  1. I'm wondering if BD made a bad acting choice because pre Jill's divorce settlement...BD played Jill as cold, a little campy, but also with a bit of vulnerability (when she called Phillip at Christmas 1984 and he didn't want to come home..you felt for her). However, once Jill divorced John and was at Jabot, her acting changed. Wasn't it said that she was getting conflicting notes from Bell and producers on how to play Jill? Bell wanted her to play Jill one way while producers there wanted her to be OTT? Maybe she was trying to play Jill in a way that would satisfy both sides..and it came off badly? Also, I'm wondering had BD kept playing Jill...I have a feeling she would have been exactly like Kay...a lonely woman with all the money in the world? I know that she instantly didn't like Nina because she saw herself in her (i.em buttering her up, ulterior motive, etc). I truly think the Jill/ Nina story would have been different had she remained...imho
  2. I will say that the Jill character changed completely with Jess Walton taking over. Jess's Jill was convincing as a Jabot employee in charge of the Men's line, while Brenda's Jill looked like she was playing dress up (which made sense since she only was working there due to the divorce settlement with John). And rewatching the scenes of Bond's Jill... she was more subdued and almost too professional and level headed to play Jill. Did Deborah Adair's Jill ever work at Jabot? If so, did she come across more professional as Jill?
  3. Where was it in the interview where he said people didn't like the actor playing Rick? I wonder if the circumstances on how he was hired to play Ed back in 1981 colored how he viewed playing the character? I do know that he thought the show didn't really play out the Maureen death angle as much, and he echoed the sentiments expressed by many.. that the show lost a great actress in Ellen Parker.
  4. I do confess I would have loved to see more of Brenda's Jill with Nina. She was dismissive, but there were instances she knew when Nina was scheming. There would have been less yelling for sure. Brenda's Jill was cold and sarcastic... keeping her emotions in check. When Jess took over, Jill became more in your face and unable to hide her true feelings.
  5. Sally Sussman's bible for Brad's story involved resolving the Lisa Mansfield saga since it was left open ended with her escaping in 1989..but no...let's do LML's idea instead
  6. Dorinda is trash, just cast someone with nice property and can hold their liquor better to replace her. Easy solution
  7. Regarding the season 4 NY reunion...looking back it wasn't so much toxic..it was a lot of crosstalk and yelling...where Andy Cohen had to tell them all to be quiet. In the season 4 lost scenes of episode of BH...kyle had an expert advise her on how to present her caftans (I think she was going on QVC or HSN)...and the coach told her to stop talking about herself because doing so wouldn't convince people to buy her product...and in the talking head..Kyle was rolling her eyes. Kyle has always been overshadowed by her sisters, LVP, Denise and now Garcelle...it's why she's so pressed all the time
  8. My mom fondly liked Matt.. and I asked if he was anything like Victor.. and she said no. I think that there was a lot of untapped potential with the Matt character... and I felt that the show didn't really explore the Victor/Matt dynamic to the fullest extent. Victor was abandoned by his parents, grew up in an orphanage, and became this angry driven man.. and it did affect how he was as a parent (in some ways, Jack was more of a father to Nicholas than Victor was)... while Matt ended up being raised by his family since he was born later on so he didn't have the chip on his shoulder that Victor did. Sadly... by the 80s.. soaps were more about couples/triangles than about psychological character study so the potential was never fully explored.
  9. Peter Simon talked about being cast as Ed...and all he said was that he was asked in the spring of 1981 to not work because there was a role for him..and didn't even tell him what the role would be. He ended up not starting as Ed till months later. He said what he heard was that the head writer wanted someone younger and less likely to adlib... and Peter Simon said 'and they hired me?' They spilled some nice tea.
