wo4k anymore.
  21. I still prefer Brenda as Ashley...she was softer, prettier...yet she wasnt a pushover. She always stood up to Victor and didnt hesitate to leave him. When she played Ashley..I saw Brad as her end game....when Eileen plays Ashley..I saw her end game being Victor.
  22. I liked carrie genzel in the part...and thought she played the tortured daddies girl better than Robin Christopher...imho.
  23. The kyle and Portia seen with the Vanderhaul and not being able to properly grocery shop, Rinna with her mother/daughters, Erika acting like Erika launching her tool, Denise working out with hubby, and LVP with the kitchen renovation makes me wish the show would devote just one episode to not having the women together in a contrived gathering.. nor talk about LVP/dog gate/etc... and just be with their own families. To give viewers a break from the pointless petty drama. With that said, I loved how Rinna said she hasn't thought of Kim... yeah.. keep telling yourself that dear. Both Rinna and Kyle have used Kim for storyline for years... and when Kim left... they both latched onto LVP.
  24. I have to say I preferred Brenda in the role of Ashley over Eileen... and I wished the powers that be had lured Brenda back to play the part of Ashley.. since some fans remember her fondly (in fact, I shared a few youtube clips of Brenda as Ashley with viewers who didn't know of her.. and they actually said they would have liked her better if they saw her in the role originally)... and I bet Brenda wouldn't be as expensive as Eileen is. And I think the reason I liked Nixon was because she provided a good balance between character interaction and story bubbles... and the show used the restaurants and parties/balls to great effect to mix up the character interactions. Bell would have a ball.. and the characters still were situated in their own story bubble (which makes sense because people usually will stay interacting with people they know well.. and maybe do a polite greeting to those they might not know as well)... and I'm sorry.. I didn't like ATWT because everyone was in one another's business even when it didn't make sense.
  25. I liked that style of storytelling...some characters organically wouldn't know one another. Victor encouraged Nina to pursue Ryan so he and Victoria didnt interact...I recall that. Nikki and Nina had one scene in the late 90s after Victoria's baby Eve died where Nina expressed sympathy..and Nikki eyed nina leaving and asked Victoria if Nina was causing trouble..and Victoria said not at all. And I do recall before Nina left in early 2000...her and Sharon interacted a lot since their kids went to Walnut Grove..and Nina was a supportive big sister to both Mackenzie and Megan Dennison. Had nina stayed, she probably would have interacted with others. She also was tested with Ashley's step brother Rafael and advised Cole on how to handle the Victoria/Ashley situation. Agnes Nixon did that to a certain extent on AMC...but not as blatant as Bill Bell did. Marland overdid the character interactions..some of which didnt make sense...and I did notice got better with that in the later years of his tenure in ATWT.
