Look into the past - 1975
1975 was a huge year for soaps with Jennifer falling into the glass, Dobson's taking over GL, Depriest making LOL sound interesting to view, Ryan's Hope debuts, Philip dies on y & r, etc.

Simms' Mindy I wouldn't have bought being part of the original 4 mouseketeer at all. It was interesting seeing her first few months on the show finishing out the stories started by Krista's Mindy. She and rusty didn't have chemistry nor did you buy her and Will together. She played Mindy more like how Melanie Smith played Emily on ATWT. Serious, sultry and tortured with a temper. Krista's Mindy was the spoiled princess with a youthful spirit. You both loved her, yet also wanted to slap her. I don't recall much of Ann Hamilton's Mindy except she was neither spoiled/playful like Krista nor sultry like Simms. Barbara's Mindy was hindered by the fact the show kept pushing her with Nick when they didn't click. The last few months she was there..it seemed like she found her niche as Mindy...and sadly she was the only Mindy that chemistry with Michael O'Leary's Rick...

I will say that Lorraine was the only one that sold me on why Ryan and Greenlee were a couple (we all know a mandate from Frons). She wrote it that both of them lost the great loves of their lives hence they were drawn together because each knew what the other lost. However, as we saw during those final weeks...if Leo and Gilliam returned..you know Ryan and Greenlee would have reunited with them in a heartbeat

I did love the Paul R stories, plus how soap filming has changed from the early days...and all the fun stories from Fiona and Andrea during the Argentina remote. I wish Tonja was asked about how her character went from a competent FBI agent,to loon, to mob queen, to Mrs Buchanan, etc...and how she handled playing those various changes (michael fairman did an interview with Kimberlin about Sheila Carter..and it was detailed and interesting to me).

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
And i like that if Lisa saw Joanna in public, she wouldn't say anything. Joanna and Adriana were both too toxic imho.

Y & R: lots of peggy mentions..and I like that there is some nice interaction with the 4 sisters. If I'm reading it correctly, sounds like Philip's death and not paying Lorie's Bill's motivated her to go forward with the book. An unexpected effect of his death outside of Jill/katherine. LOL: I will say that Depriest is doing a good job with carrying on Labine's plot threads. Nowadays, a new headwriter would drop everything and start with their own material. Arlene of 1975 is a far cry from the Arlene of 1980. GL: I'm liking the depth given to Holly once the Dobson's take over..although I read somewhere that the original Holly didnt like her character being softened so much once the Dobson's take over. Nice to see Leslie was getting some focus still even with the change of writers.

GL: so the Dobson's started in June 1975..and it looks like they spent the first weeks closing out Cendella's stories before starting their tales. I had no idea Peggy/roger were before the Dobson's started. LOL: wow, lots of action going on. I always wondered who was writing during the July 1975 episode floating around..and I guess that was Depriest.

Any Capitol Fans Here?
Julie/Jenny was probably one of the best roles for Catherine Hickland in terms of an acting challenge.. more so than Tess on Loving/The City.. and Lindsay on OLTL... imho. And Henry Slesar wrote an excellent show during his time on the show, it wasn't anything like Edge of Night at all. It had a lot of political intrigue, and lots of romantic triangles/quad's. I've heard both him and the writer before him, Peggy O'shea were the best writers on the show. It did seem like in the show's 5 year history. they had five different head-writers... so I imagine it would be hard to invest in the show since each team probably adjusted the tone of the show.

I think.Y & R milked the Jill and Kay feud far too long from the mid 80s and after with no break. At least from 1980 through 1983/4..the feud was rested except for occasional encounters at social events. There was little to no break from the mid 80s and there after. I'm excited to see more of the 1975 summaries since GL is getting close to when the Dobson's first took over.
