Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I'm glad SLC was chosen... like @Catsaid..there is a lot under the surface there...and I'm sick of the housewife mold and am pretty pumped at something new being thrown in.

Real housewives of salt lake city..hmmm Hopefully they cast women not into botox or plastic surgery...I'd like a natural looking human on screen.

I often find it's easier to do dramatic/serious moments than to do comedic moments. Comic timing is something you either have, or you don't have... and I often find it refreshing when a comedic actor plays something serious and dramatic (i.e. Robin Williams in Awakenings, Roseanne in the serious moments on her show, Whoopi goldberg in The Color purple, etc).

With Kenya back.. why was Nene allowed back? After the attitude Nene had last season, bitch should have been demoted to a friend of... it did wonders for Vicki... maybe it would have worked for Nene. You need a boring housewife.. someone calm to balance out all the crazy. OC is missing that... and has missed that since Jeana left in season 5..tbh.

Oddly, I thought Jenson was a better Marley than Vicky especially when she first started. She almost regressed Vicky back to circa 1985 when she first started... Anne Heche had gradually matured Vicky while maintaining her more dramatic tendencies... while Jenson played Vicky like Ellen Wheeler did when she first started as Vicky.

I think Rauch/Long came in too late to really damage (that had been done long before they arrived) or save the show. I get why Long had to introduce a new family (the Walkers) and tying them to Cruz was a good idea... but I do agree breaking up Angela/Warren to pair him with BJ was a bad move. I'd rather Warren/BJ been a mentor type of interaction than a romantic one.. and maybe paired BJ with a love interest of her own age. And I actually liked Kim Zimmer on the show.. she made a believable cop... and she paired well with the actor that played her husband. It just that it seemed they didn't really interact with the Capwells as much so it seemed like two different shows. And I would have written Cruz off as going to be with Eden.. than on the run for a crime he didn't commit.

@Catany season with brandi prevents it from being a best of season for me. Still..she should have stayed a friend of and never should have been promoted especially since we couldnt see her life as a mom (which would have made her more well rounded..imho)

Marland was too rigid and he should have let the breakdown writers write instead of micro-managing them. Shows he wrote had great plots.. but the day to day episodes tended to be on the dull side. I've always thought Marland and Pam Long would have been a power duo because what one lack, the other had in spades. Such a shame. Lemay said once that as long as you could justify a character actually doing something, it was ok to put a plot onto a character. He had said whenever he would sit in writing rooms, if the writers were focusing too much on plot.. he would ask if it would fit the character.. and say as long as you can answer why the character would do something and it made sense.. than it was ok to go about doing the plot. He said Marland fascinated him, but also was too rigid for his own good sometimes.

I thought the show from 1987 to 1991 was strongest in terms of storyline equality.... not everything revolved around the Forresters... The Logans had their own base, the Spectras had their own base, and the Forresters had their own base... by 1992... everything revolved around the Forresters and I think it worked at first.. but after awhile, it became too repetitive. Anytime the show would start to venture into new territory, Brad Bell would revert things back into the same old patterns.. and it still applies in 2019 as it did back in the mid 90s and thereafter.

I liked early Sally that we are seeing in these uploaded episodes... I hated that the show made her want the Forrester's respect, etc. I thought it diluted the character a bit. I know once the Donna/Bill Temptation story wraps up.. I think Macy's arrival plus Kristen's ex Mick's arrival are the next stories coming up.

To me... I think Philip and Beth plus Josh/Reva shouldn't have ended up together at the end... both couples were toxic and dysfunctional... and neither couple truly dealt with those dysfunctional tendencies. Josh always felt he was superior to Reva.. and Reva always felt inferior to Josh.... while Philip had this need to control and baby Beth while Beth sometimes gave into that and sometimes didn't. I would have preferred for at least Beth to have finally found contentment with herself, her life and her kids while keeping Philip in her life as a friend and co-parent only.

I thought Beth Chamberlin was a decent recast during her first stint 1989-1991.. she was more subtle, had a sarcastic tinge when delivering her lines, and had a backbone... She was a more softer Beth than JE's.. and I could buy that due to the 3 year period where she was mute and lost her memory. When they bought her back in 1997, she started out fine.. and than the show wrote her as OTT.. and the actress went all out with that... but I will say that the last year or so of the show when the show was writing Beth like Beth again.. Chamberlin was able to play that. Dusay started out in late 1993 with a different take on Alex.. and it worked, but eventually the writing made her character a one note shrew. I do agree that her Alex wasn't as warm as Bev's Alex... and during Joan Collins' brief stint as Alex, she was more like the Alex of old.

I always thought it a shame she and Lemay couldn't work well together because I think she could have helped him adjust to late 80s daytime.. and he could have helped her with connecting the dots idea wise. I do think Lorna/Felicia being mother/daughter was great idea (though I sometimes wonder if Lisa Grady was meant to be her long lost daughter, but the actress quitting made the show abandon that idea).

Harding Lemay also was taught the elements of daytime by Irna Phillips when he was hired.. where he was quoted as saying he learned what not to write. It doesn't sound like CJ was given a lesson on the elements of soap writing... or paired with an experienced soap writer like Michael Malone was in the early 90s.

Watching the Amy Silence channel.... I was curious why Storm/Margo wasn't pursued as a couple since the actors had chemistry... it felt in character for Storm to be invested in the Clarke/Kristen/Margo mess outside of being a lawyer (his dislike of Clarke started because Kristen married him, and deepended because Clarke refused to have anything to do with the baby Margo was carrying... and it bought up abandonment issues Storm had). I do wonder why the shift in the story because he is written off.. and Mick (Kristen's ex from NY) is bought in eventually (I think in spring 1989... and was the first guy Macy was interested in before she met Thorne).
