  1. Involving Peggy in the Roger/Holly/Rita sphere made sense. She was a good character that viewers watched from mid teens into her late 20s. I'm thinking she wanted to leave cause she could have been used for years.
  2. I go back to Models Inc with Garcelle..and based on scenes pre premiere..she doesn't play.
  3. I do recall (the actress playing Ashley got an emmy nom... and her arc was huge in 1980. I like Zimmer's take on NOLA so far...she plays grief well without going into Revva esque historonics.
  4. Even before the Loving Murders...the show had found its footing and an actual life identity months beforehand. Dare I say that Angie had quite a bit of use in the final year of Loving than she had at AMC in the final years. I liked the nod to Ava and Stacy's history..and the cracks showing in Ava and Alex's marriage. Though I always wondered why Ava didn't have make the cut..in terms of going to the City. She worked in retail and clothes...SoHo would have been a natural fit for her...moreso than that drip Jocelyn.
  5. I think barbara surviving the fire/explosion with scars wasnt a bad idea. Having her as a recluse and bitter also fit with the character...but the spa story, etc wasn't.
  6. I would agree Reva being isolated in the late 90s and thereafter. In the 80s, Reva wasn't islanded off from Spingfield..and I think it just underscores that it Pam Long knew how to write her. I think Reva is a character difficult to write well..and this maybe unpopular..but she should have remained dead instead of being bought back because only Long could have written her well. Also, I do recall Zimmer kept wanting to work with Maureen Garrett...and you did see the two started interacting more in the late 90s and after. While I love that Garrett rolled her eyes at the Nursery Rhyme stalker (which had a good start and middle..but a bad ending)...I'm surprised she didn't mention the Sebastian story...which was far worse (and kind of led her to leave the show). I did like back in the day her thoughts on Peapack when she came back for the finale...not very fond thoughts
  7. I liked Kim on SB...she was convincing as a cop..and she had good chemistry with the actor that played her husband....and she and Sydney Penny had good mother/daughter chemistry. She also wasn't as OTT either on SB.
  8. I watched some clips of Terri on QVC...she's quite good. She moves fast, thinks on her feet, and is good with blocking. And I knew someone years ago that worked at QVC and loved it. So I can see why she's warmed to it. Colleen grew up in a Barrington, a wealthy Chicago suburb... and there were tales she wasn't that nice. Who knows if true (I grew up near Barrington).
  9. I just Maura never does another one. She was annoying
  10. Apparently Nixon/Marland wanted this soap to be a traditional soap for the 80s.. without action/adventure, etc that was hitting on all the other soaps at the time... and romance was to be at the center of the soap. From watching the pilot.. it appears like there is a murder mystery that is neatly wrapped up at the end of the pilot.. but has enough plots to carry over into a typical M through F soap opera. Perhaps that might not have been a good idea to have the main plot resolve itself in that 2 hour movie?
  11. I wish kim wouldn't on this...she's over exposed as is.
  12. Why was Dorit and Erika brought back? Weird not seeing LVP. Kyle, as was the case her whole life was, you'll always be second best
  13. I've always wondered what exactly was Loving's identity? All My Children and One life to Live (by Nixon) had strong identites.. even using their locales as characters itself (Pine Valley and Llanview were distinct characters in themselves). But what exactly was Loving's identity and purpose when it was in the story bible/creation stage? Was it about a college? A college town? Was it to focus on the college itself, or the inhabitants of a college town? I never got the sense even in the early months of the show.. that even the writers (Marland, and later Nixon) even knew. It took the final year (before the serial killer story) before we got an idea on what the show could have been...imho.
  14. Nene and Kim will always have that odd connection..hard to explain.
  15. With Twin Peaks recently turning 30, and with Covid-19 causing shelter in place.. I've been rewatching the original series again.. and I often think since the show was a lot like a prime time soap opera.. that perhaps had the show employed a few writers experienced in writing soap operas... maybe when all the plans for season 2 had to be altered (rather due to Lara Flynn Boyle as rumored or not).. having experienced soap opera writers on staff could have helped the show adjust to these changes more seamlessly (soap opera writers always had to adjust due to maternity leaves, actors not renewing contracts, deaths of cast members, etc).
  16. Dorinda must have been the inspiration for Luann's classic song 'Money don't buy you class'
  17. The one character trait of Margo's that I noticed was that she had a sense of humor and was funny. Colin's Margo was funny in a dramatic way, Hilary's Margo was more sarcastic, and Dolan's Margo (in her first stint) had more of a dry sense of humor. I do think various things like the rape, miscarriage, dissolution of her marriage, PTSD after the plane crash etc in the 90s made Margo more harsh and bitter. It made sense, but the writers never made any efforts to show that Margo had changed, etc. Although I did love Margo with the night stick banging on the jail cell while Nikki was in there.. and the back and forth between Margo/Nikki for a brief time in the mid 90s.
  18. Why wasn't erika or dorit downgraded instead? New blood is needed. Denise better get a raise
  19. Apparently Shannon and Kelly on OC are on decent terms again??
  20. Wow... I guess people sampled it.. didn't like it and didn't return for week 2.
  21. Rinna is acting.. she views RHOBH as another acting role. I forgot what season it was.. but she had guest roles on the Middle, a return stint to Days, etc... going while the season was filming... and that was the season she wasn't leading the charge to bully someone. I think if these women have actual stuff going on in their day to day life, they are less likely to create drama in group settings because they have something they're bringing to the table. RHOC last season.. Shannon and Kelly were the only two that contributed anything to the narrative in both their day to day lives.. and in group settings (and I look forward to seeing them spar next season.. since both have positive changes in their personal lives... and with Tamra/Vicki gone.. maybe the two might mend fences?). And I agree it's time for Melissa to be demoted to a friend of.... she doesn't really add anything to the show. Delores' day to day is more interesting to me with her close friendship with her ex (and I get why she'll never take him back.. and she should hold firm to that), her relationship with her kids, etc.
  22. I do like the fact that even though both Rachel and Iris had issues with one another.. they didn't let that affect their sons being best friends... even in the late 80s/early 90s... Iris was always warm and nice to Jamie.. while Rachel was the same way with Dennis. Oddly, I think the one thing that Swajeski did right about Rachel/Iris was make the two become strong frienimies after Mac's death... they learned to get along, even like one another at times, but there would always have instances where the two would still clash (i.e. Paulina's paternity, Spencer, Carl, etc).
  23. I wonder if it ever enters Jennifer 's mind that her daughter gets excluded in school by girls that ae like Jennifer? Probably not...she shouldn't be rewarded for her behavior..but I guess if Teresa gets rewarded than why not Jennifer
  24. I did see Deakins in a movie called The Great Outdoors as a jaded townie teen ...so I agree with your assessment.