  10. Reading this write up of OC...even more excited...it'll be like season 5 when the housing crisis hit Orange County hard. https://www.bravotv.com/the-daily-dish/rhoc-cast-season-15-spoilers-life-updates?cid=soc_fb_Dish&fbclid=IwAR0bSa0JhYGJTjDsGu2BWib7SEcLasOK_lCmwnIPo_97PZy3WfR2VlmBHKk
  11. RHOC filmed pre covid, harsh shutdown, and semi reopened..with Shannon getting covid shown. This will be a good season after all
  12. I had no idea Brock came back in 1985..it does seem like he was tested with Ashley, Gina and Jill..but nothing came of that. He did come back again during the Marge doppelganger story..his return provided the push to resolving it. He was tested with Nina some in 1989..but than he was gone again. Jill and Nikki did seem not to interact much till 1999...but both were aware of one another before that. Jack and Nikkik had one scene in 1992 where they were going to fix up John with one of Nikki's friends...but jack finds out about john and Jill..and he tells Nikki. She rolls her eyes and said 'not that again ' lol.
  13. I am intrigued to see how covid will change how the cast trips go. Since the USA is banned from most countries...makes sense it's USA based trips. And with California and Texas on states Quarantine lists..the choices where to travel are slimmer. Still..I wonder if there will be less drinking or sightseeing? I'm sure being stuck with one another will drive them all crazy...hence organic fights
  14. I'm hoping for more 1981...that seemed an interesting year with the Casey/Nikki stalker, Vanessa venturing more into the dark side, and seeing Jill living a middle class life (more of her being roomies with Eve and dating Andy). I liked seeing Diane and Andy together in the 1984 clikps..classic story of a woman being drawn to the bad boy and not realizing until too late that she had the real thing. The show revisited this in the 2000s with them..but it wasn't the same cause of Diane being recast
  15. I remember at a Bauer Barbeque (1991 maybe) Michelle wondered over to the Spauldings...and when Mo was looking for her..Blake said she saw her next door at the Spauldings.
  16. So Nikki spent all of 1980 in the Foster orbit..did she and Jill ever cross paths as sister in laws? I asked my mom..and all she could recall was Liz trying to teach Nikki how to clean as Nikki played dumb..and Chris playing peace keeper with Greg and Nikki...but nothing about Jill
  17. I think with Bethenny, Dorinda and Tinsley gone...the tone of the show will be different. I think adding one or two newbies will freshen up the show..but retain the essence of the original vibe. Don't forget newbies always interact in interesting ways with Ramona (i.e. Carole trying logic, Aviva being crazy, and Heather grinning as she follows Ramona around)...so just seeing how anyone new comes in reacting to the train wreck that is Ramona is always entertaining
  18. Bye toxic trash...vile, mean and unlikable.
  19. Now Brenda Epperson had chemistry with a lot of people...she had the sarcastic vibe of Eileen..but didn't have the dismissive vibe that Eileen had. She had good rapport with both Jack's, Traci, John....and her end game pairing was Brad. Only character that she didn't click with was Blade...and I think it wasn't her that was the problem. Michael Tylo didn't fit on Y & R (he..like Shari Statuck were hired cause of their spouses...though Shari fit in the show...just not as Ashley)
  20. Seeing Ashley in clips pre Victor, I often don't get why Bill bell insisted on ruining and degrading Ashley's character with the Victor pairing? Nikki being drawn to Victor made sense based on the 2.5 years of story pre dating her meeting Victor....but I just could never buy Ashley being drawn to him.
  21. She's too good for rhony. She has an actual personality and seems like she would be interesting on her own without needing to start drama.
  22. The Carl/Mary/ruth story was well written and utterly realistic. You can tell Alden was in charge because St Christine was called to task for not telling Paul what she was doing...even with Nina telling her to be honest. It was oh so satisfying to have Christine have to admit she was wrong..to Nina (a wonderful scene) and to Paul. It's a shame that was the last story for Mary where she was given material that made her more than an interfering mother or mother in law.
  23. Had Terry Lester stayed on...do you guys think the Nikki/Jack wedding in 1990 would have happened?
  24. And no excuses because OC filmed before and during Quarantine.
  25. I'm hoping for organic drama..no more petty issues dragged out.
